《World tag#001》Chapter041

- I'm not going to give my real name to a mage, if you must, you can call me Athame.
- ... ... Okay... So, Athame, what brings you here?
- ... ... ...
After my question, it seemed she minded it, she didn't answer and only kept staring. Her slit pupils were beautiful, but also disquieting.
- I thought I was the one with the power to turn every conversation awkward, and apparently I'm right... Sigh...
I bowed my head in defeat, and started meditating. I was curious about her but I wasn't going to go out my way to talk to her. When I had finally found a balance, between hastening the scale formation and mp recovery, my concentration was broken again.
By the way, during my year with them, Llanfil and Ausas told me that there was a way to train and avoid the pain. The solution was pretty easy actually, all I needed to do was ensure that my trained stats gain were going to coincide with a level up. I still hadn't tested this theory, but I could have a little peace of mind.
Anyway what interrupted me was the only other occupant of the jail, but this time her tone seemed even more serious than before.
- So you really aren't an imperial, what brings you here then? Are you really a lone mage searching out the ruins? Or are you...
- And you think I'm not an imperial because?
- You didn't react to my name.
- Are you supposed to be famous?
- I'm nobody the name itself is worth thousand word for the Empire's men. You didn't answer me again.
- Seeing our condition I suppose it's not the name of an entertaining company, is it? And at cost of being repetitive I already told you my name, if you want to know anything else why don't we play a game of questions and answers?

- A game?
- Yes, each one ask can a question after they answered the last one. Agreed?
- What if someone don't want to answer?
- Well, they obviously can't ask, and the opposing part can answer another question. But you already should know no response is an answer in itself, don't you?
- Fine, but you must answer my question first.
- About myself?
- Yes!
- Ok, ok, calm down. As you can see I'm human, I can use magic, and to tell you the truth I don't know why I'm here.
- What do you mean you don't know?
- Hey, it's my turn now, care to answer my question from before? Or should I change it?
- Tsk... I'm here because they captured me, happy? Now tell me!
- You really learned fast how to play eh? If it's how you wanna roll... I don't know why I'm here because I don't even know where we are. When I stepped out of the ruin they captured me instantly. No time for sightseeing. Now why don't you tell me why the name athame should make me jump?
- ... Athame is an organisation known for hunting humans, they patrol the border. No human should ignore their name. So were do you came from?
- In the spirit of your previous answer, I can say I came from outside the jail obviously. And you?
- You @#$%!
- Really? That seems a nasty place to came from! Wait, before you pitch a fit, I should apologise. But I really needed to blow off some steam, and you walked right trough it by yourself. Sorry.

8 51The Runners of Westal
Anya Vorian wasn't picky. She'd take any apprenticeship that came her way. She, Lori and Andrew had prepared all winter for the interviews, but when only one offer came with her name on it, she suddenly wasn't so sure that she could do it. It was hard work, for one thing. It was dirty. They were respected, certainly, but in the sort of way that one respects a skilled plumber - grateful to have the job done, but glad it isn't your arms elbow deep in dung. In short, runners were odd folk. Maybe it was time to get fast. - A first-person tale inspired by long distance running.
8 117The Undying Magician
How would a true immortal with average talent in magic fare within a world where magic is everything? In the world of Aria, only a small fraction of the population are classified as magicians. These magicians are able to use magic through the manipulation of the mana they are born with and are the core of the military strength within every nation. However, one nation in particular uses magicians to an even higher extreme than the others. This nation is known as The Republic of Arcania. The largest power in Aria. Our story follows Nathan Fox as he graduates from high school and is sent to the Arcane Academy for his required military training as a magician before he eventually serves his ten year term in the military.Nathan has been a true immortal ever since he got a semi-magical disease that makes any damage done to his body instantly reverse itself, bringing him back to his top form on the day that he became an immortal. Ever since then, it has been impossible for Nathan to die.But there are worse things in the world than death. And if the power-hungry magicians of the world were to learn of Nathan's true immortality? Then he might just experience those things himself. What will happen to Nathan as he traverses life in the academy? Will his secret be found out?Or will he be able to safely make it through the four years of academy life with his secret intact? That has yet to be foretold. The beginning of the story starts out slow for what many Royal Road readers are used to and then speeds up after around chapter 20 or so. It is a school arc, so it is supposed to be slow. Most of the combat and action isn't seen until after these chapters, which you can view as an introduction to the world, the characters, and magic itself. Many of the reviews are outdated due to edits I've been making along the way through the story. Specifically some of the edits going over the world itself, including pointing out in the story some of the things a few of the reviewers missed when they wrote their reviews, along with fixing other things that were pointed out in the story from the reviews and comments. This book is also being edited as it's being written, so some small parts might change as I get suggestions from readers. I do not write harem or sexual content in my stories. Ever. 8 732Deliverance : an adaption of Jane Eyre
This is one of those 'what if' adaptations. I've always wondered why Mr Rochester had to be broken so thoroughly before he could be happy with Jane Eyre. What if she had not been able to get away, what if he had been waiting by her door a second time, pleading her to stay? Would she indeed have lost herself and been made his mistress?
