《Legend of the Void Walker》Chapter 47: Hunger

My heart beats fast and my face heating up as the beautiful woman kissed my cheeks and activated both the runes in my arm and the magic circle beneath my feet simultaneously. A blinding light surrounds me and in a blink of an eye, the sight of the room vanished. I felt a warm feeling all over my body and as it vanishes, I slowly opened my eyes. The instant that I saw where that magic circle took me, my heart beats fast and my face heats up. But not because I am aroused, but with what I saw. A group of at least 20 people staring at me as I interrupt their dinner.
That damn woman! She teleported me right into the lions' den! My thoughts race on how I will punish Rebeccah if ever I see her again. Holy shit. What do I do?
I am frozen where I stand as I wrack my mind on a course of action when someone approached me. "Hey. This is the first time I've seen you. Are you new?" The large man at least 2 meters tall asked. "You know, teleportation magic is forbidden here."
Good. He is willing to talk. I'll try to use my charisma to talk my way out of this. "Yeah, I'm new. Sorry about the teleportation. I am not familiar with the rules and was just practicing my spell when I accidentally transported myself here. Silly me. I should go now." I started to walk slowly towards the exit.
"That won't do newbie. Knowing the rules is paramount if we want to stay under the radar of the enemy. Come, I will take you the Seniors. They will punish you, but it will be much better than having the Elder know of what you did. Poor Bert, he will never be able to cast a spell ever again. Not with his crushed throat." The man explains.
"Sorry. I then please keep it a secret. I won't do it again." I answered. But I was frozen in place once more, though from a different cause, as pain shot up my left arm. My freaking god, what is happening now? Is this due to what that woman did to break the seal? If I knew it would hurt like this, I shouldn't have let her draw those runes on me. I grit my teeth as I clutch my arm and try to endure the pain in my arm which feels like a million fire ants are biting at it.
"Hey, are you ok?" The man asked with a concerned tone.
He was about to put his arm on my shoulder when I accidentally grabbed it with my left hand. In that instant, I felt something enter me.
"Hey. I am just trying to be nice. No need to grab my hand like that. Urgh! What--- what's happening?" His face became pale as he fell to his knees. "I feel faint all of a sudden."
A woman rushed towards us and pushed me away from the man. "What are you doing? You're hurting him." But as soon as her hand touches mine, she quickly pulled hers away with surprise in her eyes. "Ahh! What was that?! It felt like my Mana is being sucked out of my body." She held her hand in fear before quickly turning into anger. "You dare use whatever that strange magic on a fellow member? Let's see how you like being punished by the Elder." She then turned to the other people in the room and shouted. "Get him!"

With that, she began her chant while other men quickly swarmed around me. Oh, damn it! Not only does my hand hurt like hell, now I am getting ganged up on! I thought before jumping on a near long table and kicking plates and cups towards the people who are chasing me before jumping off and use the very table as a barrier between us. I then threw a few chairs at them before bolting off once more.
The first rule in fighting against a group is to never get surrounded. A lesson I learned back in high school when I fought against my bullies and other troublemakers. The key is always to be on the move. Be aware of the surroundings and use it against them. Use your footwork to make them cross each other's way so that they wouldn't be able to fight properly, and finally, hit the nearest person as hard as you can before running away once more. It also helps that not all the people in the hall are chasing after me. Only 6 people are on my tail as the others are content in watching and cheering my pursuers as if they are watching a show.
"Come here you rat! A large man roared as he covered his body with Reinforcement Aura to compensate for his lack of speed. He is only a meter away from me when I felt his Mana soared as he pounced at me.
Bad move! While in mid-air, he wouldn't be able to dodge my attack as I turned around and introduced his face to my fist. With the force of my punch multiplied by his forward momentum, a loud smack can be heard in the room, and the large man fell like a puppet with its strings cut.
Upon knocking down the large man, I thought the people around the room would at least be shocked which I can use to escape. But instead of shock, I only enraged them more as they renewed their chase. Only this time, more people joined the chase.
Holy crap! I ran faster as I duck and weave my chasers. Using my keen Energy Sense, I can locate each of my pursuers who are now numbering at 10. Sensing a pursuers Aura covered body throw a straight punch aiming at the back of my head, I quickly took a half step to the side, letting his fist hit empty air. I then grabbed his arm and with a half-turn, I used his strength to lift him off his feet and throw him, hitting at least three of his nearest companion in a single move. Just when I thought my brilliant maneuver was able to buy me a few seconds to run for the exit, I was disappointed when I saw the other 6 people jumped over or go around the pile of knocked down bodies of their comrades and quickly closed the gap between us. Defending myself from blows raining left and right, I tried to escape but the girl from before quickly blocked my path and started chanting.
As we are about to clash with one another, I can feel her Aura get more powerful than before as she finished her chant. "Indomitable Earth! Block his path! Earth Wall!" She kneeled and the moment her hand touched the floor, I felt a great amount of mana just building up right in front of her and a giant wall of earth suddenly sprang to block my path.
I couldn't stop my momentum in time and crashed against the wall. "Blargh!" a pitiful voice escaped my throat as the feeling of my crashing against a wall sent a jolt of pain throughout my body.

My pursuers didn't let the chance go as I felt punch after punch land upon my body and face as they channel the rage they felt when they chased me around the hall, leaving me with no choice but to try to let my Ki explode to Amplify my body's defense which they seem to not be able to pierce through with their Aura. But that too will not work for long as it quickly depletes my Ki. Finally, my Ki was about to run out canceling my Amplification and my body protest as it endured punishment from their relentless attacks. But the pain in my body is no match to the pain that I am beginning to feel once more on my left arm.
Is this how this ends? I don't know how long I can endure. If I don't do something soon… Sensing a large amount of energy coming my way, a punch from what I can feel, I instinctively tried to catch it with both my hands to stop it. The moment my hands grabbed hers, I was surprised by what transpired. I can feel my strength slowly returning and my Ki being replenished by the second. The woman tried to pull her hand free but I cling on for dear life as the pain in my body slowly goes away, leaving me refreshed.
"Ahhh! Get him off me!" She shouts in panic as her flailing gets weaker by the second.
As I start to feel my body is about a hundred percent back in shape, a man kicked me to my side and I was flung towards some table and chairs. I groaned as I get back to my feet. Damn it. I was back in top shape and now I feel a broke a rib again. I thought to myself before diving to the side as a small fireball exploded in the place where I was before.
"Hey! No using of Attack Magic within the base!" Shouted one of the onlookers. "You're gonna get punished by the higher-ups for that."
"Go ahead. But believe me, he's not one of us. Is there anyone here who recognizes him? No? Not only did he use teleport magically to arrive here, but he also used some weird magic to attack our fellow members. There is only one explanation for what he did." The short woman stood over a table before pointing at me like a cliché villain. "He's an enemy! Intruder!" As she continues her speech, I quickly rushed towards the exit. "Stop him! If he gets away, all of us will be punished! Get up you lazy bums and block the exit!" The woman shouted.
As if a fire has been lit within their spirits, all the onlookers quickly got to their feet to stop me from escaping. With my escape barred and surrounded by enemies, the hope of escaping alive is next to nothing. I have an idea, but this is going to be a pain. Literally. I thought as I rushed towards the nearest enemy.
"Don't let him touch you! Whatever he does, it saps your strength!" The short woman, who I think is their leader warned them.
Too late! I thought as I ducked under a punch and grabbed the man by the throat with my right hand. I expected my broken rib to heal but nothing is happening as the manned counter-attacked and kneed me in the said rib.
Crap! That hurts! Why is nothing happening? I must've done something wrong. I screamed internally as I see another punch coming my way. I try to wrack my brain to what I did before and it just clicked. I grabbed his fist with my left hand, which is starting to emit that familiar black smoke of sorts, and I am starting to feel reinvigorated in an instant.
Unfortunately, the feeling only lasted for at least 2 seconds before I felt a clump of energy flying my way. I quickly used the man I was absorbing energy from and Amplifying my strength, I threw him towards the spell. An explosion erupted as he collided with a fireball and fell to the floor engulfed in flames. "Dumbass! I told you not to touch him! Fire your spells! One of you put out the fire on Klaus and heal his wounds." The woman ordered before starting to chant another spell.
All of them started to chant a spell, another bad move. Unlike the ones we fought before like the Crazy Wind lady and Rebeccah, these people seem to need a long time to chant while also needing to be stationary. Kind of a stupid move since it will take a second for me to dash to the nearest person, grab them, and suck their energies off. Oh well. Their loss, my gain. I grinned devilishly as I rush towards my first target, who was startled and threw a punch, hoping to keep me away from her. Too bad, compared to the others her attack speed is slow as I easily grabbed her fist in the air and pulled her towards me and hugged her tight with both arms around her. Not because she is a pretty woman, I wouldn't in my life of me try to harass a woman. I learned my lessons already. But I thought it would make me absorb her energy faster. Which it didn't.
I can feel my power rise by the second as the woman screams for help. At least 4 people responded to her call and stopped their chanting to separate me from her. I happily obliged and used her as a shield to block a kick from one of my attackers. He was surprised when I did that and was about to apologize to her when I grabbed both her hands and swung her like a bat at him. Their bodies collided and both were thrown to the ground.
Seeing their comrade being treated like a toy, the other three men snarled and threw themselves at me, with no regard to whether I can grab them and absorb their energy. I was about to grab the one on the left and use him to swat the others when I felt a decent amount of energy welling from beneath my feet. Is this another wall? Or a fire pillar-like Kaizer used at me? But isn't it too wide? About 5 meters in radius? Shit, no need to find out. I then quickly Amplified my body and jumped 2 meters above the ground, I then used one of my attackers as a foothold and jumped further away from the area-of-effect of the spell.
"Quicksand!" I can hear at least 5 spell caster shouted as the ground where I was standing before turned into sand and got the 3 men who jumped at me stuck.
As soon as I landed, I then sensed multiple clumps of energy aimed at me. "Firebolt! Ice bolt! Earth Shard! Lightning bolt!" Multiple Mages cast simultaneously. Since I can sense where there are from and can tell where they are going, the only thing left is to move fast enough to dodge them. I used Amplification to its full power and quickly move out of the way of the incoming spells. Using this technique might be tiring, I can also feel my body hurting, maybe since it is not used to be put to this much strain.
But meh. As long as I can grab one of them, I can do this all day!
"What the hell is this guy? How could he dodge all of that without even looking? Does he have eyes at the back of his head?" One of the women lamented.
"Don't worry about that! Just keep firing! You three! Protect us while we cast out spells!" The woman, who was still standing on the top of the table, yelled at his fellow mages.
To be honest I am surprised that no one was hit in the crossfire from flinging all those spells around. Oh well, no time to mull on that as I see three of the mages activated their Auras and rushed towards me. "Sorry boys, no time to play with you. I have juicer targets to devour." I uttered without thinking as I rushed towards one of the women who were chanting spells. The men tried to bar my way but I am much faster than them since I am using Amplification to boost my speed, I quickly grabbed the woman by the neck and ran around the room to absorb her energy while keeping the men chasing after me at a distance. Once I was done with her, I threw her at one of my pursuers who quickly caught her and lay her on the side before continuing his pursuit.
"Earth Wall!" The voice of their leader can be heard and in an instant, another wall appeared. Blocking my way. "His path is blocked! Do it now!" She yelled.
Almost in an instant after she finished her sentence, her fellow mages finished their chants and used their spells. "Flame Gout!" One yelled as a stream of fire shoots out of her hand. "Ice Shards!" Two of them shouted as tiny shards of ice formed right in front of them before shooting towards me. "Twin Fire Bolt" One cast as two bolts of flame shot towards me, while the two men beside her cast a single bolt of fire. "Lightning Bolt!" The last two mages then cast as the very air crackle before producing a bolt of lightning straight at me.
While I can safely say that I can dodge most of them, the other spells are not aimed directly at me. Instead, they are directed to where I will try to escape, making sure that I will not be able to escape scot-free.
There is no way I could escape here unharmed. Better try and minimize the damage! I then used Amplification to fire up my Aura to the max and charge headlong towards the fire gout with my arms to cover my face. Although my Aura was able to shield me from the brunt of the attack, I still wasn't able to escape without getting burned. I can feel intense heat as the fire burn my skin, a part of my hair, and my new clothes. But it beats betting shredded to pieces by ice or electrocuted by lightning.
I endured the searing heat until I was able to reach the Mage casting the Flame Gout spell. As soon as I reached her, she shrieks in terror and tried to run away. "Oh no, you don't! Come over here!" Still smoking with most of my flesh burned off, I yelled those words as I grabbed her hair and yanked her towards me. I can hear her cry as I pull her towards me. I grabbed her mouth with my still smoking hand and whispered. "Don't cry. Just close your eyes and think of home." Her cries turned into a sob until she lost consciousness as I was sucking all I can from her body before letting her fall to the ground.
I was wondering why no one was attacking me yet. When I looked around, I can see them tremble as my gaze lock into them. "Wha—what are you? A momo--- monster?!" One of the men cried out.
"Don't falter! He is injured! We can---" The leader wasn't able to finish her sentence as she was stupefied by what is happening in front of her.
Not as slow as before, my body heals in front of their eyes. The charred flesh was replaced by healthy ones. My chest right arm which only has bones on it was slowly being filled by blood vessels, muscles, and lastly, skin. My face which looked like two faces, if two faces got almost all of his face burnt and not just half, returned to normal, beard and all. Even the hair in my head returned. After a minute or so, except for my clothes that are still burned, my body was returned to its perfect condition. As if all the searing pain I felt earlier was just a dream.
"Monster!" A man shrieked and would've run towards the exit if the woman didn't jump towards him and grabbed his arm.
"Don't run! Even if he is strong, he is alone. If we work together I know we can take him! Besides, I am sure the Seniors are already on their way here. They will no doubt hear the sound of fighting. So if we hold him here till they arrive, we will win, and maybe even praise—" The leader was then knocked to the ground before she could finish her speech when I threw the unconscious woman towards her.
"You talk too much," I said in a relaxed manner. I don't know. But even if I am outnumbered and surrounded by people who could end me with a single spell if I wasn't careful enough, I feel that I cannot lose.
"Earlier you tried to stop me from escaping. Chased me around like an animal. Hurling your dainty spells to kill me." I said while a smile starts to creep on my face. I can only imagine how terrified they might be right now as I feel the dark smoke from my hand has also started to spread around my body, and honestly, it makes me more excited. Though I don't know why. "Now it's my turn," I said in a hushed tone as the dark energy within me explodes and I rushed towards them.
After a few minutes, I walked out of the door of the dining hall. I turned around and look at the mess behind me. At least 20 people, scattered around with all of their energy drained from their bodies to add to my own.
But it is not enough. Even after I absorbed their energy to the point where they are on the brink of death, it wasn't able to fill the emptiness inside me. I must find more people, more energy to absorb.
I HUNGER.

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper
