《Legend of the Void Walker》Chapter 32: Rumble in the Forest

As the two men who have an arrow embedded to their forehead falls to the ground, dead, chaos suddenly erupted. The large hulking guy with a the longsword, along with a lithe woman with a dark flowing hair that reaches her waist, and a tall bald guy with a mustache rushed towards Philip and Alora, seemingly intent to take revenge for their fallen allies. The beautiful lithe woman wearing a white robe, along with 2 men wielding staffs engaged Kurt and Ortho.
All the while trouble ensues, their leader stood in the middle. With his arms on his waist, he exudes arrogance and started his speech once more, only to be interrupted again by an arrow from Alora.
"Damn it woman! Won't you let me finish?!" The man who looks like their leader yells as he continued to block shot after shot from the elf. The bracer on his wrist looks awfully familiar with what Ortho is wearing.
"Where did you get that?" Ortho screamed at the man. His face is twisted in anger that I have never seen before.
The man smirked, with a mocking voice he then replied. "If you beat us, maybe I will tell you." He then pulled out a short metal handle from his robe. "That is if you win." With a press of a button, flame came out to form a sword. Which he promptly used to cut an arrow flying towards him in half.
What the hell! They have light sabers here?! Cool!
The fight is wild as the hulking man swings his sword with wild abandon while the other guy and the woman tries to circle around him and attack Alora. Even while facing against such odds Philip was still able to defend against their attacks while also keeping them away from Alora who is also showcase her agility as she moves around dodging attacks that was able to slip through Philip's defense while also shooting arrows to keep him from getting overwhelmed by the enemies. A feat that should be impossible without complete trust with each other.
Meanwhile, Kurt was going around and fighting off 3 opponents by himself, a female mage who lazily floating in the air while casting wind blades at him with a bored expression pasted on her face and 2 more men attacking him in close range with their staves. The 2 men were attacking in coordinated manner like they have practiced fighting with each other for a long time. One attacks with a sweeping attack high aiming for Kurt's head while the other attacks low, trying to sweep his feet from under him. Kurt, being Kurt, jumps and twists his body, dodging both attacks and kicked both in the head at the same time knocking them back. To give those guys credit, they quickly recovered and renewed their effort to defeat the powerful monk.
Doesn't hold back he says. What a load of bull. He never shown moves like this before when we sparred. His technique, power, defense, and speed are all off the charts as he slips away from the coordinated attacks of the 2 men while punishing them whenever they leave an opening. Blocking both of their attacks with his bare hands, I can feel Kurt's Aura spiked as his Ki travel from his core to his foot, then travels back towards his arm. The Ki from his arms then transferred to the staff which proceed to travel towards the hands of his opponent. To counteract whatever the monk was doing, the 2 men also gathered their Mana and transferred it to their staff. Ki and Mana clashed within the staffs as the 2 men tries to overpower the lone monk. They put more power and Mana on their staffs as Kurt starts to lose the battle, 2 hands against 4. I can feel their Mana is about to totally push out Kurt's Ki from their weapons as it slowly inch towards Kurt's head spelling his doom. I hold my breath at the thought of his impending doom. That is when the monk turned the tables against them.

After his 2 opponents commit themselves to exerting more and more power on their weapon to smash Kurt, he then pushed aside both of their staff while also using his own Ki and strength to amplify their attack. This caused both of the men to lose their balance as their staffs dig a trench on the eart. Kurt then used this opportunity to use his charge technique to instantly appear in front of one of his out balanced opponents and was about to deliver a devastating attack that will surely knock him out. But instead of finishing his opponent and be left with only 2 to fight against, he quickly jumped back as a wind blade slices through the air where he stood earlier and continued to cut through trees before being disappearing. I could've been dangerous if the girl threw more than one wind blade, but it seems she was content in floating around while letting her companions do all the work.
A loud explosion could be heard and I turned around to see Ortho fighting against the light saber wielding guy. Ortho dual wields pistols while also throwing bombs and traps to keep his opponent at bay. Meanwhile, his opponent uses his shield to block a shot while parrying the other with his sword. As the net travels towards him, he activated something that produced a blast of wind with him on the center that pushed the trap away from him.
"Wow, was that a net that electrifies those it touch? What a great find. Overloading low grade Mananite crystal to make a controlled explosion as strong as an intermediate level fire ball? Ingenious! What else will you show me next dwarf?" The man excitedly exclaimed as he rushes towards Ortho while dodging and blocking elemental gun shots along the way.
Able to close out on Ortho, with only 3 meters of distance between them, he swung his flame sword aiming to end the dwarf's life. At the last second before he get hit, the gem on his boots lights up and Ortho suddenly sped up and was able to put much needed distance from the blood thirsty magic swordsman.
"Oh! An equipment that reinforce the wearer's body you dwarves really like eh? Typical since you folks have weak mana, therefore you can't use Reinforcement and have to resort to create equipment that will enable you to do so. Truly amazing. As they said, necessity is the mother of innovation." He seem chatty even while dodging and blocking multiple shots from Ortho. "If such wondrous equipment were able to make you, a race with weak mana potential, then how strong would these make a being blessed with mana such as me?" He then activated his own boots that enabled him to catch Ortho once more and kicked him with such force that the dwarf was sent tumbling about before hitting a tree. "Wow. The defensive ability of your shield is far greater than I expected. At least it is multiple times stronger than mine. So how did you do it? High grade Mananite? But it is impossible. Miniature shield like what we use should only work with Low Grade Mananite, otherwise it will overload."
"Shut yer pie hole! I don't want to hear your nonsensical ramblings. What I want to know is how were you able to get yer filthy hands on dwarven weapon and armor. If you won't answer that, I will beat it out of your broken body!" Ortho's voice is dripping with anger as he get back to his feet.
The man swings the flame sword slowly, as if to admire the weapon in his hand. "Oh these curious thing? I bought them from a dwarf who happened to pass our town. I got it in a bargain too." The man with an annoying smile in his face replied in a mocking manner.

"Bullshit! No dwarf will sell anything outside our own race! Tell me or I before I lose me temper and beat ye to death with yer own god damn arm that I will sever from yer fucking body!" I can almost see Ortho's vein about to pop out of his forehead as he tries to control his smoldering anger.
"Oh look at that. The midget is angry at me. What ever would I do?" He continued to push him.
"Don't listen to him Ortho. Just calm down and fight like you normally would. Else you might make a mistake that would put us all to danger." Kurt advised his companion as a kick sails just above his head and before grabbing it and throwing him hard at his other opponent. His other opponent just jumped over his companion to deliver a flying kick which was also caught by Kurt and slamming him to the ground so hard that it left a crack in the ground. But before the monk could finish him, another wind blade forced him to back away which was enough for the downed opponents to get back to their feet.
I feel that the woman will be more troublesome. Although she would've been shot down already by either Alora or Ortho if they were not busy fighting other opponents, I find it slightly good that she is just content on lazing around and throwing wind blades once in a while. For if she truly get herself into the fight, I believe it will not bode well for us.
"Heh. Better listen to your bald friend, short stuff. Bring your A-game and maybe I will have a bit more fun while I'm tearing you apart." He continues to mock Ortho before charging at him once more.
I turned my gaze towards the other fight going on in the camp. It seem the long haired female was able to slip past Philip and engaged Alora in close quarters combat. The Elf was firing an arrow at one of Philip's opponent, preventing him from getting flanked from two sides. But doing so, left her wide open for an attack. The long haired woman was quick to take advantage and with a smooth motion, she thrust her short sword towards Alora's neck, aiming to end her life in a single attack. It's over. She wouldn't be able to dodge that.
But she proved me wrong. After firing an arrow, as if she has eyes on the back of her head, she turned around and used her bow to guide the attack away from her. Taking the momentum, she then picked up an arrow from her quiver and used it like a knife and slashed at her opponent's eyes. But her opponent was no chump herself. With amazing display of leg strength, her opponent was able to reverse her momentum and jump back just in the nick of time to dodge the unexpected counter attack. But the Elf was not yet done. Before her opponent could land, she then nock the same arrow in her bow and shot at her opponent who was left with no option but block the attack with her sword.
What an amazing mix of defense and offense in one fluid motion.
Even after getting pushed back rather easily, the long haired woman still doesn't show any emotion and just blankly stood up and resumed her attack against the Elf once more. Quick and deadly strikes were dodged one after another as the Elf continues to support Philip even as she fights off the persistent sword woman.
Philip on the other hand, have his hands full fighting 2 opponents at the same time. A wide swing from the muscular man which leave him open for a counter attack. A quick thrust at his unprotected neck would've sealed the deal. If only they were fighting one on one. Unfortunately, before Philip could take this chance to kill this brute, the other man with a long sword attacks him, forcing Philip to guard.
The tall man is strong but he is reckless. If his companion is not there to cover his weakness, he would've died a couple of times already. But since he have a companion, he continues to swing his sword with wild abandon.
As the fight continued, the hulk's companion was able to flank Philip and was about to thrust his sword on his exposed back. "Philip watch out!" Alora yelled after kicking her opponent in the face, giving her enough time to shoot an arrow at Philip's would be killer.
The flunky was alerted by the shout and was able to dodge the arrow which narrowly missed his head by a couple of centimeters while his thrust was only able to stab Philip in the shoulder. But the small distraction caused him greatly.
With a vengeance, Philip turned around and I felt a great amount of his mana rush to his sword, all the while parrying the Hulk's attack with his shield causing his opponent to lose his balance. "Radiant Blade!" He shouted. A bright light shines from his blade. The light was so intense that I was forced to close my eyes or I would get blind.
When I opened my eyes, there Philip stood. Sword is wet with blood with his opponent dead on his feet, head is cut in half with only the lower part of his jaw still attached to the body.
Seeing his lackey dead, the Hulk roared in wordless rage and his attacks became wilder and more unpredictable. Philip was forced to focus in defense as his opponent no longer shows an opening as the loud sound of metal hitting metal fills the surrounding. But even against the storm of blows, Philip endured, turtling behind his shield. I can feel the mana of his opponent build up for what I think a killing blow. He raised his sword as the Mana in his sword was so great that it is also starting to glow. But instead of blinding light, it is more of a red color, like a red hot steel that can cut through anything. As he swung his sword, ready to for the kill, Philip half-step to the side and bashed his opponents' hand with his shield, sending the sword flying from the Hulk's hands.
It's over!
Philip's swung his sword, intent in decapitating the large man. I felt a large concentration of mana flying towards Philip. He must have sensed it also since he jumped away from the kneeling warrior.
"Durga, you dumb dumb. This is what you get for underestimating your opponent." The floating woman scolded the large man. I guess we know the name of the muscle man. Durga huh… Sound stupid.
"Stay out of this Rebeccah! I got this! I don't need your stinking help!" Durga shouted back. He looks pissed. Lover's quarrel maybe?
"Yeah right. You already lost 3 men covering for your sorry behind and if I am not here your head will also be rolling in the ground like Marcus over there." She pointed at the corpse beside Durga. "They must have it so hard, working under an incompetent buffoon such as you." She then turned towards the woman fighting Alora. "How about it Weylin? Want to work for me instead of this muscle head? I will pay double your salary." The woman named Weylin ignored her as she continued her fight against Alora who is easily dodging her attacks. "Hmmm. Worth a try."
As they argue, Philip tried to attack Durga once more, but a strong gust of wind blew him away. I am right! That woman is strong.
"Don't you know it is rude to interrupt other people's conversation?" She shook her head as without looking she casted another wind blade towards Kurt who was about to hit his opponent in the head, possibly knocking him out. "People today have no manners. Just like you Durga." She smirked.
"You mock me Rebeccah?! I hope you are ready to what's going to happen when we get back!" He quickly grabbed his sword. But this time, I feel that it is different. The mana in his body is not only there to reinforce his body, instead it is also affecting the area at least half a meter from his body. Like the very atmosphere is burning.
"Yeah right. Just end it already. I want to go home for a nice hot bath when we get back from this tiring mission." She then floated back near where her lackeys are fighting.
"Damn that woman." Durga cursed. The very air around him is smoldering hot. "You there. You also humiliated me, forcing that cursed woman to help me. Me, Durga Morphius Straud! Son of the Great Claudius Eustace Straud! The rightful hier of---"
"Your stupid introduction is too long." Philip stated. "Stop your yapping and fight! Better yet, just drop dead where you stand. It will make it easier for the both of us."
"Son of a. I will not stand idle while you mock my pride! It is time to wash this humiliation away." The air seemed to hiss as it touches his red hot blade. "With your blood!" His sword then suddenly burst into flames and renewed his attacks at Philip. As soon as he entered the half meter area around Durga, Philip starts to sweat bullets which soon evaporated within an instant. I don't know why, but Philip looks like he is a lot weaker than before. Maybe it was due to his spell before. He did use a lot of Mana to use that blinding technique.
Seeing that Philip is about to be overpowered, Alora fired an arrow towards Durga but even before it touched his skin, it burned to ashes. "Ha! That will not work anymore you bitch! Weylin, waste that broad!" He ordered his subordinate.
Weylin renewed her attack on Alora, but seeing that her arrows won't work against Durga anymore, she put aside her bow and drew her knife. But even with the reach disadvantage, it was Alora who is dominating the fight as her quick and precise attacks. While Weylin movements are sharp like a blade, each strike meant to take a life. On the other hand Alora floats like a leaf in the wind, dodging all attacks by going with the flow of her opponent's attack and use their own strength against them.
In just a few exchanges, her opponent were already sporting multiple cuts all over her body. To her own credit, all cuts were shallow as she avoids lethal wounds while she tries to find an opening to deliver a deadly attack of her own. A testament to her skill and toughness.
Bodies hitting the ground hard, sound of metal clashing with each other, and loud explosion fills the surrounding as the action gets wilder by the moment.
As I watch people around me fight with their lives in the line, well maybe except the lazy girl, I realized something. I am doing nothing and no one seem to notice me!
Not that I'm complaining. But it makes me feel kinda lonely.
