《Bus driver vs Dungeons [Progression Litrpg]》Chapter 1. [Bus driver] class
Advertisement
Joe Black couldn't believe in that. He got a class: [Bus driver].
Yes, Joe worked as a bus driver; even his father, his grandpa, and a father of his grandpa were bus drivers. The Blacks were a true lineage of bus drivers.
Now Joe could see a proof of that "proud” heritage right in front of his eyes in the form of a message.
[Congratulations! Your evaluation has ended! The system has detected that you have a unique origin: a [Bus driver] lineage!
Congratulations! The system creates a unique class [Bus driver] and gives it to you!]
Yesterday Joe would think that he had gone mad, reading this message, but not today, because yesterday that all had happened.
+++
A day back. Morning of Monday
Joe woke up as usual. He yawned and stretched in bed, still hearing an alarm signal of his phone.
A new week begins today, and that means I need to go to work.
This thought wasn't a happy one. Joe – as perhaps almost everyone on the planet – hated his work. But that was a life; a typical life of an ordinary man. He knew that he needed to work to pay his bills.
Joe visited the bathroom and then went to the kitchen to have his breakfast: a bowl of cereal.
It had happened unexpectedly to Joe. A message popped up right in front of his eyes.
[Congratulations! The system announces to the world about its appearance! It means that the system has installed itself to the planet Earth's biosphere successfully! Humanity, be happy! The system will bring many changes to your life gladly! The system hopes that you will love them!]
When Joe had finished reading this message, a new one popped up.
[The system begins a process of evaluation of all alive beings on the planet! In the end every living being on Earth will get its class and become a part of a new wonderful world! The process will last about 24 hours!]
Joe blinked. He was shocked and anxious.
What's this? A hallucination? The man thought. Or I'm gone mad?
A madness was a rational explanation to all these messages.
Joe stood up and began to walk back and forth in the kitchen.
No-no, I can't be mad! This must be some kind of a mistake; or even someone's prank!
Joe looked under the table. He didn't find any wires there. He had thought that these messages could be some kind of a visual projector.

Joe rummaged through the kitchen and didn't find any cameras. Thankfully, the kitchen was small, therefore he didn't waste much of his time.
I don't understand, He thought. I don't understand! What those messages can be?!
Joe went to the living room and sat at the table. He opened his laptop.
If you don't know something, just ask Google, Joe remembered his best friend's words.
Okay, I hope you are right Mike.
Later Joe couldn't believe in what he was reading and watching. It turned out that many people – if not everyone on the planet – had seen those two messages; which were identical to everyone. Some people had even recorded those messages and uploaded videos on their social networking sites.
At first the government tried to delete all of those comments and videos, but it was a futile attempt. When they deleted one comment, a thousand new ones appeared.
Many people continued to speculate on the Internet; many forums had even been closed due to their inability to maintain their normal work.
Joe didn't go to work that day. Instead the man visited a grocery shop that was close to his house. He had experienced Covid-19 and knew what many people were going to do right now.
Joe was right. The grocery shop was full to the brim. The first mystically disappeared the toilet paper.
In the evening the man watched TV. No one knew anything about “that phenomena”, as different experts called those mysterious messages on TV.
+++
Next day
Joe woke up and went to the kitchen. Yesterday he had bought some food.
The man fried some meat and a pair of eggs.
Interesting, what class I will get?
Many gamers speculated about this yesterday. They all seemed happy. Many were sure that our world would be changed into a game world, like in those Litrpg novels.
Perhaps that system meant not a game term?
Such a possibility wasn't low, because no one knew what that system was.
But if those guys are right, and when the system said the word “class” it meant a gaming term?
This idea was interesting. Joe had even entertained himself by fantasizing about classes which he could get. They all were from popular computer games: all kinds of knights, paladins, rogues, assassins, magicians, and alchemists.
Unexpectedly that message popped up; a message that informed him about his new [Bus driver] class. Joe was taken aback. The man had even felt that he was deceived by the system, because Joe didn't imagine himself as a bus driver in his fantasy.

It seems those gamers were right. Our world has become a game world.
[Choose your affinity: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Electricity, Life, Death. Notice: Choose carefully]
My affinity? Joe thought and shrugged. “Earth.”
He didn't hesitate. An ordinary bus driver spent a majority of his time on the road, thus having an affinity with Earth looked like a good idea.
A new message popped up.
[If you want to see your stats, just say (or think) “Menu”]
In front of Joe appeared his stats.
Name: [Joe Black]
Class: [Bus driver]
Affinity: Earth [1]
*Experience: [0]
Equipment: [None]
Skills:
[Driving: 2]
Active quests: [Inactive]
Ownership of bus: [No]
Bus model: [No bus]
Bus status: [No bus]
Bus garrison: [Inactive]
Bus upgrades: [Inactive]
Bus evolution: [Inactive]
*In exchange for experience you can buy upgrades for the bus or level up your affinity and skills
Joe studied his stats with interest. He noticed that a main focus was given to his potential bus.
Does it mean that a bus must be very important for me? Taking into account that I am [Bus driver], I believe the right answer should be “Yes”?
It seemed that the system decided to dispel Joe's doubts.
[A beginner quest has been generated!]
[The beginner quest: [Ownership of bus]. Description: Find a bus for yourself! And remember: your bus is your fortress!]
Well, now I know the right answer.
Joe waited for a while, but the system didn't send any new messages to him.
A little later the man resumed eating his breakfast. He was disappointed. He hated his work, and now his work became his class.
Just great.
When Joe ate his meal, he began to look for a bus on the Internet. As expected, they were expensive, even used ones.
I don't have enough money, the man concluded, but all of a sudden he remembered about his grandpa. As I remember grandpa owns an old bus. He said that he stores it in his old garage. I hope he hasn't sold that bus yet.
Joe scratched his chin. I guess I will phone him right away.
+++
In a few hours
Doors of the garage were open. Inside Joe could see an old bus.
It is from the 50s or 60s, I guess?
“This is my Bertha!” Anthony - Joe's grandpa - said lovingly and came up to the bus.
He patted the vehicle gently.
“We've spent so many years together, Bertha... And they wanted to dispose of you, because they got new buses, better ones!” Anthony said angrily.
The old man began to walk back and forth in front of the bus. “How could they even think about this?!”
“Grandpa, this is just a vehicle.”
“This isn't just a vehicle! This vehicle saved my life! I told you that many times!”
Joe said. “I know. You told me. Sorry, grandpa.”
Joe tried to sound genuinely as if he was really sorry.
The old man waved his arm and sighed. “Ah, you are too young. You don't understand. Bertha is all my life, grandson.”
Anthony halted and said. “I'm too old to care about my Bertha, and the world has gone mad.”
He patted the bus gently again. “I cared for this old lady for many years. Now it's your, Joe. I left a key inside. Please, care about Bertha, grandson. She is a good girl.”
Joe nodded. “Bertha will be in good hands, grandpa.”
He noticed water in the old man's eyes.
[Congratulations! You have completed a special quest “Ownership of bus”! Reward: 100 exp and [Gray driver gloves]!]
[Congratulations! You have acquired a family relic: the old and proud bus “Bertha”! Reward: 100 exp!]
[Congratulations! Your bus is old, and in the past it had accumulated some experience on numerous routes: 100 exp!]
300 experience in total.
[Do you want to select the bus “Bertha” as your point of resurrection? Additional explanation: you need to have 10000 exp to be resurrected or your death will become permanent.]
My point of resurrection? Joe thought. It means I will resurrect if someone kills me?
It was good news.
“Yes, I do.”
[Congratulations! Bertha is now your point of resurrection!]
“Grandpa, what is your class?” all of a sudden Joe questioned.
“My class? Ah, you mean that.”
Unexpectedly the old man pushed out his chest and proudly said. “I am [Bus driver]!”
Joe tilted his head. “What?”
Now I begin to realize why the system gave me this class.
Unexpectedly Joe received a message from the system.
[Global message! Dungeons are being integrated in your world currently. The process will end in a week. Please, wait patiently!]

The Joy of Evolution
"Alright, so I have this idea, a completely original one by the way, never done before." I say. "Alright, lets hear it." You reply happily. "What if you got trapped in the body of a tentacle monster that looks like a virus in a world that is like a videogame, with skills and... whoops slip of the tendril there, what I meant to say is Mutations and Levels as you evolve your way up from being that lowly creature into a slightly better lowly creature, all the while, an evil devil person watches over you for entertainment purposes." I say making weird hand gestures across the table. "Oh and that main character used to be a human male and uses its past experience as one to survive in this new world as a little mass of flesh." I pull out a little ball with suction cup tendrils and show you. "So, what do you think?" " I dont know seems, a little sameish, I think Im gonna go." You say as you start to get up from your worn but still plush velvet chair. "Wait" I sigh, " I didnt want to do this but you leave me no choice, I promise you an extremely diverse harem..." The door closes as you leave. "They'll come back." I say hopeful. Cover: https://phil.cdc.gov/Details.aspx?pid=21073
