《Decapod》Chapter 6

Reagan and toby had bonded over the past day, Reagan did something, Toby did something, overall it was a very good experience. What Reagan was not happy about, however, was the Japanese spider crab. This type of crab, while looking terrifying, is actually not suited for combat in the slightest, and while it had far reach, unless it got big enough to the point that it's strength was almost that of Toby's, it would be useless.
Reagan was not happy because of this unwanted third wheel in Reagan and Toby's friendship. whenever they were using teamwork to defeat something the Spider crab just sat there attempting to do something, while never actually accomplishing anything. Reagan just didn't like him.
While Reagan was lost in his thoughts a Great White shark came out. While Reagan had a decent size, the shark was still much bigger than him, however, Reagan had discovered a strategy very similar to the ones he used on the BBs in his hatchery. He would get on the back and use his legs to pierce the shark's gills and then continue to punch him. Reagan had realized quite a few things in the past days, such as the fact that you didn't need to apply a mortal wound or do anything that should kill a creature, such as chopping their head off, to kill them. Reagan did not really understand why, but the physical force of an attack would directly harm the other's Health Points, and after that number reached 0 they would simply die.
Reagan's attack proved to be successful as the cocky great white shark had not been afraid of Reagan. It approached and was dealt with quickly. It turned out that this shark had quite a decent amount of experience, causing Reagan to level up two times. He received a notification for something other than his level up though.

Level 10 reached, Calamity of Nature has reached level 1, commencing Heightened Growth.
Reagan burst into pain, although he was confused about the notification, he needed to burrow to stay safe. After that Reagan fell asleep while he grew.
The Birgus Latro looked around after the king had burrowed to grow. The king commonly did this, and this action had proven to keep the Birgus Latro safe under multiple situations. The King was able to move and burrow even when he was in the pain of growing, which confused the Birgus Latro, Whenever he was suffering from growing he could barely move a muscle.
The creature looked around, seeing the other crab that had joined the feud, although it did not seem like the king had liked it very much. While he made sure that the Birgus Latro was alright after every battle, it seemed the king could care less about it. As the Birgus Latro did not have enough intelligence to keep his mind on a straight path, he began to wander around while he awaited the King's return. It was at this time that something had shined in his eye, enough that he looked away immediately, but he quickly looked over to find the source, realizing that it might be a predator. He saw that the source was some kind of rock, but it was yellow and glittered brightly. The Birgus Latro quickly found himself infatuated with this small rock, he could not take his eyes away from it. He quickly stuck it to his back, making sure it would not fall off. whatever this small rock was, he wanted more, he was quickly becoming obsessed.
When Reagan woke up He felt awkward, like something wasn't right. He quickly unburrowed finding himself much bigger then he had been, If his guess was right, he was about double his previous size, Toby barely came up to about half of his leg now. Reagan checked his status,

Reagan inspected his new title.
Calamity I: the user has reached level 10 with the Clamaity of Nature passive. Growth increased 5 levels. levels until the next level of this title: (10/20)
It seemed that every couple of levels Reagan would grow more then if he had just leveled up. If he was correct then the bonus would increase every time he unlocked another one. Causing Reagan to get very excited to start hunting.
When he looked over at Toby, it seemed that Toby had obtained a small gold coin and placed it on his back. He didn't mind though, after all, Toby was his best friend.

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

The Ruins of Magincia
They say all things end in time, but the exalted City of Magi would’ve begged to differ. Yet when an attempted coup goes wrong, the city finds itself brought to the very brink of destruction. In the wake of the calamity that left no survivors, the autonomous infrastructure still operating the ruined city seeks to restore what was lost. Luckily for it, the Mana-devoid Universe it awoke in holds an unexpected surprise: a planet full of sentient life forms. All capable—with a little help—to become the next generation of Magi. Back on Earth, Millie McArthur is a pregnant out-of-work mechanic struggling with the prospect of moving back in with her parents after leaving her unfaithful fiancé. That is until she finds herself just one of the hundreds that have been shanghaied by the callous artificial constructs still manning the ruins of Magincia. Now, she must struggle to learn magic, compete for resources, get good 'grades,' and fulfill the seemingly arbitrary requirements for her future job in this broken city. All while keeping herself, and her son, alive. Is the miracle of magic really enough to make up for all the pain? The Ruins of Magincia is a dark fantasy that's heavy on the drama (LitRPG aspects are very light). Chapter lengths can be anywhere from 7k-12k and there's no current release schedule as I'm focusing on wrapping up volume one.

The Big Yoink: A Smol Detective Story
This is another fanfic set in the universe of They Are Smol, a delightful series of stories which you should totally go read right now if you haven’t. It’s a sequel to my own The Smol Detective. In this story, Oscar Williams and his adopted alien family have to determine the guilt or innocence of another human and her two alien friends. The trio stands accused of stealing a sacred relic, and if it isn’t found soon an ancient religious cold war could turn very hot indeed… Formal Disclaimer Type Thing: I do not take credit for the original setting, this story is set in an alternate version of the 'They are Smol' universe, written by the one, the only u/tinyprancinghorse. TPH takes many forms and is known by many names. He is like Nyarlathotep, only smaller and cuter and more prancey. TPH also has a Website should you require more Smol Shenanigans in your life. Which you do, so get over there and read it. The cover art for this sequel again comes courtesy of the mighty Akella, and they deserve lots of headpats from giant aliens because they are awesome.

Life is Feudal
No OP stuff, status bars, levels or skills. This story is in favour of more realistic setting in a world of humans and various monsters. "Behind the mask of the assertive, resolute facade that employs ruthless routes at any given moment, lies the frail, anxious heart that were once but a puny human. Reviled and revered by many, none would ever know my true allegiance lies within myself, merely trying to survive this mess." Just the life of a grumpy man child living in a terrible piece of shit or a desolate state in which I call an alternate historical take on medieval Europe. Living as a peasant who is forced to take up arms to defend his own kin. This story grants an insightful take on the life of people living under constant danger, from vying nobles who commit atrocities in the name of justice, eager nations and barbarians aiming to take a piece of the bountiful land and mythical divine monsters who resembles a walking catastrophe in any possible way. [If you're easily offended by alternate-history religion and cultural practices, then you shouldn't read this.]
