《Automata Annex》Life, The Universe, and Everything

In the Real World, life has evolved. One might find a little backwater planet somewhere that isn't as advanced but no one cares about them. You, in your world, might find an ant colony on the other side of the planet in a forgotten forest of passing interest but it would never have any sort of meaningful impact on your life. Unless you were one of those sorts that really enjoyed that sort of thing, but even then it would be a form of academic study and not a choice to go live with them.

Here in the Real World, we no longer have the need for such archaic things as Mortal Bodies. As mentioned, Life has evolved. Everyone you know, and essencially everyone everwhere, exist as a form of energy. We are without constraint and without end. We are a collection of our experiences and we ARE the Universe. That said, being an immortal conciousness of energy in a immeasurable ocean of similar beings tends to get boring after a while.

To pass time and entertain ourselves, we have created The Timeline. All forms of matter are just energy when you get down to it, so the creation of such is no big deal. Some enterprising individual came up with the idea of creating a world where we could enter and live out a life time as a resident of that world. Over the eons that idea has been refined and reinvented so many times that now we have vast server farms running billions of worlds for your entertainment.

You couldn't truly immerse yourself in The Timeline if you brought along all of your outside knowledge, of course, so when you log into a new world your past experience gets locked away. It would be impossible to experience true joy, love, pain, fear or deep inter-personal connections otherwise. Once you start a Timeline, you will experience an entire lifetime as a resident of that world. Once a life time has ended, you're free to jump back into that world and try out a new one. Sometimes it's fun to try out a so-called "higher being" with different privilage levels or to try out the life of a bug or purhaps as a blade of grass. Higher privilaged experiences are usually reserved for new users, or newbs. While more experienced users will prefer to experience a lifetime on a higher difficulty setting. It's all about the Experience after all.

Once in a while, when you're in a Timeline, you might catch glimpses of a previous play-through but we try hard to limit those sort of bugs as we find they can disrupt your enjoyment of your Timeline Experience. If you come across any of these sort of bugs or world bleed-over (it happens sometimes when worlds are on the same server) then be sure to report them to your System Administrator before starting a new Timeline Experience.

We are proud to say that you won't find any NPCs or Non-Player Characters in any of our Timeline worlds. Every life you encounter will be another user enjoying their own Timeline Experience. What happens in-world is entirely up to you, the users. We take a strictly hands-off approach so that you can experience all that the world has to offer without feeling restricted.

All of your experiences will be saved to your user account during your Timeline and will be conveiniently bundled for later reflection upon the termination of your Timeline Experience.
