《The Dark Star Emperors》Chapter 9: The Three Generics

The last school bell rang. Students began to leave the school. However, Jack, Yune, and Mary stayed behind.
However, they weren't the only ones who stayed behind. The three generic boys came behind the school.
The three met up and noticed each other.
One of them said, "Huh? I thought this note was from a girl?"
Each one of them had gotten a note with a heart attached. All three of them had found it under their desk after lunch ended.
And each note stated:
"Dear Generic Protagonist,
I have feelings for you and want to confess them to you in person. I want to meet you behind the school building after school.
XOXO Girl in your class"
The notes themselves had been scribbled with hearts.
One of the guys said, "Man, did we get tricked? I was blushing the whole way here."
"Yeah. Looks like we got pranked," another said.
"I guess I should have known it was a fake. Who would use the name of 'generic protagonist' rather than my actual name," the third said.
The three laughed it off, but mostly they were disappointed.
However, three girls walked up to them. The boys looked at them in confusion. They were shrouded in shadows, but their figure were clearly girls.
"Wait a second. Was it not a prank? Did I actually get sent a real love letter?" one of them said. And each one began to blush.
The three girls came out of the shadows.
Mary, Yune, and Jack all looked at the three boys.
"My god, it really is some kind of witchcraft. I can't tell the difference between them. Each one looks exactly like the other," Mary said in shock. The three girls looked from right to left. Left to right. There was not a single difference between the three boys.
Jack then called them, "Alright, you three. You're obviously some kind of Night Demon. So show yourselves in your usual form."
The three boys didn't hear them and were too preoccupied thinking about what to say. They were stuttering as they never expected to get a love letter. Each one of them moved and stuttered exactly the same.
"Are they brothers? No. I can't believe I'm saying this, but they're more like clones," Yune mentioned.

Mary, Yune, and Jack walked slowly towards them. None of them knew for certain whether they were dealing with a Night Demon, so each one was prepared to transform at any given moment.
Clouds formed above them, but there was no rain. Just the clouds blocking the sun.
"W-w-w-wait. I don't know what to say. I-I-I-I've never actually been confessed to. My-my-my hearts not ready," the three said at the same time.
Jack, Yune, and Mary were all in front of the three in confusion. They had no idea what to think about them. Were they Night Demons? Some kind of coincidence?
Mary sighed and spoke, "Alright, I'll talk first. Hellooooo, kid." She waved her hand in front of the boy, who she didn't know exactly whether that was the same guy who stole her seat or one of the other two. But there was no way of telling them apart, so she just went with her gut feeling.
He didn't hear Mary and as he was about to take a step forward, he slipped on a banana peel. She screeched and the boy quickly tried to straighten himself and accidentally grabbed Mary's hands while amidst his fall, and he was kneeling in a romantic pose all while both Mary and the boy were red like roses. Jack and Yune were just confused bystanders.
Mary's confusion doubled. They looked at each other's gazing eyes. Then, her confusion turned to frustration. And as she looked at the boring guy who stole her seat and touched her hands, her anger swelled. Mary, then with all her strength, punched the boy straight in his average face. The guy was thrown back onto the pavement with a bloody nose.
With a red face, Mary shouted, "Don't take my seat!"
Yune and Jack looked at each other and shrugged. Jack punched the guy in front of her and said, "Yeah. That seat is mine!"
Then, Yune proceeded to do the same. "Don't take my seat, either."
All three of them laid on the ground in the same exact pose. With the same exact bloody noses. They were knocked cold, but still alive.
"Whew. They aren't Night Demons. Those monsters would have put up a fight. These guys are just... guys," Yune said.

"That explains... almost nothing. Oh, well. At least, they're fine. We should take them to the nurse," Jack said.
Mary stuttered with a bright-red face, "Y-y-y-yeah. D-d-don't mention any of what you witnessed with anybody. Let's just keep this between us. Yeah?"
Jack smiled like a snake and teased her. "Oh, alright. We won't say anything about you getting all flustered over this guy," she said while prodding her.
Mary screeched to the heavens as her embarrassment just wouldn't let up. This event would be melded into her memory forever.
As the teasing continued, Yune said, "Hey, Mary. Didn't you have some kind of detention?"
Jack and Mary stopped for that moment.
Mary screeched again. "I can't believe I forgot. Although, it probably doesn't matter. Let's just go home and deal with it, tomorrow," Mary said as she began walking away.
"You'll probably get in more trouble. I think there's still some time. Let's drop these guys off at the nurse's office and we'll find this detention room," Yune said.
Mary groaned. "I hate school," she muttered under her breath.
Jack carried the three boys under her shoulder and took them to the nurse's office. Meanwhile, Mary and Yune found the detention room.
Yune opened the door and saw that the teacher was asleep.
"Well, looks like detention's cancelled. Maybe, next time," Mary whispered as she began to walk away, but Yune pulled her back.
Mary groaned again, but accepted it. They looked at each other. Yune didn't want Mary to become a problem student. That would cause what she thought of as "attracting attention". But really, Yune actually felt something akin to friendship.
Yune knocked on the door loudly and the teacher woke up.
"Woah! What-What time is it?" the teacher asked in a daze.
He looked at the clock and noticed that it had been a half hour already.
"I'm sorry, sir, but I have been keeping Mary to help, uh, clean a mess that I made in a classroom. I apologize for keeping her," Yune said while taking a bow. Mary was surprised at her skill at lying. If Mary didn't know any better, she would have believed her.
The teacher looked at the girl bowing and believed her story. And he was also half asleep, so that helped in Yune's favor.
"Well, that's fine. Mary, just come in here and do thirty more minutes and we'll send you home," the teacher said.
Mary slowly walked in.
"Oh, sir. With your permission," Yune said, "I would like to be with her. She's... a roommate. We'd like to go home together."
Mary looked back in surprise. Then, quickly, Jack sprinted to the room and stopped just shortly outside the room. She had just heard Yune speak and decided to also stay.
"I would also like to stay. I don't want her to go home by herself," Jack said.
Mary looked at the two girls and wondered whether it was just a dream. She felt something in her heart that she never felt before.
"Hmm. Fine. Just no talking," the teacher said.
Mary, Jack, and Yune all started to walk and saw the seat in the back corner next to the window. They all started to walk towards it, but each one stopped as they had noticed each other about to go for that seat.
The three chuckled, but the teacher coughed to keep the three silent.
They all decided to just sit together in the middle of the empty classroom. Yune decided to read a book. Jack began to twiddle her thumbs. And Mary just sat there quietly.
During the time, Mary whispered to Jack and Yune, "Why did you two decide to stay with me?"
Yune replied, "Because... because we need to stick together."
"Oh, right." Mary's heart began to close-up again, but it felt nice while it lasted.
Jack spoke up and said, "Well, that, and I think it would be nice if we could at least be there for each other. If anything goes wrong, we should be there to watch each others' backs."
Mary's heart opened a little. And a warm feeling came over her. Something that she had never felt during her lifetime.
Mary began to recall her life. Her memories were quite clear, now.
