Chapter 76. Boss and Gran

Boss and Gran conversed for an hour into the night. Gran wanted more information on the Pope, for as long as he remembered the Pope only had the power of materialization, transforming shapes and objects to what he so desires. It is a known fact to those who have the necessary knowledge that this was the case. However, no one knew what his second power was, a lot assumed it was his ability to calm those around them.

This felt accurate when the powerful figures sent their investigators to spy on him. All of them concluded that it was just an ability to put everyone around him at ease. However, what Boss is telling him was that the Pope was a healer, an ability even amongst Exotics to be considered rare.

After talking to Boss; Gran concluded that he would have to visit Rouge after the trainees leave for Asmar, he didn’t want to put the kids’ training off nor was Marvis in any condition to be moved at all.

He exited the medical room after Boss had disappeared, most likely the alien was going to sleep. He looked out into the horizon, the dark night sky was slowly transitioning to morning.

Sigh

“Why did I decide to train them for two days? Ah, I’m tired.” Gran slowly walked back to his home, he entered his bedroom and began to change his clothes.

While lying in bed sleeping alongside Lotus, the sound of her husband finally returning home caused her to open her eyes. Roselyn looked up at her husband with clothes in his hands and asked. “Are you alright?”

Gran continued to hold onto the clothes, not once turning back to look at her. He softly muttered “Am I past my prime…?”

Roselyn slowly fixed her position and sat up, not once disturbing the baby beside her. She calmly replied, “My husband is always strong.”

Hearing her words, the broad shoulders of Gran started to quiver as he stood there looking down at the clothes in his hands. Tears slowly trickled down his eyes soaking into it. He never felt so useless than last night. His first and second son was injured before his eyes. His third son’s personal teacher is crippled and he, he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

“Come here.” Roselyn softly muttered.

Gran carried the clothes in his hands over and stood before her bedside.

“Lean down and look at me.”

Gran did what he was told and looked into the clear green eyes of his wife. Two arms quickly wrapped around his neck pulling him into a warm embrace. Tears streamed down their eyes as Roselyn held onto him. The clothes in his hands dropped down onto the floor as he fully embraced his wife around the waist, the sound of the two silently crying could be heard.

Sun began to rise outside their window, illuminating the room within. The silhouette of husband and wife softly crying in each other’s embrace finally released.

The two continued to lock gazes upon each other after that kiss and then gazed at to the morning sunrise outside of their window.

“Mm.” Lotus let out a sound as she grasped the back of Roselyn’s gown still fast asleep.

The two parents immediately looked down at their peacefully sleeping daughter.

“Even if we are weak, we have to be strong for them. What are we as parents if the future we give our children is worst than the one we’ve got? Who cares if the world is against us? Even if we are weak, we must protect them.” These words both entered of their minds as they looked down at the sleeping baby of theirs.

The two locked gazes with each other, a newfound sense of determination entered their tear-filled eyes.

Roselyn laid back down and softly caressed the sleeping baby beside her. She turned and looked up at her husband and softly whispered. “Go get dressed, the kids will be here soon.”

Gran nodded his head and picked up the clothes on the floor. The outfit was quickly removed and replaced as he stood before their door. Gran turned around one last time to see his wife and daughter asleep in each other’s embrace and walked out gently closing the door behind.

Knock knock

“Oh? Who are you…?” Benjamin yawned looked at the mysterious veiled figure standing before the door of the mansion.

“Jester.”

“Jester…” JESTER!? Benjamin’s eyes went wide as he looked at the figure before him.

“Come in, right this way.” Benjamin recalled what Angel and Samuel told him last night after they abruptly returned within the mansion.

“A person from the King will be here soon called Jester, let them in immediately.” Samuel instructed.

Benjamin was slightly annoyed at this person he let in. “What do you mean soon, they didn’t show up until morning! I stayed up all night!” Benjamin exclaimed inwardly.

“Hm?” Jester turned around and looked at the sleepy butler standing behind after sensing something.

Yawn

“You may wait here; the lord will be here soon.” Benjamin quickly hid his irritation and calmly walked to the bedroom.

Knock knock

“My Lord, Jester is here.”

The sound of a person falling off the bed could be heard, followed by heavy footsteps as clothes were thrown in the air.

A few moments later the door opened with a poorly dressed Samuel standing in front of him.

Cough

Benjamin reached over and fixed the articles of clothing on Samuel, straightening and adjusting them to make Samuel look proper.

“Thank you, Benjamin.” Samuel replied and walked off.

“Jester!” Samuel’s voice could be heard greeting the person from afar.

Benjamin peeked inside and looked at the beautiful sleeping woman. He slowly closed the door until a faint voice called out to him.

“Benjamin.” A peacefully sleeping voice escaped through the door.

“Yes, my lady?”

“Thank you for staying up all night.” Angel’s eyes remained closed as she muttered her thanks.

“It is not a problem.”

“Mhm…you may go to sleep now, I’m sure you’re tired...”

“No, not at all.”

“…Still…get some… sleep…”

“Yes, I will, thank you.” Benjamin replied.

He waited for a few seconds until the peaceful breathing of Angel could be heard. He gently closed the door and walked towards his own room. It was finally time for him to get some sleep of his own.

“I heard you were here last night; how come you didn’t visit until this morning?” Samuel smiled and asked the veiled figure sitting before him.

“I was, but there was another person I had to visit first.”

“Oh? Is it the Pope?”

“Yep, had to ask him if he knew we were planning on getting rid of him. He said yes, so we chatted” Jester answered.

“I…see…” Samuel was speechless at Jester’s response. There was only this person here who would say whatever they wanted to, with no awareness of the repercussions of what they say.

“What brings you here this morning? I doubt it’s for information.”

“Just dropping by, the King knows about your son going to Naturelle, and I’m here to see if you’re not assisting the Empire in any way. If you two weren’t in, I would kill everyone here.” Jester nonchalantly replied.

“Haha, there’s no assistance, as parents we just respect the boy’s wishes, he was adamant on learning about his eyes first.” Samuel answered.

“I see… I also saw Jacob and Dylan in Boulderville, why?” Jester asked.

“Did you two fight?” Samuel asked with a question of his own.

“Those two are too scared to fight me.”

“Haha, they’re just Arthur’s bodyguards until he’s on the ship.” Samuel answered.

“Tch, fighting maniacs that have too much free time.” Jester clicked their tongue in annoyance.

“Haha” Samuel laughed at Jester’s response.

Inwardly he was thinking something else. The fighting maniac of this country wasn’t his two cousins, but this person he was conversing with right here. Even though it’s been a few years since they’ve last met and the Jester before him has become more political. He knew it just meant that this person was just starving themselves, as he can sense the ferocious desire hidden behind the veil chilling his spine.

“So…will you be here for long?” Samuel asked.

“No, I’m going to leave after this visit.” Jester replied.

“Ah, I see.”

“I’m on an important mission by the King.” Jester spoke up.

“Oh? What mission.” Samuel feigned curiosity as if he hadn’t overheard it yesterday back in Boulderville.

“Going to find a baby and bring it to the King.” Jester replied.

“Oh, the one from the prophecy? With someone like you, it shouldn’t take long for you to find it.” Samuel honestly replied.

“If the baby is in this country, I’ll find it within a week.” Jester replied.

“How many days has it been?” Samuel asked.

“One day, I’m taking my time, so I’ve only been to through a quarter of the country so far.” Jester answered.

The smugness behind the veil couldn’t be masked. With Jester’s ability scouring an entire continent doesn’t take long. Even people with long distance teleport aren’t able to do what Jester can.

“Yeesh, bragging much?” Samuel laughed and asked.

“Why, of course.” Jester answered. The person paused and slowly got up. “Time to go.”

“Already?” Samuel asked.

“Goodbye.”

Jester slowly walked out of the entrance of the mansion and disappeared completely.

Samuel sighed the moment Jester left.

“I thought we would have to fight, thank goodness that didn’t happen.” Samuel muttered to himself and looked around his empty home. It was still too early for even the servants to up and about.

Samuel quickly hustled his way over to his room and placed his hand on the doorknob.

“It’s lock? But I didn’t lock it when I left?” Samuel thought to himself. He quickly realized what had happened.

“Benjamin!!!” Samuel screamed inwardly. Alas, no amount of blaming would open that door this morning as he didn’t want to wake his wife.

Samuel sighed again and pulled out the blankets and pillow from the drawer and placed it on the couch. He quickly got in and closed his eyes, grumbling annoyances at the culprit who locked the door.

“Freaking Benjamin, you did that on purpose.” Samuel closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep muttering those last words.

Benjamin was peacefully sleeping in his own room, a smirk sprawled on his face as he if he can sense the annoyance coming from his lord.

“W-who are you people!? What do you want!?” A bloodied man wearing the gown representing that of a Lumiere’s Teacher exclaimed.

After dropping off the last student he was planning on heading back to Lumiere after staying for a couple days. However, after staying for a few days of relaxing, the day before his departure green and purple robed figures started popping up all over the place.

He immediately sensed it was energy masking the bodies of everyone around him, including himself. However, no one in town besides him seemed to have noticed this change in appearance. It was a masking ability that only affected those with powers. He thought hard about what this could mean and if there was anyone else in the village that had powers.

There wasn’t.

Realizing that he was the target he had to escape from the village, find an isolated spot and attack the target before they could attack him. What he didn’t expect was that there wasn’t just one or two people who were targeting him, there was five. A miscalculation on his part caused him to suffer a sneak attack after avoiding an attack from a green and purple robed individual.

That sneak attack proved fatal.

“Who are we? What do we want? We want a better world.” K1 spoke up and answered.

The moment he finished his sentence, the three purple silhouettes combined their attack and rushed at the injured man in front of them.

Bam bam BAM!

Each attack aiming for the vitals of the man’s body instantly killing him on the spot. The corpse bloodied body plopped onto the ground as they surrounded it.

“Unfortunately, for that to happen some will need to die... Remove all traces P8.” K1 added.

With a lit flame in hand, P8 tossed it at the corpse engulfing it in flames. The heat progressively got hotter and hotter as the flames grew bigger and brighter turning what once was a Teacher into a charred corpse. Eventually, the flames died down with nothing but ashes remaining where that Teacher once was. With a sweep of their sleeve the ashes spiraled into the air and disperse with the wind.

Sigh

P8 sighed as the all traces of what was once a teacher of Lumiere disappeared from this world.

“Don’t empathize, don’t sympathize.” K2 reminded P8. “We must complete our mission. For a better world.”

“For a better world.” The three purple robes repeated.

“Let’s continue.” K1 commanded.

The five individuals continued to walk further and further up north. One of the two green robed individual looked over at the other. “K1, what’s the matter?”

“Jacob and Dylan Galafray… why are they in Boulderville?” K1 thought long and hard about those two.

“Tch, fighting morons.” K2 replied, still irritated about what happened back there. He continued, “Samuel Galafray is the Lord of Rouge, most likely they visited him before heading to Boulderville.”

“Mmm…I can’t help but feel like we’ve missed something.” K1 replied.

“Do we turn back?” K2 asks.

“No, let’s continue. Our mission comes first.” K1 replied as they continued their pace.

“Are we still going to kill people…?” P8 meekly asked.

“Just one more teacher and then we’re stopping.” K1 answered. He continued to say, “Once we’re in Zeldova, you three know what to do.”

The three purple robed individuals nodded their head as they followed the two greens from behind.

“Mmm for a better world, eh?” Boss was squatting down staring down between his legs looking at a small portal on the ground. The sound of weapons deflecting objects can be heard coming from further up ahead.

Gran and the trainees were training fiercely against each other as ordinary things from blankets to grass and dirt on the ground were continuously bombarding the trainees forcing them to dodge and parry anything that was coming their way.

“Oh? Not bad, now let’s see if you can tag me.” Gran smirked as his power of telekinesis erupted to a hundred percent. Hundreds of objects around him, the majority of them rocks of various shapes and sizes, a few blankets, and some tree branches started to rotate around Gran.

The objects begun to spin faster and faster as the trainee’s eyes widen to the spiraling vortex starting to form. The wall of obstacles around Gran expanded outwards, five meters, ten meters, eventually twenty meters of hazardous objects all spinning around Gran.

“It’s still not perfected, you five will help me with it. Tag me.” Gran casually spoke up. “Let’s begin.”
