Chapter 66. Dad this is my teacher

“Dad this is my teacher.” Boulder introduced the red hair gentleman clad in a standard purple and white Lumiere gown.

“Hello, I’m Boulder’s personal teacher Marvis Klein, sorry for coming unannounced.” The gentleman tipped his hat and reached out to shake Gran’s hand.

Gran smiled at the teacher before him and introduced himself “It’s nice to meet you, Marvis, Boulder has been spending the last few days telling me all about you. I’m sorry we couldn’t meet sooner.” Gran apologized and reached out to shake the hand of the gentleman before him.

The moment the two hands made contact the grip between the two red hair power users tightened causing their powers to explode outwards instantly creating a powerful gust of energy wind. It was an incredible sight; Gran was a head taller than the gentleman and his arms were twice that of the man before them. But the man was unfazed from the powerful grip of Gran.

Most of the trainees did not expect the two men to use their powers the moment they shook hand, unprepared Seth, Michael, Julie and Arthur all took a step back from the shockwave of energy released.

Everyone else remained unperturbed from the scene, Roselyn calmly shielded Lotus in her arm, whereas Pebble and Cobble only gave the gentleman a curious look before returning to converse with each other. Dr. Galil calmly hid himself between the two older brothers and didn’t receive much of the impact coming from the energy.

The two red hair power users released their grip a second later after testing the waters and smiled. Before they could continue to converse, Boulder exclaimed. “THAT WAS SO COOL!” He continued “I wanna do that!”

Boulder reached out and gripped his dad’s hands and using all his force to expel out his powers like what he had seen his dad and teacher do. However, Gran just calmly patted the boy’s head and tightened his grip until Boulder felt enough pain to release it himself.

“Ow ow ow dad! That hurt!” Boulder exclaimed.

“Wahaha, sorry son, but you’ve got to be stronger than that if you want to do it.” Gran laughed and turned to the teacher in front of him. “I’m glad my son has a strong teacher like you.”

“Thank you kindly, it means so much to hear that from someone as famous as yourself, but I’m still no match for Gran the Beast of the frontline.” The gentleman shook his head and patted Boulder’s shoulder. “I had to squabble with a few of my peers in order to become Boulder’s teacher.” Marvis stated honestly.

“Oh? You even know that?” Gran raised an eyebrow. Beast of the frontline. It was a name both friends and enemies alike had given to him decades ago when he was a twenty something young prodigy engaged in long and brutal 3-year war between Zeldova and Tillowisk Empire.

“Of course! Everyone in our Power department have heard of your name and believe that are the one who singlehandedly infiltrated the Tillowisk Empire’s camp alone and escaped after defeating every person there.” Marvis worded it softly in consideration for all the kids sitting around.

“Dad, you did that!?” Boulder was shocked. He’s overheard the teachers bicker as to who had done it. He didn’t expect that most of the teachers in his department believe it was his own father who had done it.

Gran ignored his son’s excitement and continued to maintain eye contact with the gentleman before him, “Is it not a rumor that a few people could’ve been the one to have done that? Why do you guys firmly believe it is me?” he asked.

“It’s still just a rumor in Zeldova as to who had done it. But everyone in our department firmly believes that it is you, sir.” The gentleman replied. “If it isn’t you, don’t tell us, those in the other departments would be ecstatic.”

“Competition between department is still as intense as ever, huh?” Gran scratched his head and sighed. He supposes it would be fine if he didn’t admit it.

“Indeed.” Marvis answered.

“Anyways, how come you wanted to meet me?” Gran asked. It wasn’t surprising for teachers to meet with parents, however for most of Gran’s time as a father this had been the first case of a teacher wanting to meet with him personally.

Marvis glanced at all the people sitting and standing around with curiosity in their eyes. “May we go someplace private? It’s a message from the King.”

“Oh? Doesn’t he usually send out his own personal messengers? How come you’re the one telling me?” Gran raised an eyebrow and asked. However, Marvis remained silent.

“Alright, come with me.” Knowing Marvis won’t say it in public Gran relented and entered the house.

Marvis eyes swept the entire group of kids before stopping momentarily on Lotus within Roselyn’s arm. Roselyn immediately looked up at Marvis who had already started following Gran into the house. Her innocent face was calm and serene as she stared at the backside of the teacher who was almost as powerful as her husband.

“That was your teacher, Boulder!? He’s so cool!” Arthur exclaimed.

“Right!? He even has a message from the King! Maybe we’re gonna move to Zeldova!?” Boulder’s eyes brightened at his own words. “Won’t that be cool!? It’s really nice over there!”

Cobble and Pebble who had remained seated all this while glanced at their younger brother and sighed.

“We’re not going to Zeldova, Boulder”

“How do you know Pebble!? The King could make it happen! You guys know how nice the kingdom is, don’t you two want to go?” Boulder asked.

Cobble and Pebble both shook their head and glanced at their mom. Roselyn didn’t say anything, so Pebble got up and dusted himself off. He walked over to Boulder and looked down at the red hair younger brother before him. “It’s exactly that. We don’t want to go live in Zeldova.”

“Brother...?” Boulder looked up at his older brother and asked. He turned to look at his mom who was taking care of Lotus. He wanted to ask her if she felt the same. However, before he could Cobble stood up and blocked Boulder’s sight and stood before him alongside Pebble.

Sigh

“If we wanted to live there, we’re more than capable of settling.” Cobble stated calmly.

“Then why don’t we?” Boulder asked. He was extremely confused as to why both his brothers adamantly rejected living in Zeldova. They were both like him and even went to Lumiere for half their life. Why did they not want to live near a place that had done so much for them?

“Boulder, what do you think about our Village?” Cobble asked.

“I like it, but it’s pretty boring and nothing ever happens…” Boulder honestly responded.

“We like that nothing ever happens.” Cobble answered.

“But don’t you guys want to attract the attention of the King and become Nobles?” Boulder asked. He was repeating what most students back at Lumiere had said when they were asked about what they wanted to be when they grew up.

“What’s so great about being a Noble?” Pebble asked. His face was slightly irritated. “Being a Noble is a stupid farce, and if you believe—”

“Pebble.” Roselyn’s calm voice interrupted Pebble shutting him up completely. Cobble immediately moved out of the way allowing for Roselyn to look at Boulder.

“Boulder, come here.” Roselyn patted the spot beside her. Boulder quickly rushed over and sat beside his mother. “Mom, don’t we want to become Nobles?”

“Why do you want to become something that we already are?” Roselyn asked.

Boulder was confused for a moment before his eyes widen. “W-we’re Nobles!?”

“Mhm.”

“Bu-but I don’t feel like a Noble. All the children from Noble families know each other and wear beautiful clothes…” Boulder weakly responded.

“I think our clothes are pretty nice.” Roselyn stated calmly.

Her response caused Arthur to nod his head. “Roselyn, your dress is really pretty.”

“Haha, thank you Arthur. See my son, Arthur says our clothes are nice.”

“Mooom! What about knowing other Noble families and forming ties?” Boulder continued to repeat things he’s heard back in school.

“Hm? We have ties to other Noble families. Right, Arthur?” Roselyn glanced at the silver haired boy with bright green eyes standing beside her son.

“Uhh… I don’t know?” Arthur replied.

Shelly got up and walked over to Arthur and whispered in his ear. “You’re a Noble, young master.”

“Oh right! Yeah! Boulder, I’m a Noble too!” Arthur smiled at the red-haired boy beside him.

“You are!? Oh, you are!” Boulder’s eyes widen. He had just remembered what he was just told a couple days ago from his brother. “That’s right! You’re a Galafray!”

The moment Seth heard Galafray he completely froze in place. The little kid he’s been training with was a Galafray? His eyes then looked at the girl who calmly turned her head to look at him the moment he reacted oddly. Seth was nervous with sweat; I should have known! Two Exotic children! Who else would be their parents!? Do they know!?

Seeing the odd reaction from Seth, Michael tapped Seth on the shoulder causing him to immediately shiver and jump in fright. “Seth are you alright?”

“Are you okay?” Julie also asked.

Seth realized that the two kids definitely did not know anything about him trying to blackmail the two powerful Galafray servants. He quickly recollected himself and replied “I-I’m fine, I misheard what you said.”

“You misheard Galafray? I thought I said it pretty loudly.” Boulder questioned.

“Ye-yeah, I thought you said G-Galect Bay.” Seth stuttered and responded.

“Galect Bay?” Boulder asked. He didn’t know what Galect Bay was. Almost everyone else was equally confused by what Seth had said. Only Roselyn had a slight reaction when she heard that name instantly covering both the ears of Lotus.

“H-hey!” Pebble immediately rushed over and pulled Seth away.

“What’re you doing saying that place, you freaking idiot!” Pebble whispered and reprimanded. Seth quickly realized he had said something he shouldn’t have and apologized to Pebble.

Arthur was equally confused when he heard Galect Bay and turned to Shelly. “Do you know what Galect Bay is Shelly?”

“Mm, seeing their reaction, young master, I do not want to know.” Shelly calmly replied. Galect Bay was something she’s never heard or seen in anything she’s read. However, from how quickly those who knew reacted, she had a few guesses in mind.

Pebble returned with Seth and coughed

.“Ahem, what Seth meant to say was glabella.”

“You mean right here?” Boss pointed at the spot between his eyebrows.

“That’s right Boss. you’re such a smart boy!” Pebble softly rustled Boss’ wig.

“Why’d he turned all stiff when he heard that?” Boss asked.

Pebble didn’t know how to answer so he quickly nudged Seth telling him to reply. Seth had no idea what to do he just stared at everyone with wide eyes and words started to come out of his mouth.

“I uh, when I was a kid I had a friend who would always hit me in the face right on that spot.” Seth pointed at the spot between his eyebrows.

“Uh huh, but that doesn’t explain why you stiffened up.” Boss remarked.

“Uh… whenever my fr-friend hit me on that spot, h-he would sh-shout GLABELLA! Be-before hitting me right there. Th-that was why I st-stiffened up, I th-thought I-I was going to get hit again…”

Everybody was momentarily speechless at what Seth had said.

“Pfft! AHAHA” Boss was the first to crack; laughing at Seth who was completely red with embarrassment. His laughter prompted everyone else who was trying to hold it in to follow suit in laughing at what they had just heard.

Pebble was the loudest laughing beside Seth and patting him on the back. He quickly winked at Seth for telling such an incredible lie and returned back to laughing as loudly as possible.

“Ahaha! Did you hear that boy’s story? Freaking I was about to kill him when I heard him say that place. But that recovery! HILARIOUS. Ahaha!”

“Hehe, Samuel, be quiet, wh-what if they can hear us.” Angel tried to control her laughter.

“I-I-I can’t ahaha, GLABELLA! Ahaha!”

“Hehe.”

“Teacher Klein, do you not believe that this is an abuse of power?”

“It is loyalty, our people should be unified and grow strong as a whole for our King, no, for our Kingdom. The third war will come within our lifetime, your sons and baby daughter will be in danger if they step foot over there. This decree is preparation for the livelihood of our people. Is that an abuse of power?”

Sigh

Gran remained silent to Marvis’ words, all of his sons have been taught in Lumiere, the King’s decree had little effect on them unless they wanted to become prodigies like himself.

“Does everyone know of this yet?” Gran asked. He was thinking about the little trainees of his who were going to Naturelle.

“Every important figure of towns and cities have been notified by the King’s messengers. The task given to us teachers is to inform the villages and the public to this news. I’ll be going house to house after this. I figured it was best to inform the Chief first.”

“Alright, thank you Teacher Klein. I’ve got the message.”

Marvis Klein got up and was about to leave before sitting back down. He looked at Gran who was wondering what else he wanted to say.

“By the way, have you heard of the recent prophecy?”

“Hm? What prophecy?” Gran asked. He was too swamped with the recent happenings at home and finishing up preparations for the Festival tonight he didn’t have enough time to listen to rumors and prophecies.

“Every Oracle, Seers, and Diviners that we know of in our Country received a strange premonition recently.”

“Oh? What did it show?”

“It’s a little confusing… the prophecies they’ve received was completely the opposite of the each other…” Marvis Klein paused for a moment before continuing. “A child born under heavenly lightning will become either a demon or angel.”

“A child born under heavenly lightning…” Gran muttered and became lost in thought.

Marvis Klein noticed Gran’s abnormal reaction and calmly spoke. “The lightning that destroyed your home yesterday, it was bright enough to illuminate the entire village...might I ask, was your daughter born yesterday?”

Gran remained silent.

“Nevermind, don’t answer that, but rumors have already spread about the lightning that occurred here, and along with the prophecies foretold. It won’t take long for people to make speculations and connect the dots. Might I suggest you don’t let the baby of yours be seen by the public? I won’t speak a word of what I had seen here on the account of being Arthur’s teacher and my respect for you.”

“That’s all I have to say, I’ll be heading out now, I still need to inform the villagers about the King’s decree.”

Marvis got up and calmly walked out of the door. Gran stared at the back of the Marvis who was walking further and further away.

Sigh

Bang

The door closed.
