Chapter 60. Screaming

Screaming could be heard coming from the meditation room from time to time as the handle on the clock ticked on by. An hour passed with Chief Gran walking out without a single expression on his face as he made way over to the kitchen.

Pebble and Cobble was extremely curious about the screaming and yelping that they heard and waited outside of the meditation door. The last few days of meditation had been rough on the boys and they would release a few cries of pain from the training. However, tonight was different when most of the screaming was coming from one specific person.

Shelly and Julie followed each other out and there wasn’t a single sign of markings on their body. This meant that Gran didn’t vastly increase the difficulty on them to make it beyond difficult.

The brothers continued to wait patiently out the door, they didn’t want to walk in immediately after meditation ended as they preferred to be surprised by the situation. Seth, Michael and Arthur followed suit. Their appearance was as expected with markings covered around their entire body for the most part.

“Is Boulder coming out?” They asked the kids who had exited.

Arthur looked at the closing door behind him and replied, “I don’t know.” before making his way over to the sofa and plopped himself down a hint of annoyance could be seen on his face.

The door slowly opened again as both the brothers eyed it in anticipation. They were waiting to see what on earth happened to Boulder. However, to their surprise Boulder only walked out with a couple markings on the arms.

“Eh?” The two brothers were perplexed as they looked at each other. They had believed that Boulder would’ve taken a lot more hits than just what was shown based on how frequently he screamed within the room.

“What’s going on here? I thought you got smacked more than that.” Pebble asked.

Gran walked out of the room with a cup of water followed by servants with snacks and drinks. “He was just screaming.”

“Why?”

“Mmm, why indeed? Why my son, it’s only been two days since you’ve come home why were you acting up?” Gran asked.

“Yeah, why were you screaming so much, I couldn’t even concentrate.” Arthur complained, it was the first time in days that he took the all 60 hits, it felt awful losing that streak he was building up.

“I-I don’t know either, I just had to scream. I-I don’t know why.” Boulder stuttered as everyone looked at him. “It’s true, I felt like something inside me wanted to scream so they screamed through me…” Boulder was visibly shaking as a cold sweat could be seen forming on his forehead.

“I know you guys don’t believe me but—”

“Chief!” A servant ran into the living room straight for Gran in a panicked manner.

“What is it?”

The servant whispered into Gran’s ear causing his eyes to go wide. “Let’s go!” Gran raced up the stairs with the servant trailing from behind.

“Did something happen?” Julie asked Pebble and Cobble who remained seated at the sofa.

“Let me go check.” Pebble disappeared from his seat and vanished into the second floor. His footsteps returned and his face was bewildered and panicking just like that of the servant prior.

“Mother is in labor!” Pebble shouted creating a commotion from those within the group.

“Let’s go!” Everyone ran upstairs crowding the hallway as they stood outside the door. Servants continued to run in and out with both panic and excitement in their face as they brought fresh towels and water into the room.

Gran’s head peeked out of the door out with excitement and sweat perfusing down his face. “Pebble, Cobble go get the water from our pond and bring it up here. Quickly!”

Pebble and Cobble instantly moved the moment Gran finished his sentence. They both race down the stairs as fast as they could.

“Can we do anything to help?” Julie asked Gran who was looking at them.

“Just stay out there!” A little childish voice could be heard shouting from inside.

“Boss!?” The entire group was flabbergasted. Was Boss still with Dr. Galil and Roselyn this entire time!?

“Shouldn’t he be out here with us?” Seth asked. However, no one knew how to respond. Only Arthur and Shelly knew that Boss was not a 10-year-old kid and might be more helpful inside. Michael and Julie didn’t know much about Boss either, besides him being the bodyguard for Arthur and Shelly and a temporary Emissary for the Pope.

“Where the heck is the pond water!?” Boss’ voice could be heard again coming from inside.

Pebble immediately ran in with two buckets of water and handed it over to Gran who was waiting at the door. “More! Drain the pond!” Boss shouted from inside.

Gran returned the empty buckets into Pebble’s hands and handed a few more buckets to the rest of the group. “Go get as much water from the rippling pond as you can and bring it to me, hurry!”

“We’ll bring it inside for you!”

“Hand it to Gran, don’t bring it inside!” The little boy’s voice corrected. “Go!”

Like well trained soldiers listening to their leader’s command everyone took a bucket and ran downstairs passing Cobble who was coming back with two enormous tubs of water, one in each arm. Cobble only gave them a short smile before carefully making his way back up the stairs.

“Nice Cobble! Again!”

The entire household ran downstairs and removed buckets of water from the pond. The ripples within the pond was becoming more vigorous and was splashing about.

“What’s with this pond!?” Seth exclaimed as he looked at the pond.

“We don’t know!” Michael replied and dumped his buckets in and ran back inside. “Let’s go! Question things later!”

“Oh my gosh what is happening? When I was told that Roselyn was in labor, I wasn’t expecting this! Why the heck is Galen just standing off to the side? Why is Boss doing all the work and MOST IMPORTANTLY! Why is she encased in a soundproof bubble? I can’t even hear her from over here.” Gran thought to himself.

“I tried to enter the bubble, but the little brat was like “I wouldn’t do that if I were you”. Like what kind of situation requires me, her HUSBAND, to not even be there beside her in her time of need? What gives my servants more rights than me to enter that bubble!? Oh my gosh, just look at her she’s suffering!” Gran’s mind was racing as he looked on at Roselyn who was pale as sheet.

“Now is not the time to lose your mind, Chief! You’ve already done this three times, help me out here!” Boss was filling a small wooden tub of water beside the bubble encased Roselyn. No matter how much water he poured it the tub never seemed to fill up.

“Wh-what do you mean!? I-I’ve never had to encase her in a bubble or use this much water!” Gran refuted; however, he quickly went over and helped Boss slowly pour the water into the tub.

“That’s because they’re freaking weaker than this twerp, holy moly why is this baby so damn annoying!?” Boss’ forehead was covered in sweat as he continued to extract all the energy within the pool and place it into the tub. “I should just freaking drop you in the damn pond you little shit.” Boss continued to grumble.

Smack!

“Wh-what was that for!?” Boss angrily shouted at the old man who smacked him on the back of the head.

“That’s my son you’re talking about, be thankful it was just a slap” Gran continued to slowly pour water into the tub while Boss returned to extracting the rest. “Can you tell me why my wife is in that bubble?”

“Now!? Right freaking now!? Can you at least towel me first?” Boss’ forehead was dripping with sweat, he was fully focused on condensing the entirety of the water from the pond.

“Not until you tell me why she’s encased in a bubble! Why are my servants only allowed to enter!?” Gran questioned while hovering a towel a short distance from Boss’ face.

“Because they have no energy!” Boss continued “Did you forget what happened a freaking month ago!? That was when it was in the damn belly! Now, towel me!”

Gran wiped the sweat off Boss’ face and continued to say, “But Galen doesn’t have energy either.”

“He does now!” Boss didn’t want to answer Gran anymore. He was currently racing against time. “Where the heck are they with my water!” Boss angrily shouted; the entire water brought in was almost extracted he needed more.

Knock knock

“Get it!” Boss commanded Gran who hurriedly ran over to the door and bringing in more buckets of water. The little kids and the three brothers continued to run in and out bringing in water from the pond.

Boss continued to frantically extract all the energy in the water and place it in the tub.

After almost an hour Boss managed to wipe the sweat from his forehead for the first time as he leaned back against the wall. “Phew, it’s all done, tell the people outside we don’t need any more water… if there is any left at this point…” He then turned his head over to Roselyn. “Now, it’s your turn, I’ll try to keep you alive.”

“What do you mean you’ll try to keep her alive? My wife won’t die from this!” Gran was about to smack the little kid again when the kid turned his head over, the wig and glasses fell off revealing his pure black hair and eyes to Gran freezing the old man completely in place. The sheer pressure from that look alone made Gran felt like he had just looked at an archaic monster.

“Not her, the baby.” Boss sighed as he paid close attention to infant within Roselyn’s belly. He carefully put the wig sunglasses on and continued “You may not know this, or well now you do, but I’m not from this world.” He paused and continued “Before I slowly made my descent into your world, I had to make myself extremely, pitifully weak.”

“Why you may ask? Cause if I didn’t, the moment I set foot on your either my power will accidently blow it up, or it’ll blow itself up trying to stop me.”

His words confused Gran even further, was there really someone who could blow up a planet just by trying to land on it? Why would it do that? Can a planet even do that?

Sigh

“You’re probably thinking why, eh? Well, I’ll tell you since I’m going to need your help for the next part.” He continued to say, “When I descended all so elegantly, I only knew I was going to fool around in a mortal world with weak little monkeys and relax for a bit.”

“Turns out, your little world can evolve, and you guys aren’t exactly the monkeys I was hoping to surround myself with. But, since your world can evolve, and all you guys can harness energy I uh, decided to tinker around a bit. I won’t go into detail about the evolution of your world, because that takes too much time.

Knock knock

“Don’t need anymore water, thank you!” Boss shouted at the people from outside the door. The door slowly creaked open with Pebble and the group sneaking their head inside “Can we come in?”

“No, stay outside.” Boss replied and pushed the door closed with his powers preventing them from opening it again.

“Anyways, as I was saying, I decided to tinker around a bit, like what would happen if I were to produce a child that would become the peak existence of this world? Well, don’t slap me for this, but I didn’t want to have my own baby, so I used yours. Or well, I gave the baby within Roselyn’s body some of my own energy, just a bit not even a millionth of one percent of my original power.”

Gran glared at the boy who was casually telling him all this.

“What? You two just left the pond out there for me to do some tinkering, don’t blame me for your ambitions.” Boss commented. His words instantly shut Gran up, he realized Boss knew exactly what that pond was.

“Anyways, everything should’ve been fine; I followed the rules of this world and you two were going to have a powerful baby Exotic. You guys get what you wanted, and I get what I wanted. Happy ending, right?”

“Well here’s the fuck up. Like usual things don’t always go the way you want, everything I did was perfect. However, there’s an issue, your baby doesn’t want to just be a normal peak existence exotic. Noooo, it wants to ruin my plans and do whatever the heck it wanted!” You damn brat! Wait until you come out, I’ll smack you real good.

Ruuuumble ruuumble

“Earthquake?” Pebble muttered. everyone outside the room felt tremors running all through the ground.

“Quickly! Out of the house!” Shelly exclaimed, her face pale.

“Why Shelly? It was just a little shaking, it stopped.” Arthur asked.

“Young master, quickly!” The panic and surprise on her face was real as she pulled Arthur along not giving him any say in the matter.

Seeing the young boy and girl run out of the house everyone else hesitated on what to do. However, a loud booming voice from within the room made them hesitate no longer.

“GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!” Gran exclaimed.

“Wh-what’s going on!? What about you and mom!?” Pebble exclaimed.

“Get out! We’ll be fine! Stay as far away from here as possible!” Gran continued to shout from behind the door.

“Can you be quieter? Sheesh. Anyways, listen to your father, don’t worry it’ll end soon.” Boss’ calmly commented in a childish voice. “Now, go~.”

Before they could even say another word, everyone’s leg seemed to have a mind of their own and ran outside by themselves. In the far distance the rest of the group saw Shelly and Arthur already standing at the front entrance of the gate alongside the gatekeepers.

Barkie, Silver and the rest of the animals were also standing at the gate shivering as they looked at the house further in the distance of them. If it wasn’t for Barkie and Silver commanding them, they’d have banged their heads against the gate until they got through.

“The hell is going on!? What happened to the sky!?” Pebble instantly shouted when they regained control of their legs, dark clouds started forming around the entire village. He and the rest quickly ran over to Shelly and Arthur who was the first one escape out of the house. Fear, panic, and anxiety were shown on everyone’s face as the darkness overhead became blocked out all light within the skies.

“Mmm… earthquakes already? Where’s the lightning?”

Boom! Ruuuumble, rumble.

Small tendrils of lightning followed by thunder instantly collided with a tall tree in the back completely severing it in two. The leftover energy snaked in all directions burning up anything within two meters of the severed tree.

“There it is!” Boss exclaimed as enormously dark clouds converged around the home blanketing the sun completely. He continued, “I told you what would happen if I, an anomaly beyond your world’s capabilities descended without limiting my powers. That I would accidently blow it up, or it’ll blow itself up trying to stop me.”

“Tell me, what do you think happens if it an anomaly was born on its own?”
