Chapter 47. They had made it
They had made it back to their room only to see Julie’s entire body wrapped around Boss as her hand continued to smack his red face. Her face was also red from Boss slapping back every time she slapped him.
Julie and Boss both noticed the entrance of Michael and Shelly and separated from each other. Julie softly rubbed her red cheek and noticed the boy lying in Michael’s arm. “What happened?” Julie asked her face was filled with shock as she secretly threw a glance in Boss’ general direction.
Boss also gave a surprised expression and followed up. “I was expecting him to fall asleep, but I didn’t expect him to cover himself up in so much sand. What happened?”
“Boss, there’s something you should see.” Michael stated. Boss hopped out of the bed while Michael placed Arthur down on it.
“Alright, let’s go~” Boss took the lead and stepped out of the room. Michael caught up beside him. Julie saw that both the boys was just leaving like that she wanted to go. She looked down at Shelly who had a slightly perplexed expression after checking on Arthur.
“What’s going on?”
“Let’s follow them first.” Shelly replied. She didn’t know what to say yet.
Screams of participants continued to fill the air as they exited the Inn, villagers continued to run around with their demon masks. Those who couldn’t handle the scares anymore were brought back to the Inn. The wife and husband Arthur and Michael were chasing earlier was also back their face was pale as sheet as they tried to collect themselves. The scare the villagers threw this time was beyond their comprehension, how many different Exotics did it take for them to throw such an event, nobody they asked knew.
Roselyn and Orchid remained within the Inn taking care of the participants. Or well, Roselyn chose to take care of the participants and Orchid decided doing this will also make her look more favorable in front of Gran’s eyes.
More than half the participants brought back to the Inn was caused by Gran, Pebble, and Cobble. The father and sons racked up the most scares and caused the greatest number of participants to faint during their time outside.
Barkie and Silver borrowed some of the animals within Gran’s estate and carried out their scares. Usually using themselves as innocent decoys while the larger animals snuck up from behind. Or pure on just use the animal army and chase the living hell out of the participants until they tired out. Silver preferred the former method whereas Barkie chose the latter in their scares.
Julie let out an alarmed gasp as the four entered the fog. The entire quadrant of the village was destroyed. She immediately noticed the large handprints on the ground and looked at her own, it was a hand of a human, a freakishly enormous human.
“Oh? This is cool!~” Boss’ shout of excitement startled both Michael and Julie. The kid scanned the surrounding and smiled.
“Grrkerklfer”
“Take off your mask first.”
“How is this cool?” Michael took off his mask and retorted. The place a mess and he had no idea what had caused it. The monster could be anywhere, Arthur was unconscious and didn’t wake up yet for them to question him. How were they going to explain this to the villagers?

“How is it not? Look at this mess it’s absolutely fantastic!” Boss was giddy with joy.
“What do you mean fantastic!? Look at that hand! It’s enormous and the homes are all tattered to pieces, how can you call this cool!?” Michael was annoyed. Boss’ nonchalant attitude during this situation and his lack of explanation didn’t help ease Michael either.
“What I’m saying is there’s nothing to be worried about and you all should be pretty excited in the future; this is not bad at all.” Boss was lost in his own thoughts and continued to nod his head admiring the wreckage in front of them. “Anyways, let me clean up this mess and then we’ll head back.” Boss waved his hands and the rubbles and wreckages started flying around, bits and pieces were reconnecting reconstructing the village back to what it once was.
“Alright let’s go~” Boss raised his fist in the air and exclaimed. Michael was too annoyed at the kid for not explaining anything to even marvel at the fact that the kid before them just reverted everything back to normal.
Michael quickly ran up to Boss’ side and demanded him to explain what he had meant.
“Ask Shelly, she’s been giving me the weird look ever since we’ve left the Inn.” Boss sent all his troubles to the girl behind them. Shelly furrowed her brows at Boss underneath her mask and remained silent.
“Shelly do you know what’s going on?” Julie leaned down and raised her mask to ask.
Shelly shook her head and sped up her speed, she didn’t want to say anything for the time being.
The crew returned to the Inn only to see that there was nearly double the number of participants than when they had left. Seeing their appearance, a tall dark-skinned person walked over.
“How was it, Chief?” Boss asked.
Gran let out a childish smile and laughed heartily. “It was amazing, I hadn’t had so much fun in awhile!” His loud voice of excitement irritated every participant within the Inn, it wouldn’t be lying if we said that more than half currently standing around here was because of Gran. If glares could kill, Gran would’ve been killed a hundred times over by those within the Inn.
Gran paid them no mind and rustled Boss’ hair. The kid the Governor sent over was beyond his imagination, “I really like what you did here, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to scare people so much.” His words caused the participants to immediately turn heads and stared daggers at the little boy standing in front of Gran. It was him that did this to us!
Seeing that all eyes were on them Michael and Julie shuddered. Boss’ mouth was agape forming an O shape, he didn’t expect Gran to be so shameless as to put all the blame on a kid, even though all of it was true.
Cough
“Ahaha, what’re you talking about? We planned this together, I just helped out a little bit that is all.” Boss replied.
“No, no, don’t be so modest, I only asked for you to confuse them a little to make it easier for us to scare them, I am truly grateful that you decided to go make this event as great as it is.” Gran responded with a smile.

The door to the Inn opened again with another bunch of people walking in like mindless zombies. Coming from behind was the brother duo of Cobble and Pebble. Pebble walked over and tapped his father on the shoulder.
“We’ve got everyone.” Pebble removed the mask and smiled.
“Already?” Gran asked, it was only half a day since the event started and everyone who entered were brought back to the Inn because they couldn’t handle it anymore. He continued “Is there no one else that was willing to come inside?”
“Most people changed their minds when they heard screaming.” Pebble commented. He even urged the guards to get more people to enter, even using copper and silver coins as an incentive. However, no one was willing to take another foot in when friends of theirs didn’t return to tell them about it.
Gran was a little dejected because of this, however, it was probably time to call it a day as he looked over his shoulder and shuddered from the glares he was getting.
“Attention everyone!” Gran raised his voice and caught the attention of everyone within the Inn. “I, Chief Gran, a Prodigy, leader of over 200 strong men and women who can be summoned at a moment notice.” Gran used his position of power as he looked at every participant in the eye, showing that he was unperturbed by their glares.
“I thank you all for participating in our annual scaring event, and it pains me to say this, but with no other participants who are willing to enter, the event has come to an end!” The crowd sighed in relief when Gran finished his sentence. They just wanted to get away from the whole thing.
“We will throw a feast tonight for everyone gathered in early celebration for the welcoming of all our wonderful children coming home from school!” Gran continued, his words caused everyone both participants and villagers to roar in excitement. It wasn’t something he had done the previous years, so it caught everyone by surprised when he stated it.
“And I promise, there will be no scaring involved, unless you’re scared of well-cooked meat!” His words caused most to laugh and chuckle.
“In the meantime, you may all wait here and while we restore the village back to normal. As another token of gratitude rooms within the Inn will be free for everyone who participated, just go register with Orchid at the front desk.”
Gran’s final sentences caused Orchid to smile brightly. She couldn’t believe Gran mentioned her name to everyone within the Inn. The participants quickly lined up as Orchid got everyone a room.
Gran returned to look at Boss and whispered, “How long will it take to restore the village? And do you have any meat?”
His whispers were so quiet no one besides the people around him heard him clearly. Boss was shocked at Gran’s second question. “You promised a feast you can’t deliver?”
“It was in the heat of the moment; I do have meat but it’s not arriving until tomorrow.” Gran continued to reply in a hushed voice. His words caused everyone to roll their eyes at him. Pebble and Cobble facepalmed at their father, they were about to ask about the feast themselves too.
“What about the cattle at your estate?” Michael asked.
“No, those are not for eating, we’re using them for providing the town with eggs and milk, only when they die naturally would we eat them.”
“Well, the answer for the first question of yours is that it is done, and for the second one, why’re you asking me for meat? I don’t have any of that.” Boss replied.
“Can’t you teleport somewhere and bring back some meat? I’d ask Orchid, but she’d definitely ask me for a favor in return.” Gran thought about what Orchid wanted and shuddered. He also wasn’t sure if Orchid could teleport meat, but if she could teleport his servants, she should be able to do the same.
“For an old experienced two-time war veteran, you’re pretty unreliable.” Boss grumbled. He continued “But it’s fine I’ll go get your meat; you can tell the people that the village is back to normal after an hour.”
Boss turned around and started to walk off.
“Where are you going, Boss?” Michael asked.
“Where else? I only know this place and that place.”
Before anyone could respond Boss had already vanished. The moment Boss left Shelly turned around and made her way back to Arthur’s room, she wanted to see if he was awake and okay.
Michael and Julie were left alone alongside Gran, Pebble and Cobble. Gran patted Michael and Julie on the shoulder and smiled “thanks you two for your hard work today. Join us for the feast tonight I’ll be happy to have you two there.”
Julie gave a slight bow and replied, “We’ll be happy to attend your feast.”
Gran nodded his head in satisfaction and left to return back to his wife. Pebble and Cobble told them they’ll see everyone at the feast and departed. Pebble shouted from afar “Remember, try to catch me tomorrow, you’ve only got 6 chances left.”
Michael and Julie walked outside of the Inn and strolled for a short walk to the village, the sunlight was bright and warm calming the two. The event that just happened the past few hours felt as if it was all an illusion as they walked beside each other down the empty village.
…
Knock knock
The door opened as the butler glanced down to see a familiar face. A surprised look was clearly shown as he looked around only to see the people the kid was supposed to bodyguard was nowhere in sight.
“Come in.” The butler stated a short moment later and held the door for the kid.
Boss quickly made his way to Samuel’s study and opened it with a bang slamming the door into the wall.
Samuel looked up and his face was more surprised than Benjamin who had opened the door.
Before he could ask Boss spoke up first. “I need meat, lots of meat.”

Tryphant Agent's Historical Logs
[Disclaimer: This novel is no longer in continuation since I've found more joy in writing short stories. I'll continue writing about this universe and the world in it, building upon the documents of the Tryphant Agents but in another novel] What is the origin of life? What is the meaning to life? Are we the only intelligent being in this universe? Why haven't we been struct by a catastrophe??? How has the world been so peaceful for such a long time?!!! Is there a hidden force that controls our world from being destroyed?!!! How have we not noticed them!?!!! Am I just delusional??!!!! I'm definetly delusional. These are the questions that mortals often ask and frequently ignore in their life, yet answering these questions will lead a person to the Tryphant Agents. An organization who protects various civiliaztions from destruction time and time again without a single person noticing them. They are an organization that is like time, powerful yet unnoticed. This is the historical logs of the Tryphant Agents. Disclaimer: I'm writing this to fill my world with details and I'm only hoping for this to be a good story. The main core focus is to write characters with life into them, a world where it feels real, and story that is consistent. Don't expect a top tier story because this will be my experimental logs as well where I will try various writing styles. Rather I wish that you hope for a great story instead.
