Chapter 39. Michael broke
Michael broke free from the despair he felt and directly reached out to the girl in Shelly’s arm. He held her limped body into his embrace as tears fell from his eyes.
“Quickly, we need to take care of her.” The only thing on his mind was the girl before him.
Gran who had witnessed this entire scene moved and softly wrapped Julie in a blanket using his telekinesis. “Let’s go.” He carried Julie back into the house and placed her in a guest room on the second floor next to that of Roselyn’s.
Dr. Galil saw the commotion and quickly walked next door to see what had happened. Seeing the unconscious girl on the bed, he walked over and felt her pulse.
A moment later he sighed, “she just fainted.” He then turned around and looked at the watery eyed people in the room. “What happened?”
No one could possibly answer the doctor’s question and he just remained silent as the sniffs within the room didn’t dissipate.
“How is she?” Michael exhaled and asked.
“She just fainted from exhaustion, she’ll wake up in a day or two.” The doctor assured Michael. Dr. Galil didn’t ask again when he saw the helpless looks on everyone’s face. The strangest thing was that he thought they were crying because Julie fainted, however it might be his imagination, but it seemed that Michael had everyone’s attention.
Michael paid them no mind and sat beside the bed and held the hand of Julie. The scene within the fog circled around his mind, causing him to hold her hand tighter. The other people within the room excused themselves leaving Michael and Julie alone.
A strong look of determination fell upon Michael’s eyes, he saw a glimpse of the future, he saw that his hair and eyes were still brown by then. “I’ll just need to find my internal energy.” He muttered.
The rest of group sat downstairs in the living room on the sofa. Their voices were slow and quiet as they conversed, they didn’t want to believe what they saw, but it was clear that the last scene, only Michael’ arm remained on the scene.
Morning transitioned to noon, the tears in everyone’s eyes had dried, both Pebble and Cobble came home during this time after checking on the work for the event the village was going to hold in a few days. The look of surprise on their face as they saw the helpless look of the kids sitting on the sofa.
Their first thought was that their father had overdid his training and destroyed their mental state. However, Seth told them that it wasn’t it. They noticed Michael and Julie weren’t around, so they asked about that.
Gran walked out at this time and heard his sons asked about Michael and Julie, “Julie fainted as is in the guestroom besides your mother. Michael is with her right now.” The two finally got their answer and sat down in the living room. They asked about the training and the kids and Seth managed to reply.
It was only the question relating to Michael and Julie that Gran interrupted and said that she just fainted during training, it seemed even their father didn’t want to tell them exactly what happened.

Both Pebble and Cobble noticed the change in atmosphere when they asked that question, so they immediately changed the subject and continued to converse. Eventually, some laughter could be heard coming from the group as they made jokes and told funny stories about their past.
Gran’s eye turned towards the front door and got up from the sofa. Once he was halfway there the sound of knocking could be heard.
Knock knock
“It’s me~” Boss with his brown wig and sunglasses was waiting for them to exit. Gran who already heard the sound of Boss’ footsteps earlier opened the door. “Do you want to come in?” he asked the kid.
“Mm, you got food?” Boss’ question was dumb as he already walked into the house. “I’ll go get the servants to prepare lunch, the kids are in the living room.” Gran replied causing Boss to smile in delight.
Boss walked in and made his way to the living room, he sat down on the sofa with Arthur and Shelly paying no mind to an intense stare coming from a certain person nearby. Seth finally saw the kid that stole their meat casually sitting beside the other two. He wanted to shout, “It’s you!” but the kid didn’t even glance in his direction and just sat down kicking his legs too short for the full height of the sofa and humming a tune.
“We’re eating here, today.” His first words were about the food. Pebble and Cobble shared wary gazes when they remembered this kid ate half their kitchen in one sitting. Luckily for them the kid only sat on the sofa and didn’t walk straight for their kitchen.
“Hm? Where’s the other two?” Boss asked, no one managed to speak up before Boss continued “Oh, they’re upstairs, what happened to Julie?” his words shocked Seth who was staring at him, no one in the room even had time to tell the kid yet he knew Julie was upstairs.
Seth decided it was better to be cautious around this kid, he noticed the sunglasses and brown hair on the kid. He recalled the kid had sunglasses on when they met in their room, too. A look of understanding as he paid closer attention to the kid.
“Boss…” Arthur’s voice was feeble and weak. “You have to save Michael.” Arthur’s words confused Pebble and Cobble. Is it not Julie who fainted? What happened to Michael? They decided to keep quiet and listen.
Boss looked at the kid’s pleading eyes and directed his gaze over to the calmer appearance of Shelly. He pointed at the girl “tell me what happened.” Shelly glanced at the curious look of Pebble and Cobble. Boss also looked over at the two as they looked back.
Pebble and Cobble were about to excused themselves when everyone’s gaze was upon them. However, Shelly paid them no mind and turned back to look at Boss before her. She slowly recounted what happened during training leading up to the final event of the day.
Pebble and Cobble’s expression was serious by the end of the story, they finally understood why Arthur wanted Michael to be saved.
“Oh, was this what the Pope meant by Julie’s destiny? Hm, nah this isn’t it.” Boss began to mutter to himself creating his own deductions. Everyone’s eyes were glued onto the kid as he spoke. Destiny? Not it?

“Weird creatures eh? How old did they look?” Boss saw the confusion on their face. “I meant Michael and Julie.” Shelly thought for a bit, “Only a few years older, if I had to guess 3-5 years from now.”
“3-5 whole years? Why do I need to save Michael if it’s in 3 to 5 years? He then looked at the two kids besides him. “That’s too long I won’t do it unless it’s right now.” The kids could only helplessly look at the impatient appearance of Boss before them, wasn’t he an immortal that lived multiple millennia and didn’t even know his own age?
“You won’t do it?” Arthur’s nose started to itch.
“Nope. It’s too long, I will forget, you can do it though.” Boss excused himself from the trouble and placed it on Arthur’s shoulders. “3-5 years should be enough time for you to not be completely useless, right?”
Arthur didn’t know what to say before Boss continued “If Michael dies in 3-5 years, that just means it was meant to be and you two were not strong enough to stop it.”
“Can we really change the future?” Arthur asked.
Boss gave Arthur a dumb look. “Of course, you saw that Michael in 3-5 years was still brown and useless right? Just… I don’t know have him wear a colorful wig and some sunglasses in the future. See? Future changed.”
Everyone gave Boss a strange look, was it as easy as the kid had said? Arthur felt determined to change Michael’s destiny and decided in the future, he’ll force Michael to wear a wig and sunglasses at all time.
“You can just change his appearance, then the future will change. Or you can just get stronger and change it yourself. Time is an illusion that you all assume is linear, but it can be changed, twisted and reversed… if you’re strong enough.” Boss words was shocking to behold to everyone couldn’t completely comprehend what he meant.
Shelly gave Boss an odd look, did this mean the kid before her can mess with the fabric of time itself?
“Can you change time?” Shelly asked.
Boss then pointed at a wooden pendulum clock that was mounted on the wall nearby. “Behold!” The little kid shouted as the arm of the clock stopped and reversed in time.
“Behold!” The arm then reversed again speeding forward.
“Behold!” It reversed again and stopped in place.
“See I’ve changed it 3 times.” He then saw the blank look on everyone’s faces. “Don’t worry it’s back to normal.”
Gran made his way over during Boss’ demonstration, he saw the arm of the clock spin around unnaturally when Shelly asked if Boss could change time. He also paid close attention to the movements around the house and upstairs, nothing changed during Boss’ demonstration. He sighed in relief when he realized the kid only just changed the time of the clock.
“Lunch is ready.” Gran stated calmly after arriving. Boss immediately hopped up and bounced to the kitchen table. Everyone else just shook their head, Boss was just too much.
“I’ll go get Michael.” Arthur stated and ran upstairs. Michael turned to look at the opening door when Arthur arrived. “Lunch is ready.” Arthur whispered.
Michael then turned around and saw the sleeping girl before him. “I’ll be down in a bit.”
Arthur nodded his head and turned around. “Boss is here.” He paused for a moment “He said destiny can be changed.” Arthur was determined to put a colored wig and sunglasses on Michael once he said that.
Michael was lost in thought to Arthur’s words, Michael really believed that destiny can be changed, he was determined to change it himself. Hearing the little boy speak he softly released Julie’s hand and followed out the door a minute later.
“Michael will be down in a bit” Arthur stated as he sat on the table. Food was being brought out by the servants one at a time until the table was completely full of sparkling dishes.
Boss’ mouth was drooling. “Let’s dig in” he wanted to eat immediately.
“Wait for Michael.” Shelly replied.
Luckily for Boss Michael arrived a few seconds after Shelly told him to wait. Half an hour passed by before every dish on the table was licked clean. “That was delicious.” Boss let out a hearty burp showing he was content. Michael excused himself immediately after they were done eating, he wanted to stay with Julie.
“Should we all stay here and wait until Julie wakes up?” Boss asked. He then turned to look at Gran. “A few more rooms prepared for us please.”
“Alright.” Gran replied.
Michael returned to the room and sat before Julie. A few more hours passed by as he sat there, everyone during these hours came to visit and check up on both Michael and Julie. Seeing that they were fine they’ll just say a few words before quietly leaving.
“Julie, I don’t know if you can hear me, but I’ll change that future of mine. So, please don’t worry about me.” His lips started to quiver as tears welled up in his eyes. “I’ll become stronger, strong enough to change what we saw.”
An hour passed by and Julie’s eyes started to flutter as she let out a yawn. “Julie?” Michael looked at the girl in confusion, she woke up a lot sooner than he expected.
“Michael?” Julie wiped her eyes and saw the person before her.
“Julie!” Michael embraced her causing her to look at him in confusion.
“What’s wrong? Did I pass Gran’s test?” Julie asked. Michael who was hugging her froze for a moment. Tears welled down his eyes when he heard her ask that question.
“You passed, you exhausted yourself, but you passed.” He was so grateful; so grateful she didn’t remember. They both held each other tightly, one in excitement, the other in tears.
