I was hiding about 20 meters away from them and heard everything that they discussed from the beginning till the end.

By focusing my spiritual energy to my ears and also because my hearing had improved I was able to hear everything crystal clear. My hearing had improved but that didn't mean I could hear more clearly. I could hear sounds that were at a lower frequency or higher frequency and also more far than before but I couldn't discern them and could only hear a jumbled mess if I tried to hear things very far.

The focusing of my spiritual energy to the ears made me ignore the useless noise and focus on what I really wanted to hear. This also worked for sight and smell.

After talking for some more the four of them left the money to the middle aged man but that was not all they left him. With the money they also let him their last words and wishes.

Huuuuu. You have to calm down and not left emotions cloud your judgement."

*BANG*

A loud bang was heard .

"What happened? Is it the creatures?"

"What they broke into the city? We're doomed, doomed I say.

I never should have never come to this damned city. I should have instead listened to my father and continued the family business."

The few people that roamed the streets conversed loudly with each other and shared with each other their thoughts which were all over the place.

The four young city guards that had left returned. They had also heard the loud sound and came back to see what it was only to find a small crowd of people loudly talking to each other about the city wall having fallen and the monsters were coming to eat them .

"What happened here?"

Hal shouted at the crowd of people and everyone turned towards him. Their eyes shined as soon as they saw the four city guards.

This same thought crossed the four young guards mind's at the same time.

"Thank god the city guards are here. There was a loud sound that came from that direction "

" Yes , yeah it was quiet since the morning when suddenly a loud bang was heard.

Was it the monsters? Did they break in?"

The people all started to talk at the same time . Some explained the situation , some asked questions and some just stood there waiting for something.

*CLAP*

"People , please calm down. There's no way for the enemies to infiltrate the city unnoticed and there is no way for the city to fall in their hands soon, especially on the first day."

*Chatter* *Chatter*

"Yeah he's right. How could those filthy creatures invade this city so easily. The city hasn't been breached for more than 200 year's. It's imposible for them to to do so as it was imposible for everyone before them."

"Yeah , yeah. We just have to wait until the army sent by the emperor comes. They will definitely destroy these devilish creatures ."

The mood of the people was restored for now.

"Anyway please disperse from this place imediately as it is forbidden for more than 3 people to be seen together outside. If you don't comply you will imediately be apprehended and sent to jail .

IS THAT CLEAR? "

Hal shouted the last sentence for everyone to understand that they weren't playing and as expected and in less than a minute they all went on their merry way .

After the crowd dispersed they went to the place where the sound was heard.

I wasn't long for them to find the cause of the loud sound.

In front of them was a wall as any wall in the city. It was made of rocks and mud. Even though it was made with such crude materials it was a thick wall with a thickness of more then one meter making it very sturdy.

This sturdy wall in front of them had their full attention or more exactly the big hole that was in it. The hole was about 50 in diameter and the other side of the was could be seen clearly.

The four of them were stunned and couldn't say anything for a while so they just stood there in silence until one of them did something .

Mal approached the wall and raised his right arm and then started touching the edges of the hole .

"Mall what are you doing? Stop touching the wall and come here."

Hal shouted.

" Calm down will you , it's just by a wall.

Aaaaaa....

What is happening?

Something is dragging me . "

"Mal...

They all shouted and rushed to his aid . His arm was inside the hole.

"Quickly drag him over."

The all grabbed Mal in order to get his arm out of the hole when they heard laughter.

"Hahahahaha....

The one laughing was Mal.

They were confused. Why was he laughing when something or someone was dragging him from the other side of the wall and then it suddenly clicked.

It was a flash of inspiration that came from experience.

At that moment they all understood ; this fu*ker had been faking it. It was just one of his unfunny jokes that he played all the time since he was little.

*Slap*

" You fu*king idiot we thought that you were in danger."

"Why you got to make these kind of joke's at a time like this."

"Not funny , not funny at all."

"Hahahahaha ,come on guys you really didn't find it funny. Aaaaa , someone I dragging me aaaaaa.

The other three looked at each other before they all burst into laughter.

The heavy mood that had made them tense left with every laugh they made.
