The next day.

I finally found out something more about the current situation.

The army that had invaded by crossing the border was just a diversion to draw the Empires attention and the real goal was to attack the cities at the border of The Eternal Light Empire.

The enemies had teleported about 10 km from Palos city and had set camp there but except the initial attack of the flying creatures there had been no other movements.

It seems that the enemies were gathering all their forces and this was just the calm before the storm.

This whole information was conveyed to me by Faley.

He sent a Griffin Rider to escort me to his position and I couldn't bring anyone else. So as most times I left my important people under the protection of my most trusted friend , Munnji.

"Mr Faley,l would usually say 'Its nice to meet you again',but right now the face I would like to see the least is yours."

"*Sigh*

Please accept my deepest apologies Mr Hunter. I didn't know that the mansion I sold you was the center of a teleportation array that was the enemies set up .But in my defense I will say that I didn't know."

I hit the table hard.

"This doesn't excuse you completely. You dismissed my warning and you see what happened?"

"Yes, you are right , but do you think anyone would have believed me? "

'He is right.'

"So for what purpose have you called me here?"

Faley got serious.

"The teleportation point was at the location of your mansion so the higher-ups want to ask you some questions."

"Why are you beating around the bush? Why don't you say that they want to find someone who can take the blame and that person is me?"

"I'm sorry but I can't do anything."

"You can't do anything?

Faley, you seem to underestimate my intelligence and have mistaken me as an honorable man...

But let me tell you, honour in my eyes is as good as a big pile of shit.

So the question arises; what would the higher-ups say if and that is if I say that you were involved in this situation somehow?"

Faley cleched his jaw so hard that his teeth could be heard grinding against each other.

"My friend why are you being like this. It's only going to be a slight questioning about the mansion.

There is nothing to worry about."

"Faley. I'm not someone who likes to talk more than needed ,so let me make you an offer.

You are going to accept me and Munnji as hired bodyguard and with the influence of the Trinity Merchant Group I can avoid this hassle."

"Mr Hunter, what you're asking of me is..

After one hour I made it back to the temporary place we were staying. It was the inn where me and Munnji first stayed when we entered Palos city.

It hasn't changed at all with the exception that all the rooms were full of people.

I knocked on the door.

"Come in."

I opened the door and entered the spacious room.

Inside were Munnji, Rosela with Naga and Girg.

"What did Faley want to talk to you about?"

"Oh, he just wanted to say hello and ask how we were doing."

[What's the real reason?]

[He wanted to use me as a scapegoat to appease the higher-ups but it didn't go as he planned.]

[So what type of deal did you make with him?]

[Well I didn't really have to make a deal with him as I could just have threatened him, but that would just destroy our partnership completely.

I just made him hire us as bodyguards of the Trinity Merchant Group.]

[That's to good to be true, so where is the cach?]

[The cach is that we will have to fight to protect the City and we will be in the front protecting the city walls.]

[That is....not that good. We will have to face against countless of those creatures and risk our lives protecting this city.]

[Oh no, it's not as bad as you think. The main reason why I proposed this deal was that I would be able to gain precious time. This time will be used to figure out a plan B for when/if the city falls we will have a plan of retreat .

Also don't tell me that The Mighty Munnji is afraid of these creatures?]

My father has fought in the same side as these creatures so I know of their terrifying power.]
