《Offworld》Warning 2

The beastfolk followed the scent he got from the coin and entered the same alley that me and Munnji had entered.
He walked for about 10 meters in , but imediately stoped in his traks before raising his head towards the sky and taking snif.
He closed his eyes and seemed to contemplate something.
' This smell is definitely the smell of blood and dead bodies.
It seems that someone has died here recently.'
*snif* *snif*
He sniffed again .
' Besides the smell of dead bodies there seems to be two other smells, but they are faint ,indicating that they left long ago.
Fuck, it seems that the targets found out that they were being tailed and fought on this alley.'
The beastfolk continued onwards with slow steps until he finally arrived at the place.
The first thing he saw were two human head's on the ground. One was with it's eyes closed with a lot of blood on it's mouth while the other one had it's eyes opened in horror and a pool of blood was at it's neck.
The beastfolk was taken aback.
'What the hell? '
He was so scared by what he saw that he almost started to pray to his god, but he pushed that fear down and approached the two heads more.
After he got closer he found out that the bodies were also there and not only the heads ,but the bodies were buried up to their neck and one of them was decapitated while the other by the looks of it killed himself by biting his own tongue.
He also took a look at the surroundings and concluded what had happened.
These two had been ambushed by two other person's by the looks of the footprints and the smell.
The hunters had become the haunted and this was the outcome.

' Hmm, from the looks of it one of the attackers was a fairly powerful earth elementalist ,the other one unknown. They lured their persuers into this alley by pretending to be drunk and then ambushed them.
The poor fuckers didn't know what hit them.'
After his preliminary evaluation of what happened he then dug up the bodies trying to find anything else ,but he didn't .
After searching for some time and not finding anything else he left the alley and headed in an unknown direction.
.....
One hour later at an underground facility.
* tap tap tap *
The sound of footsteps was heard echoing in this long and dark corridor. The walls were all made of earth and there was not that much lighting except for some glowing fungus in the ceiling.
A black robed individual walked through this corridor until he arrived before a metal door. The door didn't seemed to be made from steel, cooper or any other metal that was usually used to make doors but from a dark blue metal.
The black robed individual came to the door and knocked into it a couple of times in a peculiar way, as if he was knocking in some kind of pattern.
*Clack*
A narrow opening appeared on the door and in it appeared a pair of black eyes . The person that was behind the door took a good look at the black clothed individual and then asked.
" Did anyone follow you?"
" No , it's all good."
* Clack* *Clang*
* Screech*
After the short conversation the metal door open and the black robed individual came in.
......
He walked through some more corridors until he again arrived at a door but this time it was guarded by some beastfolk.
" Is the madam inside?"

" Yes,she has been waiting for you."
After hearing that from the guard the black robed individual entered the room.
The inside was bright compared to the other part of this facility and in the center of the room was a woman with her face covered by shadows staring straight at him.
" Did you find out what happened to the two that we sent to follow the human and beastfolk duo?"
" Yes .
After following their tracks into an alley I found their dead bodies and no sign of the targets."
"So those two were killed?
Are you sure that it was those two and not anyone else?"
" My nose dosen't lie so, no."
" Was any information extracted from them?"
" Im not sure,but from what I saw * cough* cough*...
Excuse me.
From what I saw there seems to be no signs of torture on the bodies except for a broken jaw in one of them."
" Good.
Go, rest now. You have other business later."
" Understood."
*step step*
* Cough* cough*
*cough* cough* cough* *cough* cough* cough*
As the robed figure was about to go out he exploded in a coughing fit. He was coughing so hard that it seemed he was coughing his lungs out.
He continued coughing and coughing non-stop , his body became paralyzed on the ground and he stared bleeding from his mouth, nose and ears.
" Guards come here imediately."
*Bang*
The door opened imediately and inside came the two beastfolk that were guarding the door.
As soon as they came in they saw the robed figure laying there in the ground.
"One of you go see what is happening to him."
The one on the right approached and squated to see . He put his hand before his mouth to see if he was breathing.
" Is he alive?"
" No , he's definitely dead and from what I'm seeing he died from a very potent poison."
"Poison?"
A chill passed through the woman's back.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
