《Sun Collector》Chapter #43 Outpost

It was a spectacular ring.
After closely inspecting it cannon man put it back in his chest. "If I were you I would strengthen groups in the outpost instead of investing in a few people," he said.
I wanted a group to call my own not going around strengthening small groups. "I know that's what I should do but I'm enjoying life right now," I said
Cannon man spoke with a grim expression."Our numbers for the outpost is to small for the amount of space we have. We have close to two hundred people when there is enough room for a thousand. Think about how many people die on their way here or out in the forest."
"You could change those numbers, you know that right." I looked out through the clearing and to the treeline. "I did make a looter squad and they've been doing very well for themselves," I said.
He seemed taken back by those words."Then why not do that for everyone here" Because I want a strong team to support me"
"Maybe ill make myself a second their ring my body was strong enough to support it now," I said
Cannon man said, "Do you even know what the requirements for the second tiered ring are?"
"No I don't, do you know how to find out?" I said
"No, I don't I do know that I'm the only one in the outpost with a second their ring." He said
"I assume your ring makes the cannon stronger. I said thinking I was smart.
"yes that's correct," He said.
"I want to go out into the forest someday." Cannon man slightly turned and then he turned back. "If you want to go, your going to have to go with grand elder you're to valuable to lose.

"can you set that up for me," I asked
"Ill ask when they get back" Thanks that means a lot to me. I said
With that, I returned to my room and spent the rest of the day reading about the history of the sand bar.
Maybe I could go back and be a deep sea fisherman. I know that I get more resources staying here at the outpost.
I went to sleep while thinking about these things.
The next day when I got up I went to train with the kunai. My instructor this time was so good I could never hit him.
The day passed with me practicing kunai all day long.
I could now throw them and they would always stick in the practice targets. Satisfied with my progress I went home to eat a starfruit and then went to bed.
The next day I decided to go with grand elder and rose to go looting.
I arrived at the gate and waited for them. Grand elder arrived with rose and I spoke "Can I go with you this time."
"Yes, you can we won't venture deep into the forest so that you can come." I replied with an "okay."
We stepped outside the forest and walked to the treeline where we dove into the forest.
There was vegetation and when we looked we found normal berries and 10 year berries. "We won't venture out farther," said grand elder..
Rose picked the berries faster than I could. we came across a ten year rabbit wich grand elder killed with a snap of its neck.
After their sacks were full of berries and one rabbit we made our way back to the outpost. The forest had more plant life then I imagined.
With my first successful adventure into the forest, I was feeling good about myself.

I now had a thousand mana and I could go out into the forest although I liked the winery and the bar more. If that was all there was too looting then I would rather others do it for me.
While I was thinking about making rings I wondered if I could make a second tiered one.
The best way for ability rings to work was maxing out your base ability with ability rings. Rose for example had the correct ability ring for the ability she naturally had.
"Rose are you strong enough to support another ring?" I asked her.
"Yes I am" she replied.
"Is it because you eat all the good things you find?" I asked.
"Yes my body could just barely support a second ring." Well, that's interesting I thought to myself.
"Ill think about trying to make you a second teir ring." I said
"Do you want to spar" I asked her
"Your going to lose you know that right?" Rose said as she activated her ability and made a shadow clone of herself. We were roughly equally strong bodies because I knew she could support a second ring. So when she used her ability I knew I couldn't win. "I give up" I said to her.Grand elder chuckled a little. "So you are smart," he said.
Smart enough to know that looting isn't that fun. What was fun was that wagon ride. "I thank you for letting me come with you." with a nod of his head he said "Your welcome"
I returned home after that and looked through my book and found the berries that I had gathered and their use. After eating another starfruit I decided to stay in for the rest of the day.
The next day I got up and put on my glasses. What I saw astonished me. There was a large leopard heartbeat eating from the corpse of a deer with jagged horns. Grand elder and rose were watching waiting for it to have its fill and leave. The deer carcass was huge. Eventually, the leopard left and grand elder ran up and put the entire thing into his bag and they sprinted off.
The deer must have been at least a hundred year old. Looks like I will be having venison for tomorrow's food. I had been eating starfruit for a while and my skin had gotten tougher.
