《Sun Collector》Chapter #34 A Wild Time

To the bar it was, the tavern had a friendlier atmosphere anyway.

Maybe this time I would get lucky.

With a puch, the door swung open and my senses were instantly assailed all at the same time.

"Come in come in" Someone said as they saw me sitting at the door.

The atmosphere was festive this time.

Everyone was singing along to the bard's song and clinking cups it looked like I had made the right decision.

I walked up to the bar and ordered a beer so I should join in the merry-making.

"Here you go," the bartender said while handing me a frosted mug.

As long as ale was cold I didn't really care about the taste.

The crowd near the fire looked to be the merriest and everyone was centered around them.

I heard the voice of what looked like the leader of the band. It was husky and hoarse but strong never the less.

"Tomorrow we may die but tonight we live like kings."

I heard the roar of the tavern around me as they resonated with his words.

After that everyone broke up into groups around the fire and started conversing.

"Hey there," I said to one of the merrymakers that wasn't in a group.

"Hey" she responded I could tell she didnt want to talk to me but when had that ever stopped me before?

"So do you come here often?" I asked with a smile, it was my classic opener.

"I guess I could be considered a regular. I mean everyone here knows me." She said with a slight tilt of her head upwards so I could stare down into her eyes.

"If that's true then what do you do for fun after you get done drinking?" I asked genuinely curious.

"If you stick around long enough tonight ill show you," SHe said with a wink.

Well, this was going swimmingly I couldn't think of a better time.

"Follow me," She said as she gave my hand a slight tug.

We went to the center of the commotion and introduce me to the bard."

He hung his head slightly and said "I have just the song for you."

"If ever he did love

an adventures life

never will he love another adventures wife"

He looked to be quite proud of that tune, I didn't think it was so great.

"I loved it," the girl that brought me into the circle said as she patted him on the shoulder.

Im, sure she had told me her name at some point but I was too many drinks in to recall it.

It didn't seem like night as the drinks were passed around and the fire danced on everyone's face.

Time seemed to flow faster until eventually half of the crowd dispersed and the other half all seemed to know each other.

The girl who was leaning on my shoulder pretending to be asleep lifted her head and whispered into my ear.

"Nows when the real fun begins."

"I'm ready," I told her in my drunken daze.

"Let's go," Said the bard

"I'll follow you music man," I said while stuttering out my words.

When we got outside the merry band all pilled into one wagon.

I was well and truly drunk at this point.

Like the words, I could hear them but they wouldn't come to me.

"Here we go" I heard the crack of a whip and was thrown to the back of the wagon.

Startled out of my stupor for a moment I could hear their voices.

"Let's go, this ain't nothing."

"Whip the horse harder"

"Come on just a little bit."

That last voice sounded suspicious it came from behind me but I didn't want to take responsibility for seeing it so I didn't turn around.

Instead, I made my way through the crowd to the front so I could see where we were going."

"Hey, bard where are we going?"

He looked at me amused. "We can't have any fun while we're in the fortress so we just have to go outside."

He said that as we passed through a gate we were now riding around the outside of the outpost.

Everyone was hooting and hollering until the crowd started chanting faster.

The leader of the band apparently had a useful ability that allowed him to use other people skills on other people.

I was too drunk to use big words.

As several ability rings flickered on in the cart I could only feel the excitement.

With a flash, the horse doubled in speed. The brave bard seemingly unafraid of falling up stood up and started singing a beautiful song.

Everyone started chanting faster, "faster!"

I wanted to be part of this merriment permanently, there had to be some way I could prove my worth.

"Bard I can set of um fireworks."

The end of my speech was slurred but he seemed to understand.

"You set them off and ill sing a song worthy.

The horse doubled its speed again the bard played a new tune and I prepared to set off sunspots.
