《Tales of Disruption》What about the Landfills?

Franklin Jones, a nanotech-cyberneticist, worked out on his levitation exercise machine, but it made an unusual buzzing noise. He tried to determine the sound's cause and synced his mind to the VR-net to see if others complained about the same problem.
Sure enough, they did with many enraged comments:
"Horrible company! Unable to contact customer service!"
"Took them three weeks to send the wrong part!"
"They wanted to charge me for return shipping!"
"Where is the service manual? Piece of junk."
"Hey all, contact the reseller. They'll send a replacement at no charge. They won't even ask for the original back!"
Franklin programmed experimental nanites that he was developing to diagnose and repair the machine. He then sprinkled their dust all over it—and within seconds, they entered inside of it and worked invisibly.
Once he stepped on and hovered over the machine, it ran perfectly silent.
...
One late evening, Franklin's brand new holoprojector broke, pixelating scenes, so he sprinkled the nanites on it, and just like the exerciser, they repaired the problem.
Franklin contacted customer support to complain, who offered to replace the holoprojector.
"What do I do with the old one?" asked Franklin.
"Please toss it away, Mr. Jones."
"But, what about the landfills?" Franklin grumbled.
"It's our policy, sir. We'll drone drop a replacement for you within 24 hours."
"Never mind. Skip it!" Franklin disconnected.
He later looked at the holoprojector's dissatisfied customer reviews. The customer service did the same thing, replying to each one with a free, no return required drone drop replacement offer.
Franklin wrote in his journal:
"Our throw-away culture is destroying the planet. But my nanites can solve the problem!"
Franklin neural synced to the VR-cloud to 4D print billions of more nanites. They swirled like giant tornados in his backyard. He had programmed them to spread throughout the globe to seek every piece of non-essential technology. He then initiated their launch with a single command—dismantle.
