After numerous test runs, he could only affect inconsequential things like a feather blowing in the wind—everything else passed right through him.
He journaled:

Daryl materialized in the backyard of his childhood home and saw his father raise it to his head, staring forward but blinking as if seeing Daryl’s apparition in disbelief.
“No, father, don’t!” Daryl shouted at the top of his voice but to no avail.
The fate of the universe remained sealed.
