Dr. Daryl Smith built an intelligent time machine in his lab, he aptly named—‘Chrono.’
To create a temporal bubble passing through an instantaneous wormhole—a portal to the future, but never the past.
Daryl recorded—
“How many years? Fifty? A lesser chance for any dramatic changes.”
“Chrono, set jump for 50 years and initiate.”
He accelerated through a kaleidoscopic-tunnel of sights and sounds, a doppler effect nearing lightspeed.
“Journey completed, Daryl. Warning, lethal levels of radiation detected.”
Daryl saw an endlessly barren landscape out to the horizon, and a starry night sky.
“Of course, everything, through the wormhole ...”

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. There's a Hero in the Kingdom follows the prince of the Kingdom of Sengar and his closest allies as he seeks out the newest hero that has appeared within their borders. Can he convince the hero to join in his efforts? This is very much a work in progress with the intent that it might someday be a proper series.
