《Cent Five》Chapter 17: Tracked

Getting away after that was easy. After a while, their shouts and curses disappeared. I think Nephos killed them with her vines. She's only used them for binding and restricting enemies until now but she is a monster. There's no reason to be surprised about this.

"Did you kill them?"

"No, two of them survived." 2, I think we can take on 2. They must be very strong if they can still survive. "How are you doing? Are you feeling better?"

"Yes, I feel much better."

"Why did it happen?"

"I don't know but it's because I've been uprooted. We cannot survive without our trees." This is going to be a problem. How could I overlook this? Putting out that quest for Lem and calling her down. The sole reason for any of that was so, I could try and save her.

"Do you know what [Sunlight Essence] is?"

She's just shaking her head. "I think that's the reason why you got so sick. It's just a hypothesis and I don't have any evidence for it."

"That's only one of the things that are required. We need the right soil, in the right pocket of earth. There are many conditions for our planting."

"Ok, how much do we have? By when exactly do we have to plant you?" This question made him a little uncomfortable. It was akin to asking someone, how long until you die.

"I don't want to plant myself, I just need to find that man. You promised me revenge, I don't see you exerting any efforts towards that." I take a deep breath and think. Killing him won't have an effect, PKing him just pushes him out for an hour. Instead, he needs to be so miserable that he leaves the game.

That's the closest she'll get to kill him. Should I tell her about how he can't be killed? Well, he can but not in this realm. I do have another idea but I push it away. I'm not going to kill him in real life.

The one way to do that would be to just PK him over and over again. I let her be for now. I'll ask her to share her status screen and find out what classes I should get her. Her being stronger is better for me though, her comments do sting a little bit.

I move up to Lem and our employer, we're trudging through the outer bounds of the Grem forest. It extends all the way up to the city we're trying to reach. Walking is going to turn this into a 2-day thing. I and Nephos are going to be fine but the problem is with Lem. She's going to reach her limit and have to log out. Being attacked then is going to be a problem.

The problem is she can't log out here. If she does, she'll be spawned right here. Maybe, she should get on her wolf and head straight up and log out there. It sounds like a good plan but her wolf's gone. Those attackers killed it. I don't think she can summon it for a while.

"Do you have any more summons?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Something like a horse or wolf. Anything you can ride."

She shrugs, "No, I have 2 other summons but they aren't in the steed category. If they were I would summon it for her." I just nod, there's nothing to be done about this. She's referring to our employer.

She hasn't said a lot since we ran away. However, I don't think this is the kind of service she was expecting from us. Still, I'm not poking the hornet's nest.

I think I can relax right now. We just need to keep on walking until we reach the city. The attackers won't-

"I think someone's following us." Just, great. "Lem, do you have a weapon I can use? Anything above the common grade."

She sighs and pulls out a spear. "You cheapskate, spend some money on a weapon." I really should, she's right. I grab the spear and it's my first time using it. The range is one of the biggest differences and I can't move it with as versatility as my short-sword.

I enchant myself with all three of my buffs and cast [Hardened Skin], on the other three people. They're basic enchantments but anything is good right now.

"Do you know where they are right now?" They're heading straight for us. I see a sharp glint and move out of the way in a panic. The arrow still hits my arm and sends me reeling. I break my fall with my spear. This is the worst.

"Nephos, restrain them!"

"They're moving around too much."

I duck behind a tree, it's good to cover for now. There's a series of arrows coming in over and over again.

Lem summons some sort of bird monster and locates one of them, it's killed before she can do find the other one. She PM's me their location and I move out.

The Armour gives me insane agility and I use it to my advantage. I burst in through a bunch of hedges. The attackers were surprised and I smile. I use my spear to stab him straight in the stomach. I lift him off the ground and throw him away. Armor strength is no joke. I move in and pierce his throat. It's a downward motion and quite easy.

A flaming inferno engulfs me and my robe is burned away. I turn around and the other attacker is here. Not time for camo this time. He's staring at me. I heft and use the spear like a javelin. Vines grow out of the ground and restrain him. I launch my spear at him and he's dead too.
