《Cent Five》Chapter 13: Ear

I've researched the JaredEater and his entire build revolves around hunting and cooking. He's known for trying out different types of food in-game. There's nothing from his streams that indicates he'll catch up to what I'm about to do. Unless, he has an item of that sort but that's a risk I'm willing to take.
I don't have time to watch the Stream so, I just hop into the game. I was away for about three to four hours. I'm surprised by how much time I wasted. It's a given since, I decided to walk all the way there.
There's that rush of light and endorphins and I'm back in the game. All that soreness and pain travelling through my body is gone.
I look down and I'm still in my Armor. Items equipped before logging out are still there unless, you die. There is a chance of dropping your items if you die, I don't know how it's calculated but people have lost items worth thousands of credits due to PK.
I look around and the dryad isn't here. I knock on my metallic head. I haven't named her yet. What am I doing?
But where exactly is she? There's a few unread PM's from Lem and I open up my console.
[I'm taking her out for a girls trip.] There's a moment of panic when I think about whether or not she took her into the city. I mean she's not that stupid but still.
I message her back with, [Where are you guys?]
There's no reply back so, I decide to practice the new enchantment formula I bought. It's embossed on a silky fabric with specific instructions underneath.
Its name is, [Third Ear]. Its meant to be used for recon, I intend to use it for spying on Jeon990 and JaredEater.

I decide to move on and try it using my Air Writing Brush. It takes me more than twenty times to get it right. The number of times I practised it on the ground is insane. The one thing that mining day in and out has given me is an ungodly patience. This isn't boredom compared to what I had to go through in those mines.
When I get it right, the enchantment insignia glows and fades into the air after a few minutes. I need to be aware of that glow. I keep on practising using my quill for an hour or so after that. It's very wasteful but I need the practise.
I also test the range as to how far away I can go from the enchantment and still listen to it. I need to stay near it but I think its range extends out of that pub. Out of sight, out of mind.
I decide to go down there right away. I don't have time to waste. I walk into those bustling streets and I walk straight into the pub.
I don't have a hood or anything but I shouldn't draw attention to myself by being mysterious. Jeon's table has other people on it and the absurdity of my plan hits me. What if today of all days they decide to not sit here. What if the topic never turns to anything about the [Switch Build] shard. How long is it going to be before they come back?
It's too late to back off now. I take a deep breath and sit on a table adjacent to it. This will have to do. I order a glass of beer and wait for the waitress to bring it for me.
She places a glass in front of me and I realize this is the first time, I've even been anywhere close to beer.

I focus on the task at hand and slip out the Stone Quill. It was in my sleeve. I use it to draw the enchantment on the bench beside me. Fail. I try again it failed.
I decide to do it again but this time between my legs. Fail. I try five times and on the sixth, it works. There's a glow but I cover it up with my legs.
I don't want to drink the alcohol but its too suspicious to leave it here. I just tap a guy on the shoulder and say, "Do you want this?"
He looks at me for a second and starts laughing. He's more than happy to take it off my hands.
I get up and walk out of the pub. Its working. I walk away but the din of the pub is streaming into my ears. I go around the back and decide to wait.
In all my haste I forgot to find out one thing. When these guys come here. They're regulars but at what time.
I sit there for forty minutes. The enchantment cuts out after thirty so, I have to go back and do it again. This time I do it on the bench where Jeon uses. The other people left.
After all that time, these guys come in and my ears train themselves. "Bro, this is affecting my viewership and all that. I can't just stop uploading."
"What are stressing abut? I told you I would pay you right?"
"No, no. I know. You're paying me more than enough, its just if I keep this up, it'll just be harder to get back on. You know how hard it is to grow a viewership."
"Ok, ok. Just stick me for a little longer. I know the summoner's here. There's nowhere else for him to go."
"How can you be so sure though? What if he left already?"
"No he didn't. If anybody wants to get their hands on it, then this is the spot. That summoner has the pendulum. There's nowhere else for him to turn. If we can't find him the old-fashioned way then there's another way."
"Hm?"
"Let's put a bounty on him."
"Excuse me guys..." This is a third voice butting in, I don't think they're with them. "I think somebody is listening in on you right now."

Lucrio Law, the young heir of Tosa, doesn’t care about graves or tombs. In fact, he doesn’t care about much besides drinking, gambling, and womanizing. Author's Note: - This story will contain litrpg elements like Titles, Skills, and Levels. - MC will not become instantly powerful. I plan for a slower grind with a focus on the characters themselves rather than their abilities. - This is my first attempt at a litrpg story, so please leave any comments/suggestions you have!

[2/6/20 : Major rewrites and restrucuring for Chapters 1-4]Framed for the murder of his landlady, sixteen year old Arahn Keys has been sentenced to death. A last minute reprieve comes in the form of the slightly mad cartographer Calan’dal, who hires him and four other death row inmates as bodyguards for his dangerous expedition into the bowls of a labyrinthine dungeon known as the Descarrian Abyss. Should they succeed in helping the deranged elf reach his goal, the legendary Heart of the Abyss, Arahn and his fellow criminals will be free to go. Alongside his new elven master Arahn is joined by Morvar: a half-troll brute, Cathran: a young herbalist’s apprentice who professes her innocence, and Evan and Lem: a pair of thieving goblin twins. Together they descend into the Abyss, knowing they will have to work together or else perish in the bowels of the dark labyrinth, becoming victims of the deadly traps and ferocious creature’s legend to reside within. [This is an early draft. Looking for feedback on characters/story as I work on my ideas.]
8 167Resistance is Futile
Resistance is Futile 2336 G-L32 is my title. I go G’ell though, pronounce it how you like, it doesn’t matter. I was born, like the rest of the human race this era, with my abilities. I can manipulate the world around me, using the Strand to do it, looks like the old telekinesis “superpowers” the old humans used to entertain themselves with. As of only recently, within the last 20 years, the Ul’Katoin ripped open space to take our planets. However, they didn’t expect our resistance. They are stronger than us, faster, and far, far more adaptable and enduring. Humanity however, can use technology. Wherever they lay their roots, we burn them away with plasma and radiation. But where we lay down our foundations in their world, they snuff out our light with their vines and tendrils. And with The Jhar Empyrean and other space-faring empires keeping their borders tight, we have nowhere else to expand to. Humanity finds a way, and our soldiers will bring the fury of a Nebulean storm upon the Hellscape the Ul’Katoin call home. And I am one of those soldiers.
