《MONSTER MMORPG : MAYHEM ONLINE》Chapter 006. Assassin's Cloak

Whew!
I came back to Azler town as soon as I felt a threat of revealing my legendary class.
I didn't want anyone else to find out about my class, not until I was strong enough to shit on the faces of top players and guilds. Otherwise, I would be inviting my own doom or would be forced to join a guild.
Walking around in the city, I first decided to buy some new clothes and a side weapon so I don't stand out every time because of Eclipse.
Currently, I only had beginner clothes which weren't exactly the fashion statement.
As I walked into the market area, I noticed a signboard.
[Cyeven's Miscellaneous Item Store]
An item store was a store that dealt with various types of items. Players can do both selling and purchasing here.
I entered the store without a second thought, and a good-looking boy came out. He looked around 16-17 years old, and the yellow text above his head notified him that he was an NPC.
"Welcome, customer. How may I assist you today?"
Looking at the young boy reminded me of myself. I had been working since I was a teenager because of family problems, and all the studies that I did were the ones that were freely available on the internet, without any proper degree.
Although it came with a plus point that I was a master of many things, I had no degrees to back up my own qualifications.
To ensure my younger brother studied well, I had to work at a young age, not wanting him to be like me.
Unconsciously, I ended up dozing around for a minute.
"Umm… Mister..?"
The young boy politely asked as I finally noticed the dog-like ears on his head. My eyes darted towards his back, and sure enough, there was a brown-coloured furry tail wagging behind his back.
"Ah, are you a leonin? What's your name? And how old are you?"
I asked, although it was none of my business. Thankfully, the little guy replied happily.
"I am called Loqa. And no, mister, Loqa is a kobold and human half breed, not a Leonin. Loqa is six years old!"
Ah, so that's why.
I finally remembered that although the kingdom of Crisedia was a human-ruled country, it still had many other races, albeit with a low population.
A kobold is fully grown-up when it's eight years old. Because of the nature of their race, they tend to grow faster than humans, but that also makes their natural lifespans much lesser than humans, unless they were practitioners of magic or any other kind of energy.
"I am called Shura. It's very nice to meet you, Loqa."
"Loqa is happy to meet you too!"
I said, and Loqa replied cheerfully. I didn't want to waste any more time, so I came straight to the point.

"How much gold can you give for the Great Bee's Poison?"
Lola's eyes shined as soon as he heard that.
"Are you an adventurer, mister? Where is your party?"
"No, I don't have a party. I work solo."
I replied while shaking my head.
"So did you beat the Great Queen Bee on your own? Mister is so powerful!!"
Loqa asked in amazement.
"Yeah yeah. Can you tell me how much it will sell for?"
I asked, getting a bit impatient.
"Ahem, well. A bottle of Great Queen Bee's poison is usually sold at 40 golds. Since you're such a nice customer, I'll add an extra two gold per bottle."
The little Loqa said as he rubbed his small hands like a shrewd merchant.
Right at that moment, I searched up the marketplace and auction of the game. It was a server-wide shop where players bought and sold items, skill books, and types of equipment. Checking the price of Great Queen Bee's poison, I found out what the little shopkeeper said was indeed true. Most of these bottles were on sale for 39 to 40 golds.
"Okay, I'll take you up on that deal. Here, I have ten bottles of Great Bee Queen's poison."
I brought out the ten bottles of poison and lined them up above the reception desk.
"OHH, ten bottles. Good, good, very good. An alchemist of the Sahhan empire was on a lookout for these poisons."
Loqa said as he leaned nearer to me and whispered.
"Apparently, the daughter of Duke Wenselm has been bitten by a very poisonous monster, and the alchemist was tasked with making the antidote. So he is buying out all the potent poisons on the market that can help make the antidote. Not to mention, he's paying an extra fee on each bottle."
Loqa clicked his tongue as he finished his sentence, realising that he had slipped out the details of his profit.
I couldn't help but chuckle at his antics. Seeing a young kid like him acting like a shrewd and shady merchant was a sight to behold.
"Don't worry, I don't have so much time as to go and sell the poison to that alchemist personally just for a bit more money."
After that, I received 420 gold coins from Loqa for the ten poison bottles.
I even asked Loqa for the price of Great Queen Bee's crown, but he said he could only give 100 gold for that when it was worth around 180 golds for the players.
It was logical when thinking that the NPCs don't have much use for items like the Great Queen Bee's crown, which increased charisma and wisdom.
But for players, even a slight increase in stat was worth a lot, so they were willing to pay more than the NPCs.

There were always such situations, where sometimes a player would buy an item for an astronomical figure while the NPCs would treat it as trash and vice versa. Sometimes, some items give no additional stat or any kind of benefit, but they can be linked to an important quest, which would give out ginormous rewards when it's completed.

I bought these three items to not look like an ultra noob, at least. The great thing was that all these items had a navy blue and black color scheme, matching perfectly with each other. The cloak even came with a cool hood, which gave the vibe of a professional assassin.
I always wanted to try a big hood on my head and disappear from the world. This game world finally gave me that chance. T^T
All the three items cost me 200 golds with the supposed 'discount' by the young and generous shopkeeper Loqa.
"Until next time."
I said as I departed from Loqa's shop. I had already put the Great Queen Bee's crown on auction, and surprisingly, two people had already bid on it, with the higher bid being around 150 gold.
I had kept the bidding for 24 hours of in-game time, so it should fetch some more money as long as some people need it.
Another unique thing about this game's world and the real world was that time's flow was four times slower here, meaning 24 hours in the real world was 96 hours in the game world!
Not to mention, this only gave more time to people. One of the many reasons many people had made this game as their career was also related to this.
Walking out of the town, I could see that the sun was slowly setting, and the sky had turned orange. When I logged into the game, it was already afternoon time, and since the night was approaching, many people started coming back into the town.
It was a common sight in the game. During the nighttime, only the thrill-seekers would go out. Most of the gamers would either celebrate their day's achievements in an inn or log out to take a rest till the daytime approached. Since it was Sunday, I had a lot of time on my hand and could afford to live here for three days at least.
I entered an Inn and paid two gold for a night's stay. It even came with one meal!
I finally felt a bit rich after going through the days of poverty in both the game and real life.
The game was so amazing that even enjoying otherworldly food was an option, and that's why some old people played the game just so they could taste the delicacies that even the real world can't offer without worrying about their sugar level.
Mayhem was called the heaven of sorts for a reason.
Before walking to my room, I saw an NPC sulking and drinking outrageous amounts of alcohol continuously.
"Stay positive, brother. Life has a lot to offer, positivity is the key."
I walked out after saying that, feeling relaxed on the inside that I had helped a poor soul, free of cost at that.
As I entered the wooden room, I was pretty content with the bed.
It was made of wood and had a fluffy cushion on it, making my back go wow as soon as I laid down on it.
It was a fantastic feeling!
Laying down, I brought out the news feed of the game.
It was always lively, with players around the globe writing about their experiences and talking about interesting game events in the forum.
One of such conversations piqued my interest as it was something I had recently heard of.
[I_don't_dance: Have you guys heard about the famous quest these days? The one related to the daughter of the Duke of Wenselm from the Sahhan Empire. Apparently, the princess couldn't be cured even after some of the top alchemists from the leaderboard tried to make an antidote for her.
What_does_this_button_do: Yeah, I've heard about it. I heard that the quest reward has increased because of the continuous failure, and so has the penalty.
Guess_who: I heard that one of the rewards is getting married to the daughter of Duke Wenselm. Isn't she the only daughter? Marrying an NPC of her status would bring enormous rewards to just about any player. It would turn somebody rich overnight!]
'Rich overnight'
'Rich overnight'
'Rich overnight'
From all these comments, I could only focus on these two words.
Gulp!
I…? Is there a way to cure this princess?
