《Tales of the Path to Godhood》Chapter 0031 Drawing in the Card Lottery (2)

"Can Bai Mei touch another one?" Bai Mei asked shyly and reached for another golden card.
'That's my lottery! Don't touch it!' I slapped her hand away which was about to grab another golden card from the air.
"Ah! How dare you hit Bai Mei?" she cried out in a trembling voice while tears welled up in her eyes.
I knew that she just acted and pretended to be cute and innocent. But I'm sure she isn't. She already touched one of my lottery cards; she won't touch another one!
I reached for the next golden card and grabbed it without hesitation this time. I pulled it out from the air and held it in front of me.
The golden shimmer on the card changed and iterated every category-color. It was truly a spectacular show of colors.
And then the rate at which the colors changed gradually began to slow down. My gaze fixed on the color of the card; I hoped for it to be yellow again.
Slowly, the color changed to orange and creeped into yellow with grey stains. Then the circle emerged.
'Yes! Armor! A skill related to armor!' I was overjoyed from seeing the yellow and grey color and watched the circle changing colors now. It was now time for the grade of the card. As long as it isn't black, anything would be perfect.
And it became… green!
'Yes! Something good!' I couldn't hide my excitement in the least and a big smile blossomed onto my face.
Now, it was the picture's turn. Rapidly, the images in the green circle changed between various images of animals and some other images, which I couldn't see clearly.
And it slowly halted at… at… a whale!
'A whale?' I wondered and tried to imagine what a whale-armor would look like. But nothing came to my mind. Whales are big, but that's it. They don't have a hard shell or skin. Their skin may be tougher than other animals, but it's not one of the strongest.

"Can I have it? Can I have it? Can I have it?" Bai Mei clutched my clothes and begged me. Her eyes were big and glassy, gazing full of hope at me.
She tugged my clothes and kept asking me in a sweet voice, "Can Bai Mei have it? Please, please, please~~. You already got the last one. I want this one! It looks so cute~!"
My heart felt heavy, and I knitted my brows before I shook my head.
"You meanie! Unfair! You take everything for yourself! Wahhhh~" she cried and plummeted onto her butt, crying on the floor.
*sighhhhh~*
After a deep sigh, I made up my mind. The card was only green after all; so, I could buy it later on in the market. It wouldn't be like I lost something great. A green card isn't that expensive after all. After killing a few monsters, I would have the money again.
I set up a weak smile and poked her with the card.
Bai Mei turned her gaze at me and looked deeply into my eyes. She wiped her tears away and blankly stared at me.
And before I could do anything, her hand shot like a tempest towards the card and snatched it from my grasp. Instantly, as soon as she had the card in her hand, she shattered it.
A green light flashed from the card and it disappeared.
Bai Mei stood up with her hands on her hips and smirked at me. A mocking giggle came from her, and she said, "Another victory for Bai Mei! Hahaha!"
'What?! You played me?!' My smile was replaced by a grim look. Wrinkles spread over my forehead and my eyebrows shot downward.
But Bai Mei didn't look at my angry face at all. She summoned the illusory gene of light before her and a whale emblem appeared beside it.

Already knowing what she has to do, she dragged the emblem into the gene and both disappeared into thin air.
Suddenly, the tiger cub, Zhenli, near Bai Mei's feet began to grow rapidly. It grew from the size of a cat, to a dog, to a deer, all the way to the size of the grizzly from earlier. It was around 3 meters tall and longer than 10 meters. It was truly huge.
'The whale gene is for growth?!' I was surprised. But whales were the fastest growing animal after all. So, remembering that, it wasn't that surprising anymore.
'If I had used that card, wouldn't I be able to become a giant?' I asked myself and shuddered from that thought. I liked my size after all.
Bai Mei and I both raised our heads slightly to look up at the tigers face. It shot it head left and right, looking around and checking the surroundings. It looked rather disoriented.
"Zhenli!" Bai Mei shouted and waved her hand with a big smile on her lips.
The big tiger lowered its head and stared at Bai Mei. It gave a low growl, which was really deep sounding and let the ground slightly vibrate.
"It's me, Zhenlie! It's me - Bai Mei!" she shouted and stepped nearer to it.
Zhenli lowered its head even further and touched Bai Mei with its snout, shoving her a little bit back. It let out a deep breath, and wind gushed out from its nose, sending Bai Mei's clothes fluttering.
Having checked Bai Mei's smell, it closed its eyes and plummeted onto the ground, lying on its belly. The head rested on the ground and something which seemed like a smile formed on its mouth.
"Zhenli~~" she happily screamed and ran towards its shoulder. She pressed her face tightly against its cozy fur and rubbed against it. Her hands moved up and down and stroked it.
'At least she's happy…' I thought and smiled at the both of them.
Because I wanted to pet it too, I stepped towards it.
A rumbling snarl came from Zhenli, and it bared its fangs. The tiger's hairs stood up, making it seem even fluffier. However, it clearly didn't like me.
Bai Mei held her hand before her mouth and suppressed her laughter to a giggle. "Zhenli doesn't like you. Hahaha."
'Hey! At least show some gratitude that I gave you the card!' I scoffed and turned around, stepping back to my last lottery card.
