《Tales of the Path to Godhood》Chapter 0027 A Fight of Terror and Horror (2)

The Iron Chained Blood Grizzly heavily wheezed every time it lunged forward. The sheer weight of its massive body left the ground trembling under its paws.
Savagely, the saliva dripped from its ugly fangs into the air. Its chains rattled and clanked at every motion it took, deepening the horror in my heart.
But I had nothing to fear!
With my next step, I put all my strength into my foot and leaped far into the air. The spear arched behind me, ready to be thrusted forward.
The hideous grizzly pounced up towards me. It shot its mouth wide open, baring its fangs which dripped with saliva. The yellow teeth came rushing at my neck, and its claws thrusted towards my body.
Swiftly, I rotated my spear, pointing the spear-shoe at its incoming paw. With all my might, I rammed the dull spear-shoe into the monster's paw, thrusting myself with the backlash higher into the air.
The Iron Chained Blood Grizzly's mouth rushed past my feet, missing me by a hair's length. Now being high in the air and above my opponent, I had the advantage.
Without losing this opportunity, I activated my spear's skill "Heaven's Strike". The emerald-green clouds shimmered on the black shaft, and the white horsetail whisk flew weightless up.
A deep rumble echoed through the hall. The ceiling vibrated and cracks spread through the stone. Debris came flying down at us, sizzling by me and storming at the massive body of the grizzly.
The slithering iron chains on its body smashed every piece of debris apart. Not even one hit connected on its body.
I screamed in my mind, 'What's the use of lightning when it can't enter a building?!'
Suddenly, I felt gravity pulling me down again. The grizzly was still beneath me, savagely staring at me.

Its chains rattled, and it pounced upwards with its fangs directed at me. Its maw was wide open, letting me see down its throat.
It was pitch-black and as deep as the abyss. Spit sprayed out from its mouth as it gave a rumbling bellow.
With doom drawing nearer and nearer, I activated my newly gained skill: "Nine Sun Chasers".
A football-sized orb of blazing fire flared up next to me. Its flames raged and sent a massive heat at my body. I could feel as the air around me turned hotter.
The grizzly's maw was now directly in front of me, letting me feel its breath. Its ugly fangs moved over my being, enshrouding me in its mouth. The Iron Chained Blood Grizzly only needed to close its mouth and swallow me whole.
Instantly, with a slight motion of my finger, I sent the orb of fire towards the grizzly's maw. The orb thrusted against its cheek and pounded the beast's maw aside.
The Iron Chained Blood Grizzly's mouth surge by me, but the danger wasn't gone. The iron chains on its body seemed to come to life. They slithered through the air and thrusted themselves at me.
I slightly bended my body and the chains sizzled by me. My hands clutched onto one of the chains and pulled, thrusting myself towards the grizzly's body.
My arm bent back; the spear arced behind my back. Under a noiseless scream, I thrusted the spear at its chain-covered body.
The clanking and clanging of iron hitting iron boomed through the air. My spear drilled through its thicket of iron chains and bored into its flesh.
The grizzly howled in pain. It shook the air and left my armor trembling.
Blood gushed out from its wound and dripped down from the chains. After pulling out the spear, its tip was covered in thick, red blood, flowing down the blade.

I pushed my feet against the Iron Chained Blood Grizzly and used the force to jump away from it. The wind whistled by my ears and I prepared for my landing. Feeling ground under my feet again, I slithered backwards until the force from the jump decreased.
Proudly, I stood and stared at the Iron Chained Blood Grizzly falling down onto all fours again. The tremor left the ground shaking and some remaining of debris fell from the ceiling.
Through my mind, I controlled the orb of fire and let it protect me from the debris.
With clarity returning to my mind, I remembered my trump card in my sleeve: the grenade. My best chance would be to shove it down its throat. That would be a sure kill.
I focused my sight back onto the grizzly. It lowered its body and was getting ready to pounce forward – but it didn't.
Some of its iron chains flared up and turned fire-red. The blazing chains rampaged through the surroundings, tearing the floor apart and whipping at the air.
'Is that its magic skill?' I wondered and sprinted towards it with the spear behind my back.
Even though the Iron Chained Blood Grizzly was in a position ready to pounce at me, it remained still. A deep snarl, rumbling from its stomach echoed through the hall.
It was hungry –hungry for me.
Baring its teeth and bellowing at me, it pounced forward. Drool dripped into the air again and spit flew towards me.
Its red glowing chains whipped towards me. I raised my spear and turned them off-course, letting them hit the ground beside me.
I reflected one after another while we came nearer and nearer. The clanking of metal sounded out continuously, filling the hall with it.
The constant contact of blazing hot iron onto the tip of my spear evaporated the grizzly's blood which was on it.
The stench assaulted my nostrils and I had to control my gag-reflex and stay focused on the fight. Each mishap would be fatal.
While I swallow heavily, I reflected another incoming chain. The spearhead glided along the chains, sending sparks flying.
Suddenly, a gut-wrecking pain pounded at my hip. I could hear the cracking and popping of my bones. Blood-curdling pain struck through my nerves and left me shrieking nearly noiseless in pain.
Something liquid wanted to escape from my mouth. The taste of iron let me know that it wasn't puke from the stench. It was blood!
I gnashed my teeth and was shot to the side. Wind whistled by my ears and I smashed into the wall. Another surge of pain assaulted my other side this time; yet I couldn't hear the breaking of bones.
Weakly, I glided down from the destroyed wall and fell into its debris. My vision turned fuzzy and slightly red. My hands lifted my body slightly up; enough for me to steal a glimpse of the onrushing Iron Chained Blood Grizzly.
It sprinted savagely towards me, ready to devour me. Its chains lifted into the air and readied themselves to pounce at me. Saliva drooled over its ugly fangs and dripped down from its mouth.
With each time it lunged forward, I could feel doom drawing nearer.

Grey Worlds
A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.
