《The Lost Characters [Vanilla Dark Fantasy]》084

The director was not very interested in the results of the first two squares, but he did look carefully at the last three squares. He paused for a while and sat more comfortably. It seemed that these three black squares were the most important to him. His old hands trembled and scratched at the third square, but another 0 appeared on the card.
Tears fell from the director's eyes as he pleaded:
—Please! I do not have much time left! Give me something useful!
With trembling hands and tears falling on the card, he scratched the next black square and another 0 appeared.
—Nooo! Please do not do this to me! — The director shouted, rolling on the floor while he cried as if one of his children had been killed.
Adam felt pretty bad for the director. He understood how the card worked, and it seemed that only one full square was not worth having worked for so many years. But he didn't know how to comfort him, he was young, and he had a life ahead of him, so he didn't understand the director's desperation right now.
—Adam, you can scratch the last number for me—Cesar said with a broken voice in tears, it seemed that he could no longer continue with this disappointment of life.
But to Adam's surprise, the principal stood up again and determinedly looked into the student's eyes, saying:
—If it's more than 5 I think I could do it again: I can't give up, I'm never going to give up! You have to get more than 5, boy!
With trembling hands, the director handed the button to Adam and said:
—This button will give you fortune, they were from my father's white robes. You have to make it, Adam! I am already old and I can feel that everything is about to end soon. But today you gave me the last push I needed to continue living. As long as you get more than 5 I will look for some way to keep fighting and I am sure that next time I will not fail.

Adam took the button and his hands were shaking violently. The spirit of never giving up even in the worst of all possible outcomes infected him as well.
Struggling to keep the button from falling out of his hands, Adam sat down on the floor and began scratching at the last black square.
Old Cesar put his hand on Adam's shoulder as if trying to convey his luck. The other hand raised it to the sky as if seeking to gather the energy of the world and a determined look appeared on his face, while he concentrated on the number that was about to appear.
Adam feeling the energy of the moment, he scratched the scratch card that would decide the director's fate with the button, but an oval curve appeared in the middle, making Adam stop and making him even more nervous, because of this curvature he could only get: a 9 , an 8 or a terrible 0.
—Don't hesitate, Adam: you'll get 9!—Cesar shouted with all his lungs, putting both hands on Adam's shoulders and closing his eyes—Today is the day, boy! 9 comes out today! I can feel it!!
'9,9,9,9' Adam repeated like a madman in his head, as sweat poured from his forehead and fell on the floor around the card, completely infected by the atmosphere created by the director.
Boldly covering the result with one hand, Adam tore up the card. After finishing scratching, he jerked his hand up.
—Give me a NINEEEEEEEEEEE!!!—The director shouted at the top of his lungs, raising his hands to the sky and looking desperately at the card.
Both the director and Adam brought their heads close to almost kissing the card and looked at the result in disbelief, it wasn't a 0, and it wasn't a 9. It was an 8!

—We made it manager! We got an 8!—Adam shouted happily, looking at his stunned director staring at the card.
Cesar's eyes turned completely cold when he saw the result, he didn't celebrate and took the card in silence. His hands weren't shaking. His face did not seem to have any emotion, with a very calm voice he said:
—There is no 8 on these cards, Adam.
Saying those words, the old director ran towards one of the walls of the school. When he was about to arrive, he didn't stop but sped up and violently kicked one of the wooden corners of the school violently.
A board fell to the ground from the kick and bounced on the ground as it transformed into a wooden skateboard, but it had no wheels and seemed to fly in the air, so it must have been a magical ability.
The director looked at the flying skateboard, turned around, looked at Adam still dazed on the ground and calmly said:
—Good luck in these shitty times, boy. Trust me, you will need it.
The wooden skateboard spun in the air and transformed into a metal skateboard. Cesar jumped on top of the wood and shouted loudly:
—Cover your ears, boy!!
Without waiting for Adam. The headmaster bolted out the school gate, heading for hex 4. His red robes ripped completely apart, and it seemed like his old skin was ripping from the speed he took.
*WSHH* Adam rolled on the floor and collided with the wooden wall from the shock generated sound of the impulse. The holes in his face were bleeding, he only heard a ringing in his ears and struggled not to pass out on the ground.
The red-haired young man looked up with the last of his strength left in his body and saw the director speeding faster and faster down the main corridor of Hexagon 4.
The people who were trying to flee from the main corridor by the maniac that he only speeded up were being completely pulverized like blood bubbles as the director advanced.
A trail of fire erupted from behind the director's skateboard, setting the main hallway of the hexagon on fire. The shelves in the main hallway were on fire, and all the shelves in hex 4 came out to attack the director.
Attacks rained down on the director who was advancing faster and faster towards the hex 0 gap and the director either dodged them or let them hit his body, causing parts of him to fly all over the corridors. But that didn't seem to bother him, and he only accelerated towards 00008: heading to infinity!
Adam fell to the ground, trying to fight the pain in his body, but it seemed that the vast majority of his body had broken in the impact with the wall.
The young man had gone deaf so he only heard a ringing in his ears getting louder as he watched in disbelief as hexagon 4 went up in flames on all sides and the chaos of flame engulfed librarians running through the halls.
Slowly, Adam's eyes closed watching this crazy scene, and he passed out on the floor of the school hallway, not understanding how the situation became so unreal.

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
