Adam was even more annoyed, he didn't know that it was an infected floor, but the name of the area sounded horrible.
—How did you get the book anyway? I notice your bloody robes, but you're still a hero.
—That's what I wanted to talk to you about—Adam said, following the instructions of his godfather, he exaggerated his story to make it sound as if he was a true hero who had just defeated a dragon and not some poor boy who peed in a room while being kidnapped by a bookshelf.
The eyeless old man listened carefully, especially to the part about the magical books, in that part he stopped Adam and commented:
—First, the old man on the other shelf didn't give you a magical book, the shelves can't take the magical books from the librarians or from the creatures in such a simple way, in general there are quite complicated conditions to fulfill, for example living in my magic cave
—Is this cave magical?—Adam interrupted, he lived in this cave for a long time, and it never seemed very special to him.
—There is infinite food and that water heals wounds and washes clothes—answered the old man proudly—which is why it is magical. But as he told you, the important thing is that you don't owe anyone a magic book. The book belonged to the Actorino. He died, and now it's yours, until you use it, and it's gone.
—Couldn't they save it? What if he does?—Adam asked, looking at his black book.
—It's okay, but it only has one use, it's useless—the eyeless old man replied with a lot of annoyance and anger, almost shouting the words—and since it's useless, it's useless to try to get my contacts, the other shelf was just trying to trick me.

—But now you have one that does last forever—Adam said, remembering the effects of this cave.
—How innocent you are, boy—answered the eyeless old man with much contempt—He doesn't know that I have this cave. And therefore, that magical book does not exist! We'll trade one more magic book, but you'd better help me find some booklets downstairs, or they might really kill you.
—But didn't you know some little bears?—Adam asked with a lot of doubt, he didn't like the idea of exploring the lunatic floor.
—You're crazy, brat!—The eyeless old man shouted, almost leaving Adam deaf.—The bears helped me to be who I am today, they are worth more than your life and that of all the librarians on this floor! You will look for other booklets that I do not know and that seem reliable!
Adam nodded fearfully; he never saw the old man so upset, he pulled the godfather out of him and asked him about the plan.
His godfather answered: 'And you get it?... He also asks to be able to read the book as a condition, better still, ask for a book of use for your help as an intermediary. The eyeless old man will get two more books, and he will owe you a very big favor'
Adam nodded, and his godfather continued writing: 'Don't mention it to the old eyeless man until they give it to you, then it will be a surprise; everyone likes surprises. Don't talk to him about his booklets, no bookshelf likes to talk about it'
The conversation lasted a bit longer and Adam noticed that it seemed his godfather was excited about him finding a role in the war, so Adam thought he must be good.
—How do I find free booklets, without shelves using them?—Adam asked.

—It's not easy, but the war makes it easier—said the eyeless old man cautiously, he didn't want to reveal too much about it—it's not that they don't have bookshelves, but if they're bored by doing nothing, the important thing is to convince them.
—And how do I do it?—Adam asked, he didn't like the idea of having to wander through those halls full of lunatics looking for something so small for so long.
—Depends on what he asks, you're just an intermediary—answered the eyeless old man—just bring me the offers. I made the final decision. Believe me, good booklets are very greedy and expensive. But if the old man on the 4th floor has what to pay for it, he won't see a problem finding them.
