《Risky Sailing》Chapter Twenty Three: Jack Pot

Gelgar was able to get into contact with some from the Hellvine family, but was unable to discover any information on a disbanded family member with Two Soul-Beasts. It seamed only the weak were Disbanded most of the time someone of that caliber would never have been kicked out if the family so easily. The closest thing he could find was the incident of a Six year old who had bonded with a Ship in a bottle of all things. It fit Gabriel's story perfectly, even the name. But the Boy had only had one Soul beast, and was a fear channeler. This didn't mean Gabriel was lying however, there were some Family stories that were kept secret for various reasons. And sometimes those outcast were sworn to never reveal why they were kicked out to others. Gabriel could be fabricating his story to seam like the weak six year old the Hellvine family had kicked out earlier even changing his name to fit, because revealing the true reason for his Disbandment would harm his family's reputation or Reveal something that could risk his life if his family discovered he’d let it slip. It would explain why he hadn't gone back to his family, and perhaps why he was so powerful. Gelgar wouldn't give up, but he had a feeling that whatever the reason was for it, Gabe was the only way to get answers. The Hellvines would likely not like him investigating into the affair much further so he’d tread carefully about it.

Rumors that Gabriel Hellvine had appeared spread throughout the Hellvine family. Some of whom had actually witnessed the fight in the Farming city. Many in the family believed that some nobody was simply using their name, but Gabe's Father, Henry was not so convinced. He had never felt right after his son was Disbanded, he'd been certain they had killed him when they left him alone so young. Against family policy he had gone looking for Gabe more than once but the boy was not where they had left him in a small farming city outside their territory, most assumed this meant he was likely dead. But if this news was true... Henry had to make sure himself. He collected everything he needed and Teleported along with one of his Family's Acolytes to the Farming city his son had been seen in. After months of searching however he would discover that the Channeler in the Contest had disappeared. No'one knew where he was. Or who he was. Combined with the fact the boy had shown Two soul-beasts that were powerful and useful left a great big question mark in Henry's head they had never abandoned such talent in all of Hellvine’s history. The other boy who claimed to be an outcast from the hellvine family was also missing he somehow escaped the authorities who held him for cheating and had not been seen since.

Henry came home depressed, his family also feeling his sadness. The banishment of their son at such a young age had been a Prominent Family disagreement for the past ten years. It had divided the family. Many believed the boy got what he deserved because he was weak, others were vocal about how young he'd been. Henry had never believed he did enough at the time of the event. First he'd done nothing about his son's condition, it was obvious Gabriel was being controlled by his own soul-beast. Fear was one of the cruel elements. Only outdone by poison. But Henry had ignored the problem feeling shame every time he looked at his son because of Gabe’s wasted talent. When he'd stood by and watched the counsel throw the boy out of the family for what his soul beast made him do, Henry had actually believed it would relive some of his shame. With the outcast gone he could move on with his life and pretend it never happened. But his wife, his children, his parents, and even his young grandson never got over it. After ten years of the awkward day to day in which the subject of Gabe never seamed far from anyone’s mind, and the facade that everything was okay whole underneath no’one was happy. He couldn't help but feel as though he had failed. And he hated failure. After coming back empty handed from the farming City he felt it even deeper then before. And the rumors about his son were bringing back unwanted memories for those closest to Gabe. the loss was too soon and too… undeserving. A child with the same last name as them had just been thrown to the wind. What did the last name Hellvine mean then if they were so quick to turn on their young. What good was a family that couldn’t stand for each other. All of the wounds from ten years ago were being freshly reopened. And while most of the family just talked about Gabe, it was those Close to Henry who actually felt the words and mourned.

Through his absolute best tricks, and his Slightly over the top smile, Gabe managed to convince Seygo to teach him Some of her Skills with the blade. He considered this his greatest accompaniment in life so far. As it meant that they met every week inside the training room in the Greenwood manor and spared with blades. She was better then him, so far so that even with his extreme speed it was difficult to keep up. Her moves were practiced and precise and deadly. With Grace and balance alone she could keep up with his speed. She pushed him hard as well, being an unforgiving instructor, and he loved every moment of it trying his best to impress her. He always felt his heart drop when the session ended and they parted way if only she knew how he felt about her.

In between his sparing with her he spent most of his time in Cultivation. Moving faster then he thought an Apprentice realm Channeler could ever possibly go. He was forced to hide his progress as it would be very concerning to those he lived with. It also meant he had to keep his speed steady when he fought with Seygo. Never pushing further then he usually did. His strength grew and his power increased with each Level he passed which were thankfully hidden by his Soul room. It seamed he was passing at least one Level a month, sometimes two. Which was impossible, but with Eleven soul-beasts ten of which were advanced with the pill he had eaten. And the pure energy from the surrounding treasure land he was jumping rank quickly. After eight months of living with the family, finding a happiness and peace here he'd almost never felt before. And even though he still trained hard, it felt like he was on a vacation.

He Had learned much about the Greenwood family from talking with Seygo while they sparred. It seamed that the Greenwood family had been in a war a few years ago. With the Golden-Chaos family over a Heavenly Pure treasure land. The war had actually killed many of those living in this house. Seygo's father and uncles, two of her older brothers and her grand father, Her mother and Matthew's Grandparents were all gone from this world. The war had finally been settled by an Agreement to share the Treasure land because the loses on both sides were becoming too much. and before long both families would have brought in their allies and a much larger war would be started, one that would leave everyone with a net loss. The Greenwood family had been recovering ever Since. This house more so then most because they had lost most of their direct family to a single brutal ambush that only Vernon and Gelgar had made it out of alive. Since than Gelgar had been looking for a way to get his revenge, and was very dissatisfied when the Greenwood family settled. When the war was over Matthew and Seygo had left their discipleship at the Leagues they were with to mourn with their family. They were expected to go back this year, but planned to wait until next year since the loss was still so fresh. Seygo was very emotional during her talks about this, but refused to cry, only putting her anger and sadness into the strength of each of her blows and Gabe listened carefully, fighting back with his speed and letting her get a few quick hits in from time to time, having nothing else but silence to give her.

He'd also spent some time with the Young ones of the house and a few of the cousins that were older then him. They played and sung and cut up in the way he would expect children to act instead of the stiff stern dedication usual of this family, and they seamed to like him. The two guests that had visited the first Family dinner turned out to be High elders of the Greenwood family who had come to talk to him and watch him. It seamed his turn down of their offer was unbelievable to them. They were apparently hounding Gelgar about his Stay here and his talent and also about Gabe’s beasts purple stripes and unnatural strength. At least that's what Gabe heard from Matthew. Matthew was scarce most of the time, spending his time Cultivating and training in a locked Training room away from Gabe. He was deadly focused and It inspired Gabe even more if that was possible. He pushed himself just as hard. His long years of mental anguish fighting his fear made Training seam pleasurable in comparison. He would train his moves until every bit of his strength left him and his body shook or fell down. He pushed and pushed for hours, only stopping when he reached his ever increasing limit. When he stopped he would go directly into meditation, right where he fell. Because he didn't have the strength to walk up the stairs. This kind of training was dangerous if pushed to far and if he had a master Gabe would be told to rest, but he was gaining so much ground everyday he felt too excited to take a break.

It was after one of these training sessions that had lasted a day and a half of non stop Moves and sword training while no’one was there that he was Cultivating while letting his body restore it’s strength. Eight months, eight mouths was all it took and he was already a level ten Apprentice channeler. His mark and signature only said he was level Two though, to keep suspicion down. His beasts Poured power into him like a river. And Finally the dam broke. A flood of energy surged through his soul and his Soul core and Soul Tattoo lit up bright white. His eyes went wide and he grinned like a maniac. He couldn't believe he'd done this in less then a year. At eighteen years old! Only Eighteen he'd passed the Apprentice Realm of power and reached the champion Realm. He felt euphoria as the power flow settled in his veins and soul. and he looked at his beasts who were all giving off waves of power. All of them had grown. And their strength had increased ten fold. some Conformed into more powerful Versions of themselves, though fortunately not his Death Boar or Nexus wasp. He wouldn't be able to explain that to the Greenwood family when he summoned them. He was ecstatic though when the Giant he had, Conformed. it's low blood making it much easier to grow. It turned into an Evil Grinning Tetra Giant. With red eyes and new fangs growing out of it's mouth. Gabe turned quickly to Sisfar when he felt something wrong, the ship In the bottle was shaking with great chaos and a deep rattling sound came from inside it. The Ship on the inside of the bottle was growing as well, but the bottle wasn't. Gabe's eyes widened at the sight as Sisfar's sails turned almost completely translucent and when they touched the glass of the Bottle it exploded with a loud Boom!!! Glass shards went everywhere and the smell of sulfur and wood entered the air as the ship continued to grow without it’s container. Soon the glass shards which were everywhere disappeared mysteriously and all that was left was The ship at it’s full grown size. Sisfar was huge now, about the size of a house boat. He floated and hovered on the Deep purple could underneath him looking even more haunted then before. And his strength was Increased dramatically now his power was at least equal to the death boar Gabe had. Gabe let out a long breath, well he hadn't expected that. "Sisfar what's happened to you?" He asked. Sisfar let out a chuckle. "I... I don't know. but I feel some of my old power coming back! You need to make another one of those pills kid!" Sisfar sounded incredulous. Gabe nodded dumbfounded. Then he looked at the runes that had appeared near the others on his forearm. He smiled as he read these were always the best part of breaking through realm. You never knew what your traut were going to be. The first few were more strength and bodily toughness Traits, these were more powerful then the last since he had increased a real. And all of his traits would gain power as he gained power so his last ones were still of great help. Meaning he would always be ahead with so many strength traits on his soul. So many traits all together now that it more than trip the number a deity realm channeler would have. There was a very powerful Speed trait from his Nexus wasp. This one would more then double the last Two speed traits he got together. Then there was a trait from his Death boar That increased his healing rate again, and allowed him to channel pure spirit energy into his health. meaning if he meditated he could heal even faster. This was actually a fairly powerful trait and when combined with his other healing trait would keep him from harm if ever he got injured or even poisoned. Then there was the trait from his Giant. Giant's had very fickle Traits. Some Channelers with them could get nothing but strength traits or Toughness traits. Other more fortunate channelers got specialty traits that could really help their fighting in some specialized way. Others wound up with Weak traits like a growth trait that allowed them to grow a few inches, or an innate ability that kept down their body odder. Still giants were prized Beasts because having one long enough would allow their Fighting prowess to rub off on you some what. Which allowed you to master martial moves and arts much faster and helped you understand the way of weapons and tools instantly where others would take years to understand. Most blacksmiths, and swordsmen had some form of a Giant as their soul beast.

Gabe was Twice as fortunate as anyone else in this random trait lottery and his giant gave him a rare ability called "Second burst". This trait was an innate ability that when he was tired he would be able to channel perfect spirit energy into his mussels and continue on. Much like his healing trait this ability was powerful indeed and would be made even more powerful by the fact he had over ten soul bests to produce perfect spirit energy for him. It wouldn't last forever though, it depended on just how much spirit energy he could produce, but it would also start to cause damage to his body if he used it too long. This would allow him to train for at least twice as long as he could before. And not only that but if he ever got into a battle of attrition he could continue well past his limit to save his life.

It was the final trait however that blew his mind away. Sisfar's trait just like last time was too much to be true. Flight. This trait allowed him to ride Sisfar as a Flying beast and fly. He looked up at Sisfar when he saw it and his jaw hung open like it had broken hinges. "What the hell Sisfar!" The ship looked at him bow first. "What? What did you get kid. With your luck I bet it's a Demon Immunity." Demon's had immunities to several different Elements, Fire, poison, Low temperature, they also had a high resistance to light. But these traits were so rare and impossible to acquire that only a half dozen people throughout Primeway's entire recorded history had ever gotten them. And even then only at the very pique of their Cultivation. Just before they ascended. These immunities strength could not be overstated. And though not every demon had every immunity, They were still the reason demon’s were surviving on primeway. it was just too dam hard to exterminate large hordes of the bastards when half of them were immune to two or more elements and didn’t even feel the moves you were using on them. "No, I'm not that lucky." Gabe said flatly. "Flight! I got Flight!" it really was the most unexpected trait of the whole batch.

Sisfar started laughing. And laughing. His dark gritty voice no longer sounding like it was in a bottle but still just as evil and creepy. He laughed for three minutes while Gabe went back over his Traits. "okay enough already! Sisfar." Gabe said when it started to get on his nerves. Sisfar stopped that very second. "You really are a nine tailed fox kid." The nine tailed fox was considered one of the luckiest signs in the world. And it was Believed even touching one would bring you good fortune for the rest of your life. But they were like ghosts, too powerful to be found or caught be just anyone. "You know what this means don't you! You can finally reach my mountain range! We can finally recover my riches!!!" Gabe paused for a moment. "But... is this a Demon trait? I've never heard of someone getting the flight Trait from a Demon." Sisfar paused a moment too. "Your correct, demons don't fly until Elder realm just like Channelers. It seams this ship has a few tricks of its own." Gabe felt very strange at those words. How could a ship Have traits... and what did that Pill do to it to make it give them to him.
