《The Gods' Decree》Chapter 99 - Grim Reaper

Soon she was right above Taf as purple blood splattered all over the wrecked ground below. When Taf looked, he too became covered in the blood gushing from her wounds. She was an inch away from his body, so much so that he could smell the stench of burnt blood.
" Come help this beast traverse this minor hurdle."
Marceline laughed as she saw the lightening bearing down on Taf. He winced in pain but before he could be struck...
☆ Elemental Art( Darkness) Quintessence of the shadows☆
He disappeared and the area he had vanished from was now scorched black.
" That was the first one and easiest 'rat'. Do you think you can hide? Do you think my blood splattering on you was a coincidence?
Every molecule within this body is subject to the tribulation. So let's just say, even if I am not close to you the lighting will still see you as apart of me.
You have dodged the first attack and though I will not surmount this tribulation, I will ensure we face the remaining two strikes."
She laughed while she spoke as blood gushed from her mouth and parts of her body were scorched to appoint that they basically became unrecognizable.
While the beast laughed Taf then appeared in an open area a small distance away from where the lightning had finally struck.
Puck!!!!
He spat out a mouthful of blood as he looked on the spot he had fled.
" That was too close for comfort...
Sigh.., before I thought all I had to was avoid her attacks and attempts in drawing me within the tribulation. Turns out I was a bit naive in this regards.
Who would have known she would try something so despicable? Even if I had plan counters previously for the battle, would I have dreamt this would be an outcome?"
Taf could only shake his head but everything had already occurred and all he could now do was try and protect his feeble life from the onslaught.

While he thought within his mind, the clouds once again built up to unleash their onslaught. The rumbles caused the ground to shake twice as hard. He didn't let that affect his thinking as suddenly a daring idea crossed his mind.
" ... I guess that's possible but for me to even attempt that I will have to survive the second round of onslaught and my qi is basically non-existent.
After using that last darkness art I am now limited to earth and light as my defense. Since it is as such I choose earth.."
Taf went through everything as he tried to weather the storm he now found himself in.
" Scheme all you want 'rat'. Who do you think you are fooling, all can see you are a spent force?"
Marceline taunted as she readied herself for the second round of attacks.
Taf once more ignored the madden spider. Who would be the more insane? The one madden or the idiot arguing with this said person?
BOOOM!!!!!!
Everything within a thousand meters was turned to ash as the lighting was no longer golden but white in nature. All around felt the tirade it brought forth as only two beings could be seen within it all. It had split in two separate parts with one aiming for Marceline and the other Taf.
" The heavens are just, the heavens are pure. Let my body now be the tool transformed to show the signs of your true majesty"
The now crazed Marceline cried out as all but two legs were now complete scorched and bare by the lighting.
Seeing what he was about to face Taf cried out.....
☆ Elemental Art ⬜ Earth⬜ Embodiment of the lands☆
He then became encased within a large hill that formed around him. How could lightning formed from the heavens will be resisted by mere dirt?
The small hill crumbled under the onslaught that had taken place. The lightning was totally overbearing in its tirade and it sought to turn everything to ash.

Luckily for Taf after a few minutes of being unrelenting, the blitz had ended. Inside he sighed for relief but knew the most dangerous part was now on its way.
Seeing the result Marceline was actually shock he had actually survived all the tirade so far. For the first time, she became a bit sobered from her madness.
" It matter not, if I am going to be a corpse so will you 'rat'."
She once more regained her madden state as the clouds once more formed. The earth within the small region shuck as though at present a 9.7 magnitude earthquake was underway.
BOOOOM!!!!
The once white lightning had now transformed into pitch black. Within her crazed state Marceline took one last look at the beasts with scorn. She then eyed Taf and laughed.
" Fuck you and your benefactor. Your life is now mine 'rat'."
Then looked below in anticipation of seeing Taf in total anguish but as he crumbled the last piece of earth around him, he was completely calm.
" Its a pity i won't be able to here you anguished cries for your mom cub. There is relief though in knowing after my death you will follow suit. To die at the hands of the heavens is an honor."
She stated as her madden state had now calmed somewhat and she awaited her death.
" Who told you the heavens has a claim to what I deem mine? Your life was marked for my taking and you guessed it i'm a man of my word."
Marceline was caught off-guard by the words and was about to mock but before she could she was silenced by what happens next. As a matter of fact, all present were.
Taf looked down before eying the heaven tribulation clouds, then he used the earth to launch himself within the darkened skies.
" What is he doing, ha...has he also gone insane?"
It is not known who asked the question first, but all were left speechless by his action.
May remained silent while gripping her hands as she had an idea of what he was planning.
" Remember..., hand in hand..."
She spoke something the others found quite odd...
" ....As we gaze into the stars and space"
A response was heard in her ear...
Taf was now launched into the incoming path of black lighting...
☆ Demon Inherent Art - Devour☆
As it was about to scorch him to bits he took the time to lift his right hand.
☆ Absorption☆
When Marceline thought that Taf's demise was a certainty, she saw all the black lightning suddenly disappear. All below had once more been found lost for words...
How many surprises could they have in one day.....
Where had the overbearing black lightning gone? One moment it was bearing down on the Mouse, the next 'puff' gone.
As they lamented on the situation, Taf was grimacing in pain as his veins felt as if they were being baked...
" I can't hold on for long"
He thought before eying the spider below...
" Hey..., call me reaper, as now I am the harbinger of your very soul"
When Marceline heard the words for the first time when facing this youth a chill went through her body. She watched as he lifted his left hand.....
☆ Expulsion☆
⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
BOOOOOOOOM
The last thing she saw was the same black vicious lighting that had disappeared...
" NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
