《The Gods' Decree》Chapter 98 - Pride and Fall

Above Brave Man's Graveyard, thunderous sounds could be heard coming from the skies. it now heralded the grandness of the heavens with its display. What deluge awaited those that dared to defy the heavens below?

The clouds became so dark that they made tar in comparison seem nothing more than its pale destitute cousin. There was some contrast in its opaque nature, however, as deafening flashes of light could be seen within its body.

" She actually dared to summon her tribulation in this state? How could she possibly think she has the means to ascend into the realm of lords after all that had previously occurred during the battle?"

Tensho stated as he too became a bit lost for words as to what was currently occurring. Of all the beings presently bearing witness, there would be none more familiar to what those clouds brought forth with them than him.

He has failed to conquer these same clouds that played the part of the heavens divine will on two previous occasions.

Tensho then looked at Marceline that madly laughed as she saw the mayhem that had been summoned. At that moment he knew what she had planned.

" When pride catapults you into uncharted skies of conceit, only after that pride is lost would you have noticed there was indeed a need for a safety net for your undeniable plummeting fall."

There was a sigh from Tensho as he saw the state to which Marceline had fallen. This once awed demon beast would rather die than admit her defeat to someone of a lower level. To someone else, this might be seen as simple stupidity but there were those beasts who would see it as the noblest of acts.

"May, descend from the skies by taking refuge where Tensho and the others are located, this I feel is where you would be safest. "

Taf became serious as he saw and felt the change in atmosphere. The person he thought about first was May, so he tried to get her as quickly as possible away to safety.

" Taf things have gotten out of hand, don't you think we should get the help of Draconian Alestar? After all, this has surpassed the realms of what this trial was to encompass."

May then responded as she commanded hammerhead to descend to where the beast had been gathered.

" I am sure he is aware of what is currently taking place and would have intervened if he thought it was getting out of hand. For now, I am guessing he feels I can handle this unforeseen circumstance."

he replied as he tried to calm himself somewhat as the clouds rumbles began to intensify when they neared.

The ground slightly trembled as small wind tornados could be seen forming around him which caused his already ripped clothing to shred even more.

There was a part of him that was terrified but he took a long breath before then exhaling.

" Just ensure you don't die or I'll never forgive you in this life or the next."

A worried May finally arrived at the gathering place of the beasts. As she descended, Taf then gave a look to Tensho who nodded after seeing his gaze.

" I wouldn't dare arrive at the gates of death knowing only coldness awaits me, when in life there is your warmth that greets me.

If the heavens try to sever me from this divine bliss, then there is no longer a need for it to be deemed as such. I will plunge it, thus it becomes hell and I would be the devil after I roam through."

Hearing Taf words, May could only smile as the only person she knew that would say such bold words during a situation such as this was him.

" Just be safe brute....."

" You say you will be able to help them traverse their tribulation. Well here you go, let them see the grandeur that is Sir Mouse"

A wicked laugh was heard by Marceline the spider as she eyed the Mouse whose hammers drags on the ground that was crushed to powder.

" So this is the means by which you will seek to kill me? Using the heavens as your dagger ?"

Taf stated coldly as he looked at Marceline who had plunged into madness. He then assessed the skies once more which caused the ground to shake with its unbridled might.

" Yes, take it as me embracing my cowardly nature"

Marceline madly laughed as she eyed the Mouse who stood with a cold gaze on his face.

" I am not sure if you know what the lord realm tribulation entails 'rat', so how about I give you a small briefing.

Simply pass the three bouts of lightning and don't end up a roasted dried out 'rat'. "

Like a true psychopath with masochist tendencies, the giant spider wielded its webs then launching itself into the skies.

" I've always gazed in the skies to see if I could get just a glimpse of the heavens grandeur. To surmount the insurmountable has always been my dream.

Now you the heavens will is right before this spiders eyes. Your majesty sure does not disappoint, but even if this is the last time that my blood feels warm as it course through my veins. I will face you head on and fulfill this dream"

Taf could only look into the skies as he readied himself for what is to come...

" The heaven will huh?"

As much as Taf was terrified at what was to occur, there was a part of him that boiled with anticipation. What anarchy might he bear witness to and how would he counter with the abilities at his disposal?

These thoughts plagued his mind as the skies trembled while carrying the will of the heavens.

Soon a golden light flashed from the clouds deafening all that heard it for a second.

Boooom!!!!!!

The golden lightning struck the gigantic black spider full on. Its now limited qi was unleashed to give its body some refuge from the heavenly onslaught.

It madly laughed as it saw Taf below where it dived into his path.

"Like I'm some idiot who would stand still, Dream on if you think I would let you have your way...."

He then stated as he ran from the path of the spider that was shrouded in blinding golden lightning. It's exoskeleton saw cracks forming as it bellowed in agony while the smell of burnt husk filled the air.

Its eyes, however, was fixed on the youth below with a head full of dreads and two hammers in hand.

" Die rat!!!!!"

Swish! Swish!

She shot some acid webs in order to impede the fleeing youth whose speed seemed to double after he then discarded his hammers. Taf weaved in and out through the forest as the trees above him were scorched to grey ash.

He made sure to flee in the opposite direction from May and the others in order not to get them involved.

Swish!

Seeing her attempts coming to naught some normal web were launch within the trees which she used as a slingshot which also doubled her speed while chasing.

Soon she was right above Taf as purple blood splattered all over the wrecked ground below. When Taf looked he too became covered in the blood that was gushing from her wounds. She was an inch away from his body, so much so that he could smell the stench of burnt blood.

" Come help this beast to traverse this minor hurdle."
