《The Gods' Decree》Chapter 79 - Twinkling Stars

"Let's see you at work...."
Taf spoke after the crimson core was firmly within his grasp. He then took some time putting his mind at ease. After what seemed like five minutes, he then shouted internally:
☆Cultivation Art - Hungry wolf☆
Soon red demon/ beast qi flooded within to his dantian. It was quite peculiar this instance as the qi itself felt heavier and with far more substance.
His blood felt heated and joyful as though it had finally received the nutrients it so desperately desired.
As he observed his dantian the quantity of beast qi within seemed to have drastically increased.
" Hmmm.., it does seem quite effective huh. With a few more beast core such as this, I'll be able to reach the 7th stage of qi condensation in no time"
" I wonder if it's possible with the 12 wolf beast cores?"
Taf sat contemplating the results of his cultivation as the crimson core went dull.
" Well what's the point of questions when the answer is right before me right"
Soon twelve gold beast cores were summoned before him. There was one that was slightly larger than the other.
" Oh, my pal flying wolf. I don't expect as much as that big fella but hopefully, you won't disappoint me"
He spoke as all the qi within the gold beast core was devoured after a period of time.
" Not bad at all, still a way off but with the other eleven and a bit more. I'm guessing I'll be able to attempt a breakthrough soon"
As his observation continued he slightly analysed his stride made so far.
" Since that's the case then let me have my fill"
One after the other the gold cores lost their lustre become dull looking orbs that within a few minutes shattered into bits. Soon there was none left of the previous twelve.
" This definitely is by far faster. I wonder how far in my cultivation I'll arrive at the end of this trial"
As Taf seemingly was looking forward to progressing, a petite figure could be seen walking in his direction.

" How was it...?"
She questioned as Taf still sat in his cultivation stance.
" Better than I expected to be honest. I think I'll gorge myself with beast qi while I'm here."
He replied with a smile as his eyes caught sight of May.
" Planning on getting a bit fat are we....? Who told you that this lady wanted a porkie...?"
May teased as she laid a thick cloth on the ground before having a seat.
" Sigh all this time I thought you were with me for my gold. Who knew it was my looks that were the culprit."
Taf uttered as two plates with sumptuous food that they had previously prepared were summoned on his lap.
" The thought had come across this lady's mind. However, your pockets are always empty thus I went for the second best thing"
Her tongue was poked out as Taf handed her a plate he had seemingly warmed with his hands.
" Owww..... below the belt with that one huh..."
Taf grinned as they both parts took of their meals.
" I learn from the best. Hope you haven't forgotten our plans tonight...."
May spokes as she took her time utilizing her utensils neatly separating her food.
" It's a date..."
Taf then replied as a smile took form on May's face.

The sun had now worn out its welcome and was ushered out by a moon that seeming glowed with unmitigated luminous splendour.
How could the stars be outdone? They now lit the skies that were now darkened, providing quite a contrast with the red clouds that hovered below.
The night though was beautiful saw the temperatures having completely plummeted to nearly freezing marks. Demon Beast howls, roars, squeaks Etc providing the sounds of the night.
Within the gargantuan tree previously used for surveillance was a transparent abode that blended with the elements around.
There it was firmly attached to a limb that's width and girth held it comfortably in its place.
This was, of course, one of the space stone that had been transformed for the couples living convenience.

Before they arrived in Brave Man's Graveyard they had tactically decided against having their abode on the ground.
Why was that you wonder?
They had both analysed the behavioural habit of the demon beasts and found that most were nocturnal creatures. Seeing as the night was the time to see the most activity.
It was safest not to be on the ground but within the trees. Thus their decision to have their abode in this gargantuan tree.
Inside the abode, it gave off the appearance of being quite spacious and luxurious. Though not as grand as Draconian Alester's, it was indeed welcoming.
On the floor of the abode were pieces of furniture that would be deemed comfortable for one's relaxation habit. laying side by side were May and Taf. Both their attention was on the roof of the abode that was transparent from the inside.
Above they saw the stars in all their splendour twinkling away.
" Taf, why do the stars twinkle as they do? They say its twinkle is due to the various changes that occur as its light enters our atmosphere.
However.. , I try to believe that it has more significance than just some scientific theory. In my mind, it's a code which they are sending to us lower beings."
May spoke of her insights while she was comfortably wrapped up within a blanket. After her words were spoken it seemed to have caught the curiosity of Taf.
" Really and what code are they sending?"
Taf asked as he stared across to May before his gaze returned to the stars.
"It's a mantra that when deciphered will bring forth a multitude of divine benefits. A few I think are the secrets of life itself. What's its intended purpose and meaning.
I guess it's my longing to decipher this very question within my mind. What is the meaning of life?"
Silence took over the abode after the words were spoken by May.
" What's the meaning of life huh. I myself have thought and asked about this very question. It seems however that I've become more lost the deeper I seek to unravel.
As my view becomes more enlarged that the impossible becomes possible, it brings forth a barrage of questions.
Within our world are Gods and devils, beings that with a mere finger could end the lives of an infinite amount.
Is its purpose then to be in servitude of those beings or is it then to set them as a target to be surpassed?"
Taf spoke as the topic drifted to picking at each other's thoughts.
" Maybe it's not so much about being in servitude or passing one's limit but the smaller things. Maybe life's true purpose is to find true love. A soul that compliments yours in total unison.
It could also be about the creating of bonds that even when these bodies decay and wilt away. The bond still remains to be everlasting.
Those twinkling of the star might be those very bonds lighting up the nights sky.
So why do they twinkle in your view Taf?"
The question was once again posed by May who seems totally engrossed in their conversation.
" My theory varies somewhat actually. The life of a star is said to be counted in billions. Therefore they have seen an infinite cycle of life and death.
Thus I think the twinkle highlights their pity as they view us lesser beings whose life span to say negligible would be a compliment in comparison.
They pity our longing for power that has come to nought. Our attempts at love that have been unfulfilled. The unending wars that within aeons would have no meaning whatsoever.
The stars are bearing witness to our every feat. Maybe there are those twinkles that showcase some joy when there is a success.
However, I think it's simply a pity for us lesser beings."
Taf went on to say as they delved deeper within the topic. Soon their conversation arrived at different topics as the night went on.
After a few hours of conversation, May saw her eyes closing while Taf began his watch for the night.

However, on the night of his first full moon, as a baby he disappeared from his cot. His parents, after much frantic searching, found the babe crying in a small clearing of trees, a large feline creature pacing defensively around him, the bloodied corpse of a fox resting at its feet. As the parents approached, the beast transformed into a small owl and flew around the clearing before perching on a low branch of a tree nearby. From this moment on Garion's fate had been decided. Only those with magical blood could be capable of calling out to such a being as this. As Garion grew older, the transforming creature remained by his side.
