《The Gods' Decree》Chapter 58 - Bearer of gifts

A blinding light took the stage as the stars twinkled off, bidding their adieu to a dark sky in which they once illustrated their majesty. It was the rising Sun that seemingly carried so much meaning for those below.

Two figures could be seen making their way through the streets, as it too just like the sun desired the life that it missed through the night.

It was a young man with dreads that seemed to be oblivious of all around him but the girl to his side.

She wore a yellow dress that sought to take all the splendour that the previous rising Sun had showcased.

" Aren't we a bit late Taf?"

May asked after recalling the conversation that they had with the cultivators in their previous encounter.

" Well they did say dawn, so as far as I can tell based on those words we are earlier than expected"

A reply was heard from Taf who still seemed a bit sleepy as he yawned.

" You just had to oversleep didn't you, you brute"

Seeing him stretching as if he was in his bed at home May could not help but say.

" If a working man doesn't get the necessary rest. How then can he be functional for the day"

" So I took an extra hour of sleep. I'm sure our cultivator friends will understand."

Hearing her words Taf tried to come up with a plausible explanation for his tardiness. To his side, May could only give him a knowing look.

Soon they made their way to the city square where a few figures and a magnificent white hawk waited.

The figures made up a sum of seven individuals. In the group, there were the lucky two who had have been blessed with dantians Baldie Damian and Lisa Paldon.

Lisa's face showed excitement as she saw the hawk and its grandeur portrayed as it flopped one of it humous wings in annoyance of an insect bite.

Baldie Damian, however, was a contradiction as he seemed to be fearful of his own shadow. When looking at the hawk he was petrified.

" Aah...question Can we mortals actually fly on such a thing."

" Sh...shouldn't we be given some sort of guideline..."

" Did I mention I'm afraid of heights."

" I don't see any safety equipment attached, that does seem like a safety hazard doesnt....if you don't mind me saying"

He muttered on as he saw the five cultivators quietly waiting while doing various acts.

" Actually I do mind you saying. Will you pipe down baldie and actually give the illusion you have some balls. Even the little lass beside you is not as whiney as yourself.

The fiery-haired Malgrey uttered after seemingly finally having his ears full of the cowardly Damian.

" Where the hell are they?"

" We have been waiting for an hour and there are still no signs of them arriving on any street"

Frustration gushed forth from Lovren as his impatience showed.

" I'm sure that they are on their way. After all, it's only been an hour and we do have an arrangement."

The messy haired luke interjected after hearing the outcry of Lovren. While they spoke Nisha had been Continuously wielding the big broad sword that seemed a mismatch as her apparent small hands held on its huge handle.

" Do you ever give it a break?"

" You do know there are other things than training. How about you find yourself a little companion?"

As the broad sword swang, Malgrey's voice was heard in Nisha's ears.

" The one I seek doesn't want to acknowledge my existence. Therefore i will force him to look in my eyes and see if he dares to return my gaze at the next sect tournament"

Margrey could only sigh after the reply was uttered. He knew who she spoke of, a youth that the Sect deems as blessed with exceptional talent, Jason the prodigy.

He was the one that all the girls in the sect fawned over on a daily basis. In all of the qi condensation realm members of the sect, he is one in the top 10. Currently, he is at the peak of the qi condensation realm and has the potential of a breakthrough soon.

" Hehe.., always acting tough only to be hiding underneath a little girl with a huge crush, how sweet. Who knew a pretty boy would catch your fancy"

Lovren who seemingly had finally found the means to tease this vice-captain of his jumped at the chance.

" Maybe i should stop practising my sword in the wind and use you as a more lifelike apparatus Lovren. "

" Will my sword slice through you like the wind, I wonder"

Oddly the smile still remained on Lovren' s face as he eyed the vice team leader who warned with a swing of the blade that brought forth wind.

" Your threats don't scare me this time"

He stated but then didn't bother to bring up the matter anymore.

" Niesha I understand your feeling but sometimes we have to let certain things go in order to move forward in life. I worry about you every time you bring up this fellow Jason."

" The time you are now wasting is the time you could be creating a bond with someone else of worth. Will you not be satisfied until You have knocked him down so he can finally stare up in your face in recognition"

A shake of the head was seen by Malgrey as he tried to provide A bit of guidance.

" You more than anyone knows my reasons Malgrey....."

A look of fury, as well as sadness, could be seen in her eyes as she uttered the words. It seemed to have brought forth a huge bout of strength from her broad sword that startled even the hawk nearby.

" Sigh...yes I know"

Margrey responded with a bit of pity in his voice after seeing the slight emotion in Nisha's voice and sword.

The other three members of the group showed a curious gaze as they eyed the others for an answer. This has always been a mystery of the group, the past connection between Jason and Niesha.

When asked neither Malgrey nor Nisha would give any details.

...

Soon they saw two figures approaching in the distance with unhurried steps.

" My cultivator friends this Mouse should apologize for his tardiness"

Taf and May smiled as they viewed the five cultivators and two newbies.

" I said to May yesterday that we should get some gift for our friends on our way this morning. Due to the streets not being too safe at night and you know how this Mouse worries for his safety"

" Only to discover to both of our surprises the streets were empty and not a sole could be seen."

Taf wore a pitiful look as he seemed to recall his past experience.

" There..there.Why are you so hard on yourself. You melted this girl's heart with your sweetness and thoughtfulness."

"Imagine we walked all the streets in search of the perfect gift for over an hour only to come back with nothing but our empty hands. "

" I think it's the thought that counts, right Taf.

May also seemed to share the same thought as the youth, so she comforted him to the side.

" Yes..yes. I think it's the thought that should count. In fact, our tardiness could somewhat be blamed on our friends before us. After all, these feet of ours did do much walking on their account"

" There should be some form of remuneration but let us make bygones be bygones "

" " So my friends though the gifts might not be in our hands, well we bring our thoughts"

Hearing the couple the five became lost for words. Were these too aware of their shamefulness? They knew the Mouse was this way but this girl to his side was no better.
