《The Gods' Decree》Pledges and Oaths

Quiet filled the densely populated area as the voice was heard. A girl was seen with a blue ribbon in her long black hair.
A look of indifference marred what would be a beautiful face if she were to smile. Yet still, it added an alluring quality that many men mind you, might find appealing.
" I'm sure most of you have heard some of the testing processes from the previous generation that took this assessment. I, however, will repeat for those who did not have such privileges"
" It Is quite simple and contains two steps that will have our results within the hour. Passing the first, basically guarantees that you will be granted access to The Dark Abylis Sect."
" However if you fail, as soon as you regain consciousness you are to leave immediately. "
Murmurs were heard as Nisha addressed the curious teens before.
" Wait.., does that mean we might pass out for this test"
" Could we possibly die?"
A bald youth was shocked as he heard Nisha's words and quickly asked someone beside him, due to his lack of previous knowledge.
" Idiot..., would this square be filled to the brim if there was a chance of dying?."
" How many parents or loved ones would allow their descendants to take such a test if it was filled with such risk?"
" Do you know the odds of passing. Less than 1% chance."
" I'm walking over to that side. Please do not follow as I am not certain as of yet if your stupidity is contagious or not"
The girl who was asked the question replied with annoyance at the fellow while moving away to another spot. Others beside shook their heads as they heard his question.
" It is a test that contains no risk, so feel at ease that you are safe"

Nisha went on as she listened to the slight murmurs.
" Cultivation is not often a path that is chosen but given. My meaning is really quite simple if you think about it. "
"Each cultivator varies in many ways and hardly can you find a cultivator that is a replica of the other perfectly, unless special circumstances. "
"There is one thing though that all cultivators have in common, however, and that is each and everyone has to have a dantian."
" Why is it that everyone has to have a dantian that cultivates ?"
" It is needed for one to store and refine world qi as well as other purposes that are not essential to this test"
Nisha taught the curious teens who looked on in awe as she spoke.
" What is the World qi?"
" It is the sustenance that brings forth life, it is all around you. Even though it is around you, it be can't sensed or accessed without a dantian"
"Therefore world qi and dantian work in perfect unison. One provides subsistence while the other refines it for use"
" That is where the line is drawn between a mortal and a cultivator."
" A mortal has the world qi around them but does not have the tool, a dantian to refine it and access it"
" While a cultivator is able to have the world qi and utilize it. That's what it means to cultivate"
Silence once again filled the square as persons could be seen checking their bodies and tensing up as if pooping in order to sense what was described as world qi.
Seeing this Nisha seemed to have lightened up a bit and chuckled.
" Hehe, to refine the world qi in a dantian special breathing exercises are needed"

The first test "Do you have a dantian"
The four other members of the team stood forward one by one.
There was the fiery-haired Malgrey who had a smile on his face as he walked forward. Lovren followed with seeming displeasure.
Then the greened haired luke who smiled and finally the blonde they called Cameron who seemed unperturbed by the proceedings.
" The test is simple, if you have a dantian you will remain conscious if you don't. Well, you know...."
Nisha chuckled once more as she saw the anxiety that took over the square.
" My team will release some of our already refined world qi within the square. If you have a dantian it would hungrily gobble it up. If you can't your body will faint in exhaustion"
While Niesha spoke May squeezed Taf's hand as they rested on the wall. She was anxious for a totally different reason from the rest. To the side, Taf pulled her close to allow her to rest her head on his shoulders.
" It will be alright, I promise"
He whispered in her ear gently as she squeezed as if not wanting to let go.
Wooooooossshhhhhhh!!!!!!!
The square became filled with blue cool light as it swished between all that could be seen. Bodies started to collapse as if their limbs were of no use.
On the stage, The fiery head team leader uttered under his breath...
" Interesting, that was unexpected"
The others had a similar reaction as they saw the results.
The blue light vanished after seemingly washing the square clean with its might.
To the side of the wall, a youth with a head of brown dreads could be seen with a girl in his arms.
" Why do I feel so hungry Taf?"
A voice came from the girl in his arms.
" I feel like I haven't eaten in weeks, but I had a big breakfast this morning"
She squeezed as she held on to the youth beside her.
" Taf?"
" Taf....?"
" Taf why aren't you replying...?"
A terrified voice was heard from May as she finally looked up to see the youth in her arms face.
His eyes remain closed as he rested against the walls.
Tears fell from her eyes as she held the youth tighter than she ever did before.
" If that world is one without you brute. Then it is a world not meant for my eyes to see either. I will live in this mortal world together with you. This is my pledge and oath."
She held him closely as tears fell from her now closed eyes.
" I see you finally spoke those sweet words you promised this morning."
A hand caressed her face .....
"Let's walk on this path together, and if there is a peak in this world. It will be but a valley as we stare into the stars and space. That is my pledge and oath to you"
Chills ran through May's body as she heard the voice that was seemingly angels Caroling in her ears.
" You brute, don't you ever scare me like that again"
Tears flowed as she looked on the face of the youth before her who had a warm smile.
A hand was placed on her face as his fingers drifted to the side of her teary eyes. The falling tears were caught by his awaiting fingers as he softly whispered.
" I'll only make you cry tears of joy. Sorry, I scared you".
