A calm prevailed over the skies at the crack of dawn as the sun showcased its bliss from behind the mountain tops.
The clouds glowed with golden might as the light cascade on the once darken lands below.Rays can now be seen as the sun grace the Earth for the first time.
A few miles from Marvel city a flock of birds chirped playfully while zigzagging all through the blue-lit sky. They numbered in the hundreds as they harmonious moved as if being of one body.
WOSH!!!!!
They dived in unison to avoid an incoming small hawk that had lunged at some members of the flock at the centre. It had however missed its pinpointed targets once more.
They flew mockingly close to the hawk only to avoid it at the last second as if playing a game.
This went on for minutes as the young hawk tried its best to fill its hungry stomach, but it was to no avail as the flock teased while they soared through the sky.
Rrrrrk!!!!!
A monstrous squeak was suddenly heard and the once mockingbirds for the first time were panic-stricken. A huge beak could be seen gobbling up dozens of the once playful birds with one bite.
Before them, a hawk white as snow could be seen that was gigantic in stature spanning dozens of meters wide.
" Not a bad snack huh girl"
On the back of the gigantic white hawk, five figures could be seen sitting in black garments with strips of red. A man with fiery red hair patted the hawk as it ate.
" I know it is our sworn duty but couldn't the sect select some other squad to take on this mission. Isn't this looking down on us?"
A black haired youth with a sabre on his back that looked no more than 18, blurted out in annoyance as he looked on the seeming never-ending skies.

"It is but a simple task Lovren, do you have to complain about everything? Enjoy nature's profound bliss as we journey through the land.
Another youth with green messy hair couldn't help but respond after hearing.
" Hmmm..., Of course, there would be no objection from you Luke. Isn't this the perfect means by which you can train".
The two started to go back on forth while the hawk flew until the red fiery haired man that had been quiet utter a few words.
" We have no say in what missions we are given, but seeing that you seem to be high strong Lovren. Why don't I recommend you for the next beast horde reinforcement team?"
Hearing the words Beast horde the once outspoken youth had a look of apparent dread as he thought.
" I just wanted a mission that utilizes our talents better team leader."
Lovren pleaded his case once more as he looked on the red fiery haired man.
" I agree with Lovren, and seeing he is as cowardly as they come. If he says that about a mission, you know for a fact it is lame"
" This has always been the scraping the barrel mission. No one ever wants it and those that get it are always ridiculed".
" Do you think a three-star team would be given this mission?"
A vain could be seen forming on Lovren's face as he heard a girl's voice, who had seemingly acknowledged his point only to burn his character to the ground along the way.
"Nisha you...B"
A teenage girl with dark brown hair that flowed to her shoulders could be seen sitting in an upright position. In her lap, a big broad sword was placed neatly.
She looked over to him with calm eyes and waited for him to finish his statement.

" Say what's on your mind and let me see if your body can pay the penance of your tongue"
Lovren held back his words and looked in the other directions having heard her threats. He knew far too well he was no match for her.
" Vice team leader Nisha having been promoted, I thought you would be more nurturing to your fellow teammates. Why scare poor Lovren like that hehe..,"
Laughter was heard from the fiery head team leader as he looked at the calm girl.
" You know better than anyone that the Dark Abylis Sect honours its debt. So what if the ones that are owed are none cultivators? The debt is still to be paid. "
" Furthermore, the process is simple and fast. We will be on our way back to the sect within a short time"
He tried reassuring not just the girl but all the other members of the team as he spoke.
"Let's hope we don't go back empty handed at the very least as I heard these trips are not usual fruitful"
" The odds are not that high for meeting anyone capable to cultivate and basically nil for any with the least bit of talent"
The last remaining member a youth with blonde hair who had a blue bow could not help but say.
" In any case let's finish this mission pronto so we can once more be given another. Maybe in the next one, we might find a more thrilling venture."
....
Outside old man Ming restaurant dust could be seen filling the air as a teen no more than 14 that had brown dreaded hair swept the nearby road.
" Why does the wind always seem to blow the dust at this damn entrance. So many buildings but this is the only one that has to be swept every second"
" I bet it's a curse placed by one of the many victims that old man has conned"
Taf laughed while he swept diligently. He then stopped suddenly when he saw a petite figure walking in his direction.
She wore a beautiful blue dressed that somehow showcased her innocent beauty even more. She stopped before Taf who had stopped sweeping and stared for a bit before utter a simple phrase.
" It's you isn't it?"

Bon Week-end
He runs the underground. She’s made it her playground. Their time together--the stuff of pulp fiction. When a corrupt corporate conspiracy threatens to tear them apart, they blast back with their offbeat brand of crime and chaos. This story is just one from the pulps. Film critic Roger Ebert once described them as ‘cheap, disposable entertainment that you could take to work with you, and roll up and stick in your back pocket.’ So do just that--and read it on the weekend. Bon Week-end is a novel written in the tradition of Jean-Patrick Manchette’s neo-polar, existing now as what shall be known as the neo-serial. This is Nippoten’s second serial following the superhero epic Entirely Presenting You. This novel will have a rather unique release schedule compared to others. To stay up to date, check out the main site and more specifically the chapters page.

Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.
