《The Gods' Decree》Chapter 35 : The birth of a City

How co...could you have devouring black dust in your possession"
The elder who had now come off his pedestal asked the youth before he became shrouded in enigma.
" Hehe.., all will be known in time. Seeing that you seemingly don't have that much, I'll make it a few minutes"
The Mouse winked as he looked at the now lost elder before him. It goes as follows:
During the time of the great war, there were a dozen mortal villages close to the Dark Abylis Sect. They had little interaction with these said villages and just as you stated, had seen them with much insignificance.
The young genius tried his utmost to solve the dilemma that had been folded him. Stumped for the answers he worked day and night.
One day a mortal servant had seen the young master in a state of exhaustion, as he wrote different equations on the walls to rectify the problems.
Seeing his master at work, the servant stood to the side in wait for his master to finish his process.
As he observed he suddenly saw the young master in a state of hysteria as he had seemingly reached his wit's end.
" What is the purpose of creating something that would only cause mutual destruction to both side?"
" Do we really need to sacrifice so many when we have lost even more of our sect members in the previous battles?"
" Doesn't this mean I have failed in my duties?"
The young genius Chung Fu slumped on the floor as he saw his failures all over the wall.
Observing the equations on the wall the servant had a sudden thought but had feared to speak his thought aloud in fear that it would mean his demise.
He finally made up his mind and had a moment of courage.

" Young master this lowly servant would like to point out a seeming flaw within your analysis"
A sheepish voice was heard as the servant's heart seemed to have been beating out his chest.
" Huh.., flaw? what flaw could your eyes discern that mine could not. Do you dare to make fun of me mortal?"
The young genius Chung Fu was about to explode in fury when he heard the words. He already had felt lower than dirt and this servant dares to rub salt in his wounds.
" This lowly one does not dare master, I just realized you left out a human factor"
The mortal had shaken his head in fear and responded promptly to his master.
" The only human factors are us and our enemies. What else is there?"
The young genius became a bit intrigued as he listens to his servant.
" Yes master you have taken into consideration all the human factors regarding cultivation, but what about us mortals?"
An even more curious look became evident as the young genius Chung Fu listened.
" Why would we consider mortals?"
He replied promptly as he had the feeling that he was at the crisps of the breakthrough in this quandary.
" The devouring black dust you created though ingenious, it is a double-edged sword when developed or used by a cultivator"
" You have been trying to rectify this problem by making it more suitable for use by cultivators. This you do through substitution of some of the main ingredients for the concoction.
" It has thus resulted in the failure of the product to live up to its full potential"
" Since cultivators cannot be involved in most of the production process as well as the battle . This, as you wrote, is due to their world qi being basically fuel to a flame"

" Though world qi is all around us, the Devouring Black Dust cannot refine it on its own. Thus the refined version that cultivator absorb is free for the taking"
" If so be the case the best solution would be us mortals as we have no world qi reserve. We are of some use after all master"
The young genius had a look of awe as he looked at his servant. This was the missing piece that he had search for. So simple, yet so very elusive.
He knew this fellow always seemed to find his experiments intriguing but he never knew he was actually so well versed in them.
" Su Chen, thank you for your advice"
The young genius Chung Fu humbly thanked his servant Su Chen first time since he became master.
" Master there is no need for such this"
Su Chen was so shocked but made sure to hurry to his master side as he saw him bowing.
" From now on you will be my consult on various experiments. I've been looking for someone"
Being so elated Su Chen forgot to breathe for a moment before nearly passing it.
" Who would have dreamt that the heavens could bestow such blessing on him"
...
The young genius then had a meeting with the sect head and council where they discuss his daring plan. It was met with objection at first, but as the plans were detailed it was then approved.
The mortals from the various villages were then paid in gold to work in factories that were built in quick succession by the cultivators. Their role was the production of the devouring black dust.
Others were trained in different battle formation and tactic by the generals of the sect.
The final battle took place month later and to the surprise of the Night Lit Moon Sect, they were no longer opposed by the army of the Dark Abylis Sect but mere mortals.
They had laughed and ridiculed just as you have.., only to meet their ultimate demise at the hand of mere mortals.
The swarm of Mortals had unleashed the devouring Black Dust. Just like the sea recovering it's lost land, the cries and screams were heard as the Night Lit Moon Sect members were flooded over.
The dust became a blob that swelled in size the more world qi it absorbed. While inside the enemy became zapped of any energy and thoughts to fight back.
Their agonizing seized when the kill words that were placed on the dust were uttered by Su Chen
"Ora stammer in cammino ed explode"
The words were installed as a means to prevent The Devouring Black Dust from continuing its destructive path.
....
A city was then built for us mortals from the nearby dozens of villages after the overwhelming triumph that was delivered.
A governor was chosen and it was none other than Su Chen. However, his name was requested to be changed to Marvel Chen by his master.
Marvel was chosen due to one thought by the young master Chung Fu. It was to show that even the ones that are seen as insignificant may amount to Marvelous achievements.
Thus Marvel City was born and built around those said factories before. The cultivators had agreed that the city was under their protection and would have certain benefits.
One of those said benefits was every 5th year they would recruit members with the potential to the Dark Abylis Sect.

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.

Oublivant
Oublivants: a category of dungeons characterised by the antithesis of life, necrosis. "Dungons as a whole tend towards the lethal side when it comes to exploring them; however, an oublivant actively seeks out destruction on a grand scale. No greater example of their deep hatred for life exists than the very first discovery of an oublivant. It was a massive dungeon spanning miles in all directions. It continuously expanded along the surface, so fast you could see it, and left nothing but a scorched, withered wasteland in its wake. Wherever the oublivant resides, nothing but the undead exist, as all living life has been eradicated. Why it is, exactly, the oublivant seem so against life so as to break the passive rule dungeons have is unknown. What is known, however, is that they're a threat that, upon discovery, is to be immediately eliminated." - Archomagus Addiom Onero, Court of VascilNote: This is my first story on royal road. It'd be nice if you were nice... nicely.

The Devil's Bride
"I am not sleepy so why don't we tell each other a story?" Her voice was low and raspy and fuck, I'd been lying if I say I wasn't turned the fuck on. "Like what?" I ask swallowing my pride and probably my sense of direction. Her skin was on top of mine, in contact, burning. "I don't know." She says taking her time to adjust herself on my lap. I had to grip the chair for support feeling all my breath vanish from my lungs. "Maybe a short bio about yourself." She advocates placing one of her hands on my chest. I feel the contact through my shirt, my eyes trained on every movement of hers. The worst of it all was that she is unaware of what she was doing to me. "Uh-" I feel my words shorten. On impulse, I grab her by her waist for support instead. Leaning back painfully on the single chair. "You're so cute when you're confused!" She giggles going ahead to move slightly on my lap. I blow out a groan feeling my erection harden.
