《Fire Dublin (A LitRPG Fantasi–Sci-Fi Adventure)》55. Just Two Devices

Since a few hours ago, Elisia had been waiting for Scott and Kafka's arrival. She was looking forward to the news of Kafka being accepted into the gang. A thumping feeling mixed with anxiety wrapped around Elisia's heart. Plus, planning won't continue until their two Runga comrades return home.
While waiting, Elisia had read a lot of material on [Hex Aegis], until she reached how to defeat the enemy with High DEF and HIGH RES. Elisia learned many tricks from the book, such as flanking, stomp, and smash. She also found several Attack Combos in this book.
“I wonder who wrote this book. Whoever that person is, may God always bless him and give forgiveness for his sins,” Elisia muttered.
Elisia put the book into the [Flame Pendulum], then strolled around their headquarters building. Many things caught her eye when they arrived at this building. Strange items were scattered about, including the strange cube they had been researching earlier. When passing through the window near the computer desk, there was an energy-like glow in it.
Elisia peeked through the window, but she could see only the light. There wasn't anything there. The strange object's light did not illuminate the room. However, she saw a logo from behind the darkness.
“Wait a minute, isn't that a logo...”
“My Liege, what are you doing there?” Ilya asked.
Elisia surprised. “Hah, Nothing! I just… taking a walk!”
“Your face is stuck to the glass. Are you curious about the contents of that room?” Ilya asked, who understood Elisia's behavior.
“Not really. I saw the light inside and I thought there was someone else besides us,” Elisia replied, making an excuse.
“Okay, but I suggest you don't go into that room. It is a special room. Ilya turned around and left. “Oh, if you want to enjoy the view, go up those stairs. We have a rooftop.”
Finally, a spacious place for leisure view. Elisia ran up the stairs until the spacious, dirty cement floor greeted her. Elisia approached the edge of the building. Only the sight of a large factory building caught his eye. Black smoke rose high across the blue sky.
“This place is not so comfortable,” Elisia muttered with a sigh.
As far as the eye could see, Elisia’s eyes only filled with many shabby buildings next to factory buildings. The longing for the quiet green meadow came to her head. Elisia looked at the surroundings full of black smoke and didn't do much else.
She remembered some of the Attack Combo moves she learned in [Hex Aegis], then took out [Fire Dublin Spear] from her inventory. Elisia made a pointing forward motion, and the stab began.
There was one movement called [Fire Whirlwind]. A circular motion with the spear as the blade and the user spinning like a whirlwind. Elisia wielded the spear with both hands with the blade pointed to the left. Then, she swung the spear to the right, then turned her body with her legs as the axis of rotation. Elisia spun like a whirlwind, but she became dizzy.
Elisia stopped the movement. Her eyes saw the world going round, and the way was irregular. As a result, Elisia was lying on the roof floor. Her face looked up at the swirling sky. She saw black smoke dancing around.
“Ouch, this is so dizzy! Maybe I should learn a twisting technique like that,” Elisia said, rather weakly.
The girl's head kept spinning until a silhouette approached her. Elisia couldn't recognize the silhouette, but felt that he wasn't a bad person. The silhouette helped her up and cleaned her clothes of black dust. Suddenly, his fingers pressed against Elisia’s temples and twirled them. The dizziness faded.

Her vision returned to normal. The silhouetted face came into view. Elisia was still silent because of the lingering dizziness.
“Risk?”
“Are you getting better? What were you doing earlier?” Risk asked rather flatly. There was an anxious tone of voice behind those words.
“Huh, what happened?” Elisia seemed to have lost her memory temporarily because of dizziness.
“You must be overusing your abilities again.” Risk stood up and walked to the stairs. “I will be back.”
Dizziness began to fade. Her mind had returned straight. Elisia felt guilty for having tried an ability beyond her limits, moreover she had never been around in circles like that before.
“I won't do that again unless I have taught it,” Elisia whispered.
Suddenly, her mind recalled her vision of a strange light in a room with a strange symbol. In past visions, Upgrade had shown her that logo. However, Elisia didn't really remember it.
Elisia shook her head to throw that Elisia didn't understand what she was thinking, but her suspicions had increased since coming here. There was something wrong. In fact, the [Flame Pendulum] continued to radiate heat. Only this was differ then before.
Risk came with a glass of water and some snacks. Elisia turned her head after hearing her footsteps on the stairs. The man gave the glass and Elisia drank it straight away. While Elisia was drinking, Risk saw a [Fire Dublin Spear] lying on the ground.
“Did you just train by yourself?” Risk asked.
Elisia shocked and stopped drinking. “Y-yes. I tried new movement in my book. My bad, I made a mistake.” Elisia smiled sweetly.
“You should have asked me for advice first if you wanted to try a movement.” Risk sighed. “Mistakes in training are normal, but they can be dangerous if you make a fatal mistake.”
“Yes. I'm sorry,” Elisia said.
“Hmph, you really are weird!” Risk unwrapped the snack. “A princess would normally show superiority in front of others, but you apologized to me. I wonder how your parents taught you.”
Elisia smiled shy. “That's because… I've been spending time with you guys. Of course, I've always lived in the luxury of a palace and been well served, but this isn't a kingdom. After all, I have a dream to circumnavigate the world. I want–” Risk gagged Elisia's mouth with [Cookie].
“You're starting to ramble. Now eat and rest for a bit!” Risk said.
Elisia lowered her eyebrows and growled with the [Cookie] still biting her. She took a bite of the cake and chewed it.
“Hm, it doesn't taste so bad. Where did you get this cake from?” Elisia asked, who had forgotten what had happened. In fact, the surrounding environment was very dirty.
“Didn't you check all the bags we brought? You'd think they were the little bombs Scott pointed out earlier,” Risk replied, “Since the environment here makes us difficult to get food and clean water, so we bring more supplies for the next few days.”
Elisia chewed the cookie again until it was gone. She saw the sky; yellow and orange adorned it. However, Elisia couldn’t see the sunset because the factory building blocked it. Risk stood beside Elisia, enjoying the same sky.
“Elisia, I mean Princess Elisia, did you ever suspect us of being strangers who are just like bandits?” Risk asked.
Elisia turned. “What are you talking about?”
“I paid close attention to Markman's words when breaking through the Tanin-Runga border. He was trying to get you to come with them and get home safely instead of following us. I thought what made your determination to follow us so strong, even though you don't know who we really are.”

It was quiet with the hot wind blowing from the factory. The sun sunk into the western horizon slowly, without wanting to wait for an answer from the princess. Elisia looked straight at the sun.
“Risk, ever since I was a child, I had a dream to see the wide world. I was always locked up in the palace, not allowed to come out unguarded. All because of a stupid, groundless tradition. I always look out the window; life in the city is very pleasant,” Elisia explained.
“So that's why you followed us?” Risk clarified.
“At first, I suspected you because you are foreigners. However, after feeling the warmth from you, I have considered you as family. I don't care what your background is, as long as we're always together. I am ready for all the risks I will face if I am with you and I will not blame you for anything.”
Risk pensive hearing that answer. A sweet word from a princess awakened him to something unusual.
“As I always tell you, you are strange from most princesses I have ever met. I mean, you are the unique princess in this world. Plus, you're a princess from the most influential kingdom in the world,” Risk praised, revealing everything.
“Is that true? I feel different.” Elisia blushed. “That's why I decided to follow you to the end. Even though this infection is painful, it's all gone thanks to your warmth.” Elisia grabbed Risk's right hand.
Risk could feel the warmth of Elisia's body, which had become a natural thing for him. He also felt something soft against her chest and thought that Elisia was old enough to understand her situation.
“Elisia, let's go inside!” Risk commanded.
Elisia looked up at the sky; the sun was hiding behind the factory building. The girl nodded slowly. She let go of the embrace and walked with this special ex-military man.
Arriving at the main hall, Kafka greeted them at a round table. Elisia immediately approached this big man. Her curiosity must be answered right now.
“Kafka, what about those gangsters?” Elisia asked.
Kafka walked over to Elisia with an even expression. He clenched both Elisia's arms. His body shivered. Elisia's eyes caught a faint smile from his lips.
“Your are right, My Liege! They still remember me and made a small party to welcome me earlier. I really so happy! Finally, our plan can be executed!” Kafka exclaimed happily.
“Really? I'm pleased to hear it.” Kafka shook Elisia's body.
“Yes, but the bad news is that a truck with code 599 will pass by tomorrow afternoon. Night time is actually not a good time to carry out missions, especially in a place like this,” Ilya said in response to the good news from Kafka.
“I don't think that's a problem, as long as we stick to the plans that have been made,” Scott replied, mediating the two stories.
“You don’t understand. Night is the time to strengthen the security level in the building. The guards would patrol each aisle more often. We will find it difficult to infiltrate,” Ilya explained, somewhat worried.
“Risk, should I tell you about our participation in Operation Overdrive?” Risk asked Scott.
“It won't affect, but we can use the operation plan to infiltrate the building,” Scott replied, “I'll let you explain it, Risk!”
“Uh, why me?”
“Because you were the execution team. I joined the remote control unit in that plan.”
Risk sighed. “Okay. I hope you are ready to listen to this plan. I forgot the details a bit, but let's get straight to the point.”
Risk explained the plan of the operation he had carried out when he was in the special forces. Everyone listened to the traveler's plan, including Elisia, who was amazed at the great plan she had never heard of. Risk even wrote on paper and asked Ilya to visualize the hologram to clarify his plan.
After explaining the plan, everyone nodded in understanding. For an ordinary person like Elisia, the plan she heard from a former special forces member was a complicated one. However, the plan was quite easy to carry out for this heist mission.
“Elisia, ask me if you don't understand,” Risk said.
“I fully understand your plan. I will follow it as best I can,” Elisia replied.
Risk smiled. “I know we can rely you on.”
“Okay. I think we can use this plan to infiltrate the main factory building and steal the device. This meeting ended with a good plan. Have a good rest!” Scott knocked on the round table.
Everyone cleared the round table from the scattered papers. After that, each of them did night activities. Elisia walked over to Kafka, who was sitting in the living room, chatting with Scott.
In Elisia's eyes, Kafka was like Rhino, in terms of character and body shape. Seeing Kafka in front of her right now was like seeing Rhino. It made Elisia miss her big man, who was in Province's apartment now.
Ilya came to bring them evening snacks. Elisia went over to see what food might be in a place like this. Unexpectedly, various cakes like those sold in Tivet’s shop were lined up on the table. There were [Buska] and [Roll Coconut], as well as more [Coconut Pancakes].
“I can only provide food like this. If you are hungry again, you can cook in the kitchen. However, there are only eggs and noodles on the kitchen shelf,” Ilya offered.
“Doesn’t matter. We'll eat it while it's fresh.” Kafka turned to Elisia. “Let's eat, My Liege!”
Elisia smiled at the call, making her feel happy to restore the joy in one's heart. She walked over to the front room table and took [Coconut Pancake], which had been her favorite food during her time at Tanggon. Elisia could see the happiness on Kafka's face when she recounted his encounter with the gangsters.
“Thank you for not giving up to conditions. Kafka, you are amazing!” Elisia whispered in her heart.
In a lively conversation, Elisia joined in to hear more of Kafka's story. Listening to stories had become a habit of the royal girl, considering that she had heard many mythical stories when she was in the palace.
“Actually, I still don't understand. What buildings are we going to infiltrate? It looks like it's not an ordinary factory,” Risk asked, remembering the plan.
“It's not a real factory, but a research center set up in this slum city. Because the city center of Runga is very dense, ELECTEC had built a laboratory on this land. That's where they make combat devices like The Camouflage Net,” Ilya answered.
“Is that true? I think they made it in the main building,” Kafka responded, who just found out.
“Actually, they made five combat devices in several places in Runga. When I read the file, it turns out that they also have a device in that place,” Scott interrupted.
“What's that? Could it be…” Ilya's eyes widened.
“Yes, Star of Energy.”
Everyone showed the response of surprise after listening to Scott's answer. Elisia didn't really take that as a surprise, since she didn't need the device. What she needed was The Camouflage Net and Holographic Shield.
“So, do we need to steal the device too?” Kafka asked.
“I don't think it's necessary,” Elisia replied.
Everyone turned to Elisia with shocked faces.
“If we steal those devices to defeat Captain Jayston, we'll only need two devices, The Camouflage Net and the Holographic Shield,” Elisia continued.
“Why do you say that we only need two devices?” Scott asked, confused. This was beyond his expectations.
“Because I already know what Jayston is really capable of,” Elisia replied firmly.
“Eh, did Upgrade tell you?” Risk asked, who immediately guessed.
“No, I have seen it myself. It closely related his abilities to super strong attacks and can weaken the attacks of others. For that, we must focus on our own defense,” Elisia explained.
“Then how do we fight it if we can do that? Do we need to weaken it?” Scott asked.
“He has an artifact that allows him to control blood magic. His iron elemental ability come from that thing. He also has two different abilities, but I don't know how they form yet.” Elisia explained what she saw and learned.
“If we want to defeat him, we must use defense as a weapon and attack him at the right time.” Elisia continued.
Everyone was silent for a moment while thinking about Elisia's words. The girl still didn't know what Jayston was really capable of. She had to lure that police captain's abilities out of his shell.
“Does Upgrade know about this?” Scott asked.
“He doesn’t know. I've asked it before. He's also still guessing if it’s Jayston he knows,” Risk replied, “However, how do you know Jayston's abilities? You can read enemy abilities now?”
“Hehe, it's only a small ability I have,” Elisia replied with an embarrassed smile, “If you guys want to keep looking for those five combat devices, I don't mind. You guys know more about Runga than me.”
Scott held his chin. “When I think about it again, we don't really need all those devices. We can still break through the border as long as we can handle the guards. Jayston certainly won't stay silent on this.”
“In that case, our goal is clear to take The Camouflage Net! Let's all rest! We'll wake up early tomorrow.” Kafka walked into the empty room.
“He's right. Time for a break!” Scott laid on the couch and immediately closed his eyes.
Ilya took Elisia to the room near the computer desk. When they got there, a neat and clean room greeted her. Looked simple, but worth to living in.
“This is your room during your stay here. If you need anything, just say it.” Ilya immediately left the princess.
Elisia nodded. “Thank you, Miss Ilya!”
After the door closed, Ilya walked over to the computer desk again and opened something to type a message. Suddenly, a phone rang. Ilya pressed the phone to her ear. It etched a look of shock on her face.

8 168MAZE - The Endless Quest
As all kids do, Hera wanted to be an explorer. Sadly when she turned 18, she discovered that her stats and lack of skills made her fail the requirements to become one, and she went to work on a bookstore. That should have been the end of her story. But when she wins a lottery to have her level up, she discovers a hidden skill and a rare one at that. The system gave her dream back, and this time she is not letting it go. ############################## The story is about a world where game-like systems are the norm. Everyone has a level, status, and even skills are a common thing. If your stats are good, you can also become an explorer, someone that ventures inside a place called MAZE, a dungeon of sorts filled with monsters, creatures, and things that the natural world is missing, such as magic and demi-humans. The story follows Hera, a woman who wanted to be an explorer, but her status were too low to become one. One day she wins a raffle that allows her to level up for the first time giving her the chance to achieve her childhood dream. It's more about how things work and what you can do with them than about power or revenge. The rhythm might be a bit slow for some, but that is the idea. I want to give sort of a slice of life feeling to most of it.
8 823The Systems of the Multiverse - A Guide for the Multiversal Traveler
The Systems of the Multiverse have their issues. I, an observer from outside the multiverse have made it into my mission to tell you, the multiversal traveler about those issues and dangers. This is a relatively low effort NaNoWriMo and Writhathon project. I want to test myself if I can manage 55k words in a month, likely updating every single day until the end. This story is told in the form of an in universe book. Well, I say story... While this definetly won't be great, I still hope it will be enjoyable. I do my best to avoid grammar mistakes and spelling issues, but won't promise anything. Corrections are welcome, this is also an excercise to improve my writing from a technical standpoint. Not from a worldbuilding and character standpoint however, for that you need time. Oh, the keyboards (and computers) that the observer destroys are not real and only exists in story to have an excuse to easily end this story at the end of NaNoWriMo. I also personally like reading LitRPG stories, so this isn't meant to hate them. It might come over that way, but many of those issues are simply fun to think about: what would really happen if the world is so, seen through a lease of negativity :-) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
