《Rise of the Forgotten》Ch.48 The Rebellion

The Monarch is a weak man. I know this very well, having served him for decades. Sadly, he was very well-liked and his death would cause issues that I didn't need nor want. I had waited years upon years for him to make a single mistake, a single miscalculation. Yet he didn't, in the many years, he reigned he, somehow, didn't make a single mistake.
Every move, every decision, every word he made he did so with intention and purpose. Anytime he made a mistake it was all just part of a grand plan. This frustrated me to no end. My family had been waiting for millennia to rule over the Dynasty. We were the rightful rulers. We were bred to rule, yet I and my kin had to serve.
Then, as if answering my pleads, something unexpected happened. The Tailmen wanted to conduct a crusade within both the Federation and the Dynasty. Anyone with a brain would realise the plot at hand and decline them any passage. As expected, the Monarch declined the Tailmen and went on with his days. Even with the Tailmen declaring war on both the Dynasty and the Federation.
I must admit that even I had underestimated the Tailmen. I didn't believe that even with their chief deity around they would be able to do much. How wrong all of us were. Two years after the declaration and they attacked both us and the federation. They smashed through our first lines of defense in minutes.
We all were shocked when we received reports of the battle. Not a single ship had been destroyed, and barely any had been seriously damaged. It was terrifying to know that the religious zealots had access to that level of technology. I hoped that at least one of the ships could be heavily damaged so that we could collect some of the ships and analyze it.
Sadly it was for naught. Within the week both galaxies had been dominated by the Tailmen. They showed no signs of stopping until the Monarch challenged the Alpha, as they called it, to a duel for the galaxy. I saw this as my golden opportunity. If I played my cards right then I could potentially get rid of two birds with one stone.
Now I see that I was foolish. The fleets that I prepared in advance for the duel are now being destroyed. To make matters worse, I haven't been able to contact Duke Serin. Now they are either dead or captured. Hopefully, they are dead, then I wouldn't have to kill him myself. Duke Quil and Duke Duke, a stupid name, are both trying to take some other planets with little success as well. They appeared behind enemy lines and are now facing huge amounts of trouble.
Now I have a choice to make, surrender because my plans have had no success at all and are crumbling in my hands or fight as long as I can and pray to whatever deities out there for success. I chose the latter, if I was going to lose then I would do so in a manner befitting of a Duke. I called out to all my forces to come together and hold out for as long as possible.
--------
It has been a few days and the Tailmen fleets have arrived around my last hold out. The rest of my forces have been crushed with little survivors. Now I wait in my fortress as my defense fleet is crushed by the overwhelming firepower of the Tailmen. The Tailmen fleet rushed to the planet as soon as they arrived in the system and crushed anything in their way.

Within an hour they had destroyed the weapons of the many space stations and are now going through them with the ground troops. My fleet had also been destroyed as well and we feel the pieces of ships crash into the planet's surface. The ground rumbles and shakes as I gaze out of the window.
I watch as shuttles come down and unload their cargo. Dozens of vehicles and their crew are unleashed on the surface and start to siege the fortress. Even with their firepower we still held on for days. It helped that I brought together the best that I had from across the galaxy and filled the fortress with as many supplies as it could hold. We used the ammunition with reckless abandon and held the ground until we couldn't no more.
They suffered little to no casualties at all and that frustrated me to no end. We would lose and there was nothing we could do about it. We couldn't beat them at any front. Nothing would work so I had to do something I saw as a last resort. I gathered around 300 civilians that were part of the population that stayed in the fortress. There were hundreds of thousands of them stationed around the fortress city.
Having gathered them all I had someone start the process. The civilians were all butchered and their blood and bodies would now be used for a better purpose. I watched on as some figures in robes and hood came in and started drawing runes and symbols. They were also chanting something that I didn't care to pay attention to. Even when I did out of curiosity I couldn't understand a word.
As they did this someone ran up to me and spoke with a worried tone. "SIR, The enemy has just received reinforcements. They have now broken through the first line of defense and are charging their way to this location." He had a distressed look on his face.
"What do they look like?" I said as a feeling of dread rose up my spine.
"They were groups of figures with Black and Silver armour and pelts of a beast on them. They are all leading the charge and are tearing through our defenses. Nothing is working on them sir."
"Relay my orders. Pull back all forces into the main fortress and have the biggest weapons we have armed and ready for use. Stall them for as long as you can. If you can stall them then we have a chance to win."
"Sir yes sir." He saluted then ran off.
I turned back to the ritual being done before turning around and leaving. I went to equip myself in my war gear. I also called for my guards to work with the defenses and hold them off as long as possible. Hopefully, we could hold them off.
--------
Panting and covered in blood, I ran through the halls of the fortress along with whoever was left. We could barely hold them off for a couple of minutes at first. We threw bombs and anti-air guns at them. Missiles and rockets. We had even collapsed many tunnels and halls to stall them and even through all that it had only been around half an hour.
We had even filled the halls with virus bombs and the deadliest of gases. Plasma bombs had also been deployed through the halls along with plasma cannons. We even had the halls flooded with radiation. We could barely hold them off. Even using the dead bodies of others had been of little help and suicidal charges couldn't be done anymore with the little numbers we had.

I had all of the remaining soldiers guard the halls that led to the ritual room. I ran past them all covered in my blood and the blood of others. I ran into the room and looked around. The air was buzzing with energy and it felt vile and repulsive. I walked up to the closest person who wasn't doing anything.
"How much longer?"
"Do not worry, it is nearly finished. We need only a minute before it is done."
"We may not have a minute. They are closing in and we can do little to hold them off."
"We know. But if you want the ritual to finish you better do something."
Glaring at him I turned around and left the room. I left it just in time as a few seconds later they arrived. With their shields held in front of them and their guns firing then walked forward at a steady pace. Seeing this I cried out. "CHARGE THEM." I then ran forward.
My men cried out and charged forward even as the people in front of them died. We collided with the enemy and pushed against them. Even as the people behind crushed those in front they pushed on. Still, they had been slowed down. Even slightly they had been slowed down.
This move was smart on my part as even if they killed those at the front it still wouldn't do much. The bodies would instead make a wall that protected those at the back and would be weighed against them as those in the back pushed against them. This move bought us that one minute.
Before the last seconds passed the enemies then formed a shell around themselves and protected each other as the regular infantry then did the same. As they did so a wave of energy then blasted out of the room that was behind us and rolled over the entire planet. It seeped into the bodies of the living and dead soldiers. Only the enemy was protected against this wave of energy.
Once the energy wave subsided my men and I then charged forward with newfound strength. The enemy barely had any time to get back into formation before being crashed into. They were pushed back as we crashed into them. Then the dead started to rise around them. They started to rise and attack all of those that were around them. I smiled as people struggled against them.
We started to push them back from the fortress. Now they started to suffer some casualties. There was fighting all over the place as they tried to defend themselves from the growing horde of undead soldiers. They also had to protect against my now buffed up soldiers that could think and use tactics. As they retreated further and further they then stopped.
Even as they stopped we still charged into them. We crashed against them as they strained to hold against the force of the charge. They didn't even try to kill us and just held their ground. It confused me as to the reason why they did this. I looked around and saw nothing as they held their line. We had pushed them out of the main fortress complex and into the fortress city streets.
It wasn't until the ones in the back parted and a figure dress in a white robe and hood came up that I knew why. Their god had appeared on the field. I sneered as I looked at him, he may have looked like one would expect from a god but he didn't feel like one. These thoughts were immediately shut up as his aura was released.
It pressed on us as and even weakened us. It was like facing an unclimbable mountain and told to climb it while naked. To make matters worse, the aura felt holy and pure. So pure that the undead around the area started to screech out as if in pain. They started to crumble and catch on fire when faced with the aura. The living soldiers didn't have it any easier as they were screaming out in pain and even started to fall to the ground.
Strangely I felt nothing and just stood there watching. He then spoke out in a voice that boomed out all across the city.
"You are a despicable person for what you have done and will not die as easily as your men. You will pay for the lives that you took." He then waved his hand and a wave of light blue fire spread across everyone.
All of the screaming and wailing stopped as the fire spread. I looked to one of the people next to me and saw the relieved look on their face. They looked at peace. My vision then started to turn black as I heard him speak again. "Rest well for you will never sleep well again."
------------
After knocking out the last rebel duke I then had my forces start to walk forward. We had lost around a thousand soldiers due to the undead and the duke. I didn't think that he would actually have that type of ritual carried out. While he may be a corrupt and arrogant asshole he wasn't that evil.
With the duke now knocked out and the undead and buffed up soldiers dealt with we now had to deal with the people who carried out the ritual. Once that was done and the fortress was taken then the whole rebellion was dealt with. This was the last hold out of rebels left. All other fortresses across the galaxy were taken in short order and this planet was the last to be taken.
The other fortresses across the planet were also taken in short order but were now dealing with the problem of the undead. Thankfully they had priests that were able to weaken and destroy the undead and that the undead here were the strongest. The undead would be more than a match for the regular soldiers here but got weaker the further they were from the epicenter of the ritual.
As we approached the room where the ritual took place and everyone could feel the vile and repulsive energy coming from it. We entered the room and saw a group of thirty people around the room in hoods and cloaks. They stood there motionless and in silence as we spread across the room. Once we were done one of them spoke.
"So you are the proclaimed god that has descended to the world of mortals." He spoke with a gravelly voice.
"You say mortals but there are quite a few ways to become immortal. Some races are even like that naturally." I said.
"True. Yet you miss my point."
"Have I? Maybe I'm just being nitpicky."
He sighed. "It seems that you are messing with me, as someone that claims they are god would."
I shook my head. "You see, I never said I was a god. Not a single time. These people just claimed I am one of their own volition. All I have done is not deny their claims."
"So you let them keep their delusions?"
"Who says their delusions but you? Ever since I have been alive I have experienced the power that their faith has brought. For all I know, I actually am a god."
"You sound arrogant."
"Yes, I do. But shall we get to the main point?"
"Lets. I am here to see what you are made of and to kill you."
I whistled. "Now that is a tough job."
"It is. Still, I must do the job I was assigned to do." He said with a tired tone.
"Then let's get to it," I said as I clapped my hands.
He took control of the energy around the room and tried to smother me with it. I smiled at him and waved my hand taking control of the energy. The hooded figures then took out swords and charged at my men. He then also charged at me with a sword. Then they clad themselves in armour made of energy in a way I had never seen before.
It was like the armour was already made and they just projected it on to themselves. They weren't uniform either as they all had different styles and types of armour. Some even looked animalistic and beast-like. They all fought on par with my guards and left me heavily impressed. So far only the other Alpha could fight with my guards and not be overwhelmed.
I dodged the swing of his blade and kicked him away. I followed up by sending icicles at him along with bolts of lightning. He responded by sending out a pulse of energy that shattered the icicles and diverted the lightning. The crack that appeared on his armour by my kick had mended itself. He stood no worse for wear.
"Impressive. I didn't expect you to be of such a high caliber." I said as people battled on around me. Most of my guards had taken their battle elsewhere and only a few people remained.
"I can say the same to you. This is going to be a challenge." He said as he raised his sword.
"What, killing me or landing a hit on me?" I said as a sword appeared on my left.
"Not becoming bored while killing you." He said with a bored and tired voice.
My eyes glowed as I spoke. "Oh, I do hope you can back those words up."
I launched toward him, breaking the ground in the process. I swung my sword down and gathered fire in my right hand. He blocked my sword with his own but strained against the force it contained, the ground cracked underneath his feet. I then unleashed a blast of fire that threw both of us away from each other.
We both landed on our feet but he wasn't as steady as I was. His armour was cracked all over and he wasn't that steady on his feet. Once his armour had fully mended itself he spoke again. "It seems that I have severely underestimated you. I will not do it anymore." He launched to me and shattered the ground. He swung at me and I met his blow.
We then moved around the room trading blows with each other. Neither of us could land a hit on each other and the room around us was getting destroyed. I then took the fight up a notch and started to pressure him. I was also analysing the armour that he had conjured up as well. If I could figure it out then I wouldn't need to make any more armour and bring it around.
He then met the pressure and turned it into an even fight once more. The room around us was a mess due to the fight and only became messier as we continued to fight harder. The fight mounted further and further and went on for half an hour until he couldn't go any further. At this point, he was stronger than even the other Alpha while he overcharged himself.
We fought more and more as he started to become laborious. He started to slow down as I continued to pressure him further. We continued on as he continued to slow down and get weaker. I then kicked with enough force that his armour shattered and he blasted away. He smashed through many walls before he slowed down enough and stopped. I then bombarded his area.
I stopped after a little while and then approached the area. I cleared the area of dust and smoke and looked at him. He was so damaged that I was amazed that he was still alive. His skin was burned black like charcoal and his remaining limbs were twisted and had bone protruding out of them. One of his eyes hung out of his head and his organs were barely in his body.
He gazed at me with his functioning eye and spoke in a horse and strained voice. "You are very strong but know that there is stronger."
"I know. You are currently 16,053 standard years of age. I am 94."
He looked at me in as much shock as he could and then laughed before coughing up blood. "Good luck young ruler. You will need it." He then looked down as the light in his eye faded. I looked at him with some respect and conjured up black and white flames. I burned his body with the fires and turned around to see how my guards were doing.
I walked through the corridors and saw that my guards had won their fights, though not as cleanly as I had. Some had lost limbs, while others had deep gashes. They were all injured on some level and were resting. I had them get up and go back to the ship to heal up as we were now finished with what we were going to do.
I arrived on the ship and separated to go do what we needed to do. I entered my room and laid down on my bed and started to fall asleep. I had control over 3 whole galaxies and would need to keep them under control and at peace. This could wait until tomorrow though as I fell asleep.
