《Rise of the Forgotten》Ch.45 The Moments After

I walked through the halls of the ship again, my armour punctured and torn. I walked with a spear and a rifle in my hands. They all watched me, staring in disbelief. I had just killed their Alpha. We fought and I came out on top. No one could believe it but they had to. They witnessed it, they watched how far he was pushed and how he pushed himself to his limits. They watched how it wasn't enough.
Now there are two options: accept the punishment I was going to bestow or resist. I walked through the halls as they debated the matter within themselves. Slowly, one by one, they came to their own conclusions. They moved in the rooms they were in and formed two groups. One of those groups started to attack us.
They charged at my guards and soldiers that were guarding them and unleashed a tide of attacks. The combined attacks threw the guards back and the attackers started to try and take their weapons. The rest of the guards on the ship moved to assist them. They started to stun the attackers.
The rebels started to pick up the confiscated weapons and fire at the guards. I had seen enough of this and pressed down my aura at full force. I then bellowed out, "STOP. You WILL accept judgement for your actions. Any resistance will render your lives forfeit." My voice echoed through the ship.
None of them surrendered. They attacked with a furious assault. The ones that didn't have any weapons charged with reckless abandon trying to get some. I handed the spear and rifle to one of my guards and pulled out my pistol. I fired it over and over, killed them with each shot. My troops rallied together and protected each other's back.
My guards massacred them. There was no mercy or hesitation. The rebels tried to hold out against the assault of my guards and did for a short bit. Sadly, they could hold on against the sheer firepower my guards put out. In mere moments rebels were put down. Not a single one lived. I left the ship in short order and returned to mine.
I had support units gather all of the bodies together so that they could be laid to rest on Ev'Andel. The ones on the ship were not as badly corrupted as every other one so they would be given this honor. The bodies were quickly transported to my ship. I had them all placed into body pods and had them all be taken one by one to the gateway.

I had them stored in an empty building in the city. I would have them buried when the crusade was over. I also spent some time with the people who remained on the planet. They were all doing extremely well and most were even staying in their mist forms. While being in another form felt normal it didn't feel natural. It was like knowing it was you but it didn't feel exactly like you.
As I saw this I also released my own transformation. Even though I had combined my mist and physical form together there was still some level of discomfort. When I went to my mist form it felt freeing. We didn't care what we looked like at all but being in our original form was like taking off your shoes after a long day.
Mists of almost all colors mingled in the air, speaking to each other with no noise. We had an inherent ability of telepathy, you know since we had no actual vocal cords. Even before UE was unleashed we could use our psychic abilities to aid us. UE abilities and psychic abilities look the same but are inherently different.
UE uses the connection between your soul and the universe to allow you to manipulate the energy. Psychic power relied solely on the ability to use your mind to affect the world. This made it very hard to detect as when using UE you could feel the shift in the energy as it was being used. Well if you paid attention that is. Most people don't and only pay attention to how much they have.
Though psychic powers had an advantage in stealth, they weren't as versatile or cost-effective. UE could enhance your body and create amazing amounts of destruction or creation. Psychic power could also do that but you were more likely to turn your mind into slush if you tried. But psychic powers could influence a person without them realizing it. That was something that you weren't able to do with UE, at least not without some form of evidence.
So with this speaking to each other with telepathy was like child play. It actually was child play, they would try and come up with many voices and tones and see who could do the most. I watched this happen with the children that ran in the streets and played about. We had a big boost in population once I had the more civilian-like Omegians come and reside on the planet.

They had even brought their spouses if they were part of another species, though they were kept under strict watch in order to keep the planet safe. I wouldn't let the planet fall under my watch. I floated through the city and watched the people live their lives. There weren't enough of us here to make the entire city feel lived in but it wouldn't take long. Hopefully.
I checked in on the scientists and researchers that worked in the massive science building towards the center of the city. It housed all of the most advanced pieces of tech that the Empire had made during its history. Automatons walked through the buildings making sure it was kept in good repair. I had all of the academic personnel all go through the available knowledge here and in the Librarium.
They had been making good progress. So far my people were doing well. They all seemed to be happy and were working well. They felt free and at peace as they no longer had to hide from their own species and they could have more children than before. They could only produce around 3 children in their lifetime before and that was if they were lucky.
This caused them to be stressed out and caused the number of Omegians to fall over the many years. With them coming to the planet they were able to have more children. This knowledge was a great source of happiness for them. They could also live longer which meant they could produce more children as well. Though this came at a cost of having around a couple of decades between each child. This wasn't an ironclad rule though and exceptions did happen.
From the hundreds of thousands of Omegians around half of them had children. This was an extreme boon to the population of the Omegians. This also helped the happiness of my people as it could be seen that we were finally coming back. It would take centuries until we could be a truly powerful race but we would get there.
After spending a couple of hours on the planet I returned to my ship. The time I spent around my people was well spent and helped me relax. Killing the people you are supposed to protect and help was never good. It drained me having to kill them even though I knew they wouldn't surrender. Even the ones that I killed before had pained me.
My place as Alpha led me to feel this. I would always feel a sense of protectiveness over them. I would always want to protect them, even at the cost of my own health. All of us did, even the 4th when he was under the influence of UE. It was deeply embedded into us. The people would feel trust and would follow me, while I would seek to protect them and guide them.
I was also feeling this way to others outside of the Omegians. Though this feeling was more like I was watching out for them. I was like a father to my people and followers. This must have been another effect of the faith they put into me as their chief deity. I also felt a growing connection to someplace outside of the Mainspace. It didn't feel like it was part of the Sub-Spaces either. It felt outside of the universe yet still connected to it. I will investigate further.
I reached the bridge and asked for a status update of securing the people on board that ship. They were almost complete with transferring the ones I designated to the prison ships. The rest would be moved to a different ship and the ship they were on would be used as part of the fleet. The fleet had joined up with us shortly after I went to Ev'Andel. The entire fight had only taken a couple of minutes, with most of that time when I was walking through the ship.
Once the people had been moved and transferred we started to leave where we were. The ships shifted into the Sub-Space corridor and we warped away onto our next destination.

8 78Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
