《Rise of the Forgotten》Ch.39 A Stroll Through Dispare

We moved on to capture other planets soon after the fleet was ready. I had Erendial and Aldion send out messages to various leaders in the federation after we had captured Earth. During the days after we captured Earth, I had taken a little break along with my guards. I looked at the ancient buildings and cities that the planet held and listened about the culture that had built them.
I had let the people send out photos and videos about my break as I had nothing to hide. This has helped the other people of the galaxy get a little bit of a grip on who I am. This would help them decide on whether they wanted to fight or come peacefully under my banner. It might have been a little useless as I did show that I could destroy their fleets with ease if I wanted. But if I was going to become their leader, one way or the other, then I wanted them to get to know me.
As the fleet was getting ready I had to leave a small detachment to keep the planet and look over it. Once the ships were ready we left to capture another planet. We were going to a planet that held a base that contained some of the Arch Heretics. We had already taken and destroyed some of the bases on other worlds but this one is the main branch of the heretics in this region.
The planet is a vast jungle world that is very beautiful but contains many hidden bases and secret labs that conduct vile experiments. The planet itself is mostly left alone for the most part. There are so many planets in the galaxy and many more Sub-Spaces. Even with the vast populations in the galaxy many planets are left alone and are noted down for later use. As such this planet had little security and no actual defense fleet.
When we arrived I viewed as shuttles containing vehicles moved out of their ships and traveled down to the planet. I viewed this and then I went to the 'teleporter'. It basically just shifted the space around me so that I ended up where I wanted to be. It also worked with large groups of people and vehicles. Sadly the other ships didn't possess the larger teleporters necessary for the vehicles so they had to use shuttles to take them down.
Once I stepped into the room, along with my guards, the space surrounding me started to shift and wave. Space was warping around me and my guards as we then were transported to the surface. Tall trees surrounded us along with the vegetation. We had been transported a kilometer away from the base we were attacking. After we had gotten a hold of our surroundings we then moved to where the base is located.

They knew we were here, after all, we had ships in orbit and shuttles coming down. I could also feel how many there were as well. I already knew this as Erendial had told me, but now I could feel it. I knew how many, where they were, and how strong they were. I could feel their concern and anxiety. I could feel the stench each of them emitted and it disgusted me. I could feel the vile and wrongness of the aura. It was unnatural and polluted.
We quickly moved to the base. Not everyone there is a traitor after all. There are many Omegians and other species that have been collected to be used for conversion or experimentation. We came upon the base very soon. Its turrets and automatons moved to stall or stop us. My guards dispatched them quickly. I had some stay to guard the entrance and others move to secure other points of exit.
With my halberd in hand, I smashed open the thick sealed door. It was a 50 cm thick solid piece of metal that had been sealed into the surrounding walls. I punched it over and over denting it. Eventually, it couldn't handle the force of my strikes and a hole opened up and my guards moved to expand it. Once the hole was big enough some of them moved into the base as I followed.
We moved down the stairwell that led to where the base actually was. We moved quickly down the stairs until a barrage of laser fire came upon us. Turrets then moved out of well-concealed hiding holes and then aimed at us. My guards activated their shields and protected against the turrets. I sent out a wave of psychic energy and crushed the turrets. We moved on.
I only took with me a dozen of my guards while the rest either stayed on the ship or helped out with taking the other bases on the planet. Each of them were built by different people for different reasons. Still, they each did horrible experiments.
We moved forward with my guards each having their blaster rifles out. These things could pierce through armour like tissue paper and could even take down heavily armoured vehicles. They could also use UE to fire as well. They had their arms that projected their shields held in front of them as they laid the end of the rifle on it poking out of the shield.

We moved onwards as I crushed every turret that popped out until we came upon the end of the stairs. We then entered a common room and were immediately fired upon. Turrets and people unleashed tons of laser fire upon us. They threw grenades and c4 at us. While they wouldn't damage us, they would throw us off our feet or slightly stun us. Usually.
Instead, the guards boot magnetically locked to the ground as I formed a barrier made out of UE around myself. They then exploded as the attackers continued to fire at us. My guards then unleashed their own fire and started to kill each of them in short order. These people were only the cannon fodder to test us out. After they were killed we took a look around the room we were at.
The room had three hallways connected to it. One led to the sleeping areas and private rooms of the people stationed here. One led to where they experimented and tried to convert people. The last one led to where they kept their captives and supplies. Erendial told me that there was no one down the first hallway. I had the group split up in two and each of us took a hallway.
My group went to where the experiments took place. There the traitors waited with many traps and defenses in the way. We walked through the corridor as my guards went room by room killing everyone that went against them. We moved on after every room and came upon many traps. One of them tried to transport us into the ground, while another tried to rip us apart with very small contained singularities.
All failed. We moved on as more cannon fodder tried to stop us. We slaughtered them all. Some had holes in their heads, while others had their heads ripped off. Each different species. We carried on to where the traitors lay in wait. Each room we passed and cleared contained horrors of failed experiments. It amazed me at how far they could have fallen.
After all, while I am disgusted at the mere thought of another Alpha, I would just kill it for no reason. No, I am killing it and its creators for what they have done and are doing. At the first mention of its existence, I was filled with a murderous intent but after some time I had calmed down and thought it over. After some reflection, I knew I would be wrong for killing something just because it had been born.
Then Erendial had told me what it had done and why it did those things. After that, I was determined to kill it. These experiments in the rooms showed just how twisted it was, as it had ordered these experiments. Some people had been twisted genetically altered that made them into things. Some looked like blobs that moaned in pain as its body killed and healed itself.
Others had forms that caused constant discomfort and pain to themselves. Some people were even in a state of spatial flux. This caused their body parts to be disconnected and reconnected somewhere else on their body as they felt the entire process. Some experiments were entirely psychological. People were shown and forced to do horrible things in a state where they didn't think or feel. Then they were brought out of that state and had the memories of what happened come at them all at once.
Some people had even been in these experiments for years and even though normally you would be numb at that point they continued to stay fully aware. Their psyche tried to collapse or break but it wouldn't. Some people were pushed to collapse and had their psyche repaired. Some rooms contained people who shouldn't even be alive. They had been disemboweled and had their organs pinned across the room. Yet they still lived and were forced to watch and feel everything.
Most rooms weren't even used for experiments. They would just be used to torture people. People did this for entertainment and pleasure. It sickened me. After this was over I would burn this place to the ground. This place would face my wrath.
We moved with more and more purpose after each room. Each room with different victims. Eventually, we came across the last room in the hall. It faced us as we approached it. It contained the truly corrupted Omegians. They will have hell to pay.

A lot of new content has been added to the early chapters since the end of May. The first chapters are still under construction and editing, but all the major changes are done. I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.

On a rainy night of watching life pass him by, an explosion suddenly rips our young protagonist out of the bland world he knew. Meeting an old man claiming to be able to use magic, will his life finally change? Will the world finally give him a chance? This is a complete rewrite of my earlier story. Aside from my own personal problems with depression, there were many, many things I came to dislike about the way it was progressing. With the low quality of the earlier chapters, it was in dire need of at least an editing run. Instead of just editing the subpar chapters, I decided to just do it over again and change what I did not like. Please also note that I am not a native English speaker and thus might make mistakes. I have tried hard to find and correct most, but I am certainly not perfect. If you notice anything that is wrong just leave a comment below the chapter and I will try to get to it.
