《Lich God Deidre》Chapter 07 – Can I Have Your Body?

He certainly spoke to a lich in a fearless tone. Perhaps all wives were to be feared. Would I have that kind of power if I got married? I scoffed mentally. I’m way too soft. I did as he said and cast Cadaver Possession on the man. Now, I could finally live my life the way I wanted, and I could become a man for whatever reason I might’ve needed.
I was able to switch to my main body, the woman, and the man anytime I wanted, but it needed a minute for the process to be done so it wasn’t something to do in the middle of a fight.
I finally put on panties again, and it felt so homey and comfortable. Instead of a normal bra that tried to stab me to death every chance it got, I opted for a sports bra. This girl didn’t have the largest mountains, so it worked out really well. I put on clothes like the townsfolk to blend in and wrapped a cloak around me. The cowl helped me disguise my face, just in case someone might’ve noticed the girl and strike up a conversation, or a fight.
We went back to Solina’s room in an inn, and she helped me dye my hair black, and cut it shoulder length. “Hey, Deidre?”
“Yeah?” I dried my hair with a towel.
She suddenly hugged me from behind. “Thank you! I mean it! I really thought I’d die that night! It’s a bit weird hugging a corpse that’s really a lich, but, now that you’re ‘alive’, we can be friends! If uh, you’re okay with that.”
Oh fuck, holy shit, is it really happening?! Be cool, be cool, Deidre! Just act normal… I gently touched her hand in front of me. “I’d love that, Solina.”

“Just call me Lina. Anyway, Tina and Adam are going back to Perseverance since our original mission failed, but I want to try again with you!”
“Perseverance? I’m going there too!” I looked at her.
And so, we decided to complete the hobgoblin quest as quickly as possible. We rode back into the forests where I met her and actually found the hobgoblins. They were about a head taller than normal goblins and more muscular. Furthermore, their green skin turned brown. Solina pointed them out to me when we scouted a group. We needed to kill them and prove our kills by collecting their either side of ear.
She charged in with a couple daggers, plus she was hidden with Camouflage and Conceal. Because I granted it to her, I could see an outline of her, which showed me how precise and amazing her technique was. Each strike hit a fatal area and she did away with four goblins and one hobgoblin in less than fifteen seconds. Her focus was insane. To see that she tried so hard reminded me of her mortality. Unlike me, mistakes and hesitation could cost her something that couldn’t be bought – life.
My only contributions to the fight were those stealth buffs. In a couple hours, we finally had enough hobgoblin ears to complete her quest.
We flew back to the town on Dreadhoof, of course with stealth spells on, and only took them off when we were out of sight. She collected the reward for the quest, which was quite a lot considering it was a party of ten people. “Here you go,” she emptied some coins out into another pouch, “this is your share.”
Money? Would I need money as a Lich God? I don’t need to eat or anything. I don’t need to sleep either. I don’t need to buy clothes or armor. “It’s alright, money isn’t something I would need.”

She grabbed my hand, pulled it up, and rested the pouch of copper and silver coins in my hand. “Yes, you do need it. You’ll thank me later.”
“Y-yes, ma’am,” I joked. After she prepared her things, we made our way to Perseverance, a city, much bigger than the small town we were just at. She was quite excited to register me in ADAS, and in something called the Wizard Guild. She, on the other hand, was in the Warrior Guild. These guilds acted as a place of training, resources, and support for particular roles. They didn’t have as many branches as ADAS, but you could find them in every main city. There was also the Merchant Guild, and the Knight Guild, which was very similar to the Warrior Guild but focused much more on the defense and protection of others.
She was excited to put me in the Wizard Guild, but as we neared the city, she suddenly became a bit depressed. “I forgot those guys put a seal on people.” She palmed her face. Before we could go into the city, she told me that the Knight Guild was for knights, but also for healers, and as such, they viewed themselves as having the moral high-ground. They outlawed the practice of necromancy, much like the Wizard Guild did. “Even if you wanted to join, you wouldn’t be allowed to.”
“Then I’ll join the Warrior Guild. They don’t have magic type restrictions, right?” I asked.
“Uh, well, no. People don’t join the Warrior Guild to cast magic.” She chuckled and gestured me inside so Dreadhoof flew in.
The city was huge, and brimming with life. Like any other place, there were the good parts and the bad parts, but there wasn’t a lot of bad parts to be seen. The guilds and ADAS populated a long stretch of the main street. Solina took me to Perseverance’s ADAS branch first so I could register as an adventurer and earn money from quests. That way, I could also officially join her party and journey to all kinds of places with her.
Admittedly, I was pretty excited myself. It all felt like a game. You get a quest, kill some monsters, get a reward, and live your life. And the with outrageous spells at my disposal, I wasn’t very scared of the unknown anymore.

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
