Thanks a lot for this idea!
Climbing through the window was a lot harder than I thought it would be. As I climb through the window I feel a pillow hit my face.
"Ow, what was that for?"
Ayako (Ayaka) crosses his arms and pouts, "You can't just keep coming through my window when you want. What if I was getting dressed?" He pouts and a pink tint cascades over his cheeks.
I smile and give him a thumbs-up, "You know you love it when I visit."
He sighs and sits back down on his bed, "You know my parents don't like you right? They think you're a bad influence on me."
I pout and frown, "That's not fair! I've never done anything to them."
Ayako gives me a look of disbelief and I laugh, "What about that one time when you decided it would be funny to climb through their window when they were sleeping? My dad almost kicked you."
I laugh at the memory and sit down next to Ayako on the bed, "That wasn't my fault! It was dark outside! I couldn't tell which window was yours!"
"You almost gave them a heart attack. -_-"
"Heart attacks are temporary, our friendships are everlasting."
I lay back on his bed and get comfortable.
"If they knew you were here they would kill you and then me."
"Not if they can't catch me." I wink at him and he rolls his eyes.
"Whatever. Why are you here anyway?"
"Can't I just see my best friend?"
"No."
"Rude. I'm just here because I missed you. We haven't hung out lately."
He sighs and lays back next to me, "I'm sorry, my parents...they won't let me hang out unless I'm finished all my work...I never finish until really late in the day."
I turn over and lay on my stomach, watching him, "What if I helped you?"
"I don't trust you."
"Ouch. Come on! You know I'm good at school! I do well in school! I already did mine!"
I sit up and he sits up next to me, "What's in it for you?"
"Mean. Nothing. I just want to help out a friend in need."
"..."
"But if you'd like to pay for ice cream, I'm not opposed to the idea." I smile cheekily at him and he frowns.

"Fine."
"Yay!!"
I set down my book bag and pull out my homework and hand it to him.
A couple of minutes later he finished his homework and I smile, proud of our progress.
"Now shoo, go see if you can leave!!"
He smiles gratefully and opens the door and walks through it, making sure to close it after himself.
A few moments later he walks back with a sad look on his face, "They said no."
"What why??"
"They said that it's too late to go out."
"That's bull-"
"It's fine. I'm used to it. I didn't think they'd say yes anyway."
I frown and stand up off his bed and I grab his hand and start pulling him towards the window.
"Come on."
"Whoa, what are you doing??"
"I'm taking you out."
He blushes slightly, "But- how? I can't go out-"
"Sometimes you gotta break a few rules. Come on, just this once, come with me. I want to take you out to eat, maybe go somewhere fun."
He furrows his brows but then a determined look appears on his face and he smiles, "Let's go then."
I make sure to lock his room door and I pull him out the window onto his roof.
"Just follow my lead and you'll be okay. I won't let anything happen to you. Trust me." I assure him.
He smiles and he relaxes his grip a little, "Of course I trust you. Though I should be the one saying those lines."
I giggle and for the first time in a long time, I hear his wondrous laugh that I've yearned to hear. He rarely laughs, always so serious, it's my goal to bring him happiness, even if it's just a smile.
Not to say his parents are mean or abusive, just strict, he never gets to have fun or go out.
As I begin to step down to the lower roof I can feel his hesitation so I turn around and squeeze his hand tightly, "I promise, I'll take care of you. I'll take the blame if they find out."
He smiles and I can feel the tension lessen, he squeezes my hand gently and nods, determined. "Ok, where do we go first?"
I smile cheekily and put a finger over my lips, "Shh, it's a surprise. If we hurry, we might be able to catch it in time."

He looks at me confused but smiles.
"Ok. I trust you."
After a few moments of driving around town, I pull up to a pop-up carnival and hop out of the car, locking it as we walk towards the entrance.
"I promise you'll love it! I'm so glad it's still in town!" I smile and I take his hand, pulling him towards the attractions.
By the time we leave the carnival, it's dark outside.
"Crap. It's getting late. It's already 11 pm."
"(y/n), my parents are going to kill me if they find out that I snuck out the house...and then they're going to kill you."
I smile and giggle, "Relax Ayako! I told you that I would take care of you. Even if something is to happen, I'll never leave your side."
He smiles and relaxes slightly.
We walk back to the car and before we know it, we're off.
A few minutes pass and Ayako starts to get fidgety, "What's wrong?"
"What if they find out I snuck out?"
"Ayako..." I sigh and frown staring down the road.
"Just enjoy being out while you can okay? We'll worry about the what-ifs later. For now, we're going to get ice cream."
"I really have to get home now...and it's 11:30 pm..."
"Come on, just this once, humor me and grab some ice cream with me."
"Fine."
"Yes!"
Once we arrive at the ice cream parlor we sit outside on the benches and eat our ice cream in comfortable silence.
A cool breeze brushes across my shoulders and I shiver, "This was a bad idea, why did we get ice cream in fall at night?"
He chuckles and smiles, "Finally using your brain are you now?"
I pout and he laughs, scooting close to me and pulling his arm around my shoulders, "Better?"
I blush slightly and hold his hand wrapped around my shoulders, "Yes."
"Aww, all of a sudden your shy?"
"I-it's not like that you idiot..!"
"Mhm~"
"Ayako...I like you. I really like you but I don't want to mess up what we have now..."
He starts choking on his ice cream and I pat his back and look on to him in concern, "Are you okay??"
"You can't just say things like that out of nowhere! I wasn't prepared at all." He blushes and turns his head away, a slight tint on his cheeks but his arm is still wrapped around me."
I blush and we sit in silence until we finish eating and get back in the car, driving back to his house. I park down the block and we walk back to his house.
He keeps his distance which is unlike him and my nerves get the best of me, 'was it wrong of me to say that to him all of a sudden?' 'why would I admit something so stupid to him?'
We approach the side of his house and I help him jump back onto the roof and back through his window. I sit on his bed in silence as he gets ready for bed in his connected bathroom.
I lay back down and stare at the ceiling, 'did I ruin it for us?'
"(y/n)? You're still here?"
"Ehm, well yeah-uhm, I'll leave now..."
I stand up and walk towards the window when he pulls me to his chest. I blush when I feel his bare chest on my skin.
He rests his chin on the top of my head and I can feel him sniffing my hair, "Please don't go...I don't know what we are and I certainly don't want to ruin what we do have but I do know one thing...I'm in love with my best friend. I'm in love with you."
I feel my heart pulsing faster and for a second I forget how to breathe.
"I should've spoken up sooner when we were at the shop...but I couldn't because it's you. It's always been you from the beginning...you make my heart pulse. I look forward to your visits every morning. Any day you're not here it feels wrong."
He tightens his grip around me and we fall back onto his bed. He lays on top of me and holds me close to his chest. I smile and hug him back, taking in his scent.
"Ayako...what does that make us then?"
"I don't know but I'd like to find out."
I smile and kiss his chin, "I'd like that."
