The annoying sound of my alarm wakes me up and I jump out of bed. Just as I reach to turn it off a figure appears in my room with a lance.
"Eek! What are you doing in my room?"
"I am protecting you from whatever is making that horrendous noise." He stands in front of me and points his lance towards my nightstand.
"Wait, wait, wait, that's just my alarm."
"Alarm?"
"Yes, my alarm! It reminds me of when I need to wake up for school."
He pouts and throws my phone at me and I turn it off.
"Why's it so damn loud? It's annoying as hell."
I laugh and he helps me off the floor, "That's the point dummy. How else am I supposed to wake up on time? Now get out. And next time, don't just appear in my room, use the door and knock."
"And try to wear something so that you'll fit in!"
"Tch. Whatever." He dissipates into thin air and I sigh, "Dummy, I just told him not to do that."
With the morning's chaotic events behind us, I grab his hand to rush him out the door to get to school on time, "Come on, we're gonna be late!"
He grumbles and pouts, "Stupid humans."
Out of breath I sit down on the bus and he sits next to me and I pout, "Aww, mouchi, don't be like that. We're not all bad."
I give him puppy dog eyes and his cheeks tint slightly, "Shut up. You're so damn annoying. And don't call me mouchi."
I giggle, "Why not? It's fitting. I'm keeping it."
"Tch. Idiot." I smile and look out the window, falling asleep at some point.
I wake up leaning on Scaramouche's shoulder to the sound of him shouting in my ear and I yell at him, "What the hell is your problem? Why are you so loud?"
He says nothing and I look towards the person he was yelling at, the bus driver?
She looks over at me with an angry expression, "Good, you're awake. Your boyfriend wouldn't let the bus move anywhere until you woke up. It's been 20 minutes."

My eyes widen and I look over at Scaramouche horrified, "Why would you do that? You should've just woken me up...!"
He pouts, "She tried to touch you! You need your sleep. This is your stop, the bus can't move until you finished."
I blush and shake my head, "I am so sorry, he just has brain damage and sometimes he goes too far."
"Hey!"
The lady nods and looks solemnly at Scaramouche, "I understand, have a nice day. Do take care of him." I smile and motion for Scaramouche to quickly get out of the seat and move to the aisle to leave the bus.
I drag his hand to my class, "Are you crazy? You can't stop the whole bus just so I can sleep and make it to class on time!"
He shrugs nonchalantly, "Whatever." He suddenly perks up and holds out his arm in front of me protectively. "Monsters, they're everywhere. I can sense them." I nod.
"Of course, my English professor is an elf. He is a kind, sweet man."
His eyes widen, "You didn't tell me there were other non-humans in this world." I rub the back of my neck and giggle, "You didn't ask. You were too busy rummaging through my fridge last night."
He grumbles and walks in front of me as we make it to my first class, he tries to walk into my English lecture but I stop him, "This isn't your first class."
I show him his first class and he pouts, "How can I protect you from the other side of the school?"
I smile and shoo him away, "I'll be fine in this class. Just make sure you're on time for your class." He goes to start walking away but I pull on his shirt, "Right, don't tell anyone you're a...you know, demon. People at this school don't like them, they have sort of a bad reputation here..." I hesitate, "Be careful."
I let go of him and walk back into my class and I swear I see a ghost of a smile on his face as I turn my back on him." When I turn back around he's gone. I smile, he'll be okay as long as he doesn't try to fight anyone.

A few hours later my lecture comes to an end and I walk to the cafeteria to search for my friends. When I spot them I wave. Diluc, and Kaeya. They motion over for me to sit down and I decide to sit next to Kaeya, across from Diluc.
"I saw you had a new friend. Will he be joining us today?" Diluc asks in a nonchalant manner, I shrug.
"I don't know. Maybe. I haven't seen him since this morning. Wait you saw me and didn't even say hi?! Rude!"
Kaeya laughs, "That's my brother for you. Not much of a talker."
"Shut it eyepatch. For your information my dear brother, she was walking into a lecture and by the time I saw her, I didn't want to disturb her." Kaeya laughs and eats his food now quiet but smirking.
A few moments later I feel someone's presence next to me sit down I look over and see Scaramouche sitting down with a sad-looking lunch tray.
"This is what they serve here? Tch. I could make better food with my eyes closed."
"Mouchi! You came to eat lunch with us!" I throw my hands over him and hug him.
"Hey, stop that! Don't call me that it's embarrassing! My name is not Mouchi you damn human!" He tries to push me off but I just hug him even tighter.
"So, you're new here. How did you guys meet?" Diluc says, I can practically feel the suspicion in his eyes.
I let go of Scaramouche and face Diluc, "Oh, he uhm, needed medical attention when he fell in my front yard after trying to run through the storm the other day trying to get home. So I helped him."
Kaeya eyes Scaramouche suspiciously but Scaramouche just continues eating his food peacefully, not even making eye contact with them.
"I see. You two seem pretty close for only just meeting." Kaeya says.
I giggle and hug Kaeya tightly, "You know that's just how I am." He pats my back and I can feel the radiation of disgust practically coming from him.
I let go of Kaeya and steal some of his chips from his plate.
"Where are you from?" Diluc asks.
"Not here." Is all he says and he continues eating his food in silence.
"Must've been quite the change to come to this school." Diluc continues.
"Sure."
I suddenly stand up trying to break the tension, "Ok! We have to go now. Our next class starts soon. Bye~" I wave to them and pull Scaramouche up from the table.
When we are far enough from them he whispers in my ear, "I don't trust them." I smile and pat his hand.
"Trust me, they're my best friends. They would do anything for me."
A couple of weeks later I'm making food for Scaramouche when the strangest thing happens. In a few moments, Scaramouch is in front of me in an instant. I hold onto his arm as I watch the strange purple portal form in front of me.
"What is that Mouchi...?"
He shakes his head, "A portal. A way home." I gasp and he turns to look at me with sadness and surprise in his eyes.
We wait a few moments and a figure steps out, he has bright blue eyes and orange hair.
Scaramouche whispers, "Ajax."
He waltzes up to Scaramouche and Scaramouche motions for me to get further behind him. I hide behind him and peek from over his shoulder.
"It's time to come home now. Her majesty the Tsaritsa would like a word with you."
The strange man walks away backing into the portal and a gust of wind is followed by his entrance.
Scaramouche tries to say something but he's pulled in by the portal, but before he goes, he turns and looks at me.
"I promise. I'll be back. Wait for me. After all, I haven't fixed your TV." Just as the wind comes and goes, he gives me a small smile and as soon as he came into my life, he leaves.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.

The Girl He Used To Know - An UnderCurrent Story
Pierre Havelock is an author, atleast now he is. In truth 3 decades ago Pierre was dragged across space & time only to land on our boring old earth. So when one of his 'characters', a girl based on someone he once knew in his past life, appears before him - Pierre is less than best pleased. He is even less happy when said girl decides to make his house her new home! __Now on Royal-Road! ‘The Girl he Used To Know’ began life when I came across a rather silly prompt on a web-novel site I was using; "Theme: My 2D waifu is now my real life Valentine's!?"Well with a title like that I couldn’t help but be interested by the idea of leaving my usual writing niche and trying something a bit more novel. Tying it loosely back to my main series ‘UnderCurrent’, ‘GUK’ was born as a standalone romance novella which you are now holding, styled with Japanese tropes in mind from a more western perspective.I hope you will find this to be an interesting and fun read - Designed with the intent of being a somewhat contemplative and ‘cosy’ story - Whatever the case I thank you for picking it up and giving it a once over.- Momentie __I adapted Draft 2 to audio - I can't voice act, or edit, yet I kinda like it & find it personally the best way to enjoy the story😂 - https://youtu.be/kNWiSiZU53U
