"Tell me you're joking, how did he get away." I said as I entered the bunker. Colton and Kade were sitting at a desk as they faced me.
I didn't mean to leave the table like I did and ignoring Blake but it pissed me off hearing they found Luis and let him go. They had direct orders from me to capture him if they seen him and they did the complete opposite.
"What happened?" I said annoyed.
"I sent some guys over to the club once I got intel from Maria that Luis was there." Colton started. "He was there to meet someone and you'll never guess who."
"Who?"
"Geraldo."
My face turned straight as I clenched my teeth. That bastard. I'm going to kill him.
"Tell me you're fucking lying." I repeated over and over as I slammed my hands on the table. "Talk!" I yelled.
"Once our men spotted Geraldo, I told them to abort the mission. It was too much of a risk." Colton spoke slowly watching my reaction. He wasn't trying to piss me off by him giving orders without my permission. But I didn't call him out on it, Colton was in charge as much as I was, but he knew not to step over his boundaries.
"So they didn't spot our men?" I asked. If they didn't spot our men than that was a good thing. Geraldo had no idea I knew what he was doing behind my back.
"No." Colton responded crossing his arms. "I told you we shouldn't of trusted Geraldo and take over his club."
"Fuck off. I don't want to hear it." I said frustrated. I can't believe I fucked up this bad. If it wasn't for me wanting Blake I wouldn't be in this situation. Fuck me for being so horny.
Colton shook his head. "Now how can we truly know if Blake isn't apart of whatever their planning? We can never be sure now."
I didn't know what to think of that. What if all of this was a trap and she's playing me. No. Blake wouldn't do something like that, right?
I took a deep breath as I shook my head. "She isn't."
"How can you be sure boss?" Kade questioned.
"Because I fucking know."
Kade held his hands up in surrender. "Alright."
"He's likes her that's why." Colton chuckled.
"I don't." I lied. I felt something for Blake. But couldn't give a description of what it was.
"She is your fiancé." Kade grinned.
These fuckers we're trying to be funny now.
Colton raised his brow. "Have you fucked her yet?"
I didn't answer.
They both started laughing. "He did." Kade said.
"And you still want something to do with her, so therefore, you like her." Colton smirked.
"Okay shut the fuck up. We need to talk about Geraldo." I needed to clear my mind and think of my next move. Geraldo was dead. If he thought he could play me and get away with it, then he has another thing coming.
"What you thinking?" Colton asked.
"Set up a meeting. I want to see him now. I'll say I found his shooter and i'll go from there."
Geraldo's a dead man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My man." Geraldo smiled as he opened his office door for me. "Long time no see."
I gave him a smirk as I walked over to his desk, taking a seat. My gun rested on my waist, just in case things got out of hand. Some of my men surrounded his office just in case Geraldo set me up once again.
"I heard about Blake and the club. I hope she's alright."
"She's in the best hands possible." I responded.
"And the engagement was a shocker also. I didn't think you guys were-." He paused, "Compatible."
My mother made an announcement to our allies and other mafia groups of my engagement, something I told her not to do, but she did it anyways.
"Enough about me." I crossed my arms. "How have you been?"
He looked shocked by me asking about his well being. I could careless, but I wanted him to think I was on his side for the time being.
"It's been pretty hard getting around." He continued to talk about how getting shot affected his life for the next 15 minutes and I totally zoned him out. I regret asking him the question because I didn't actually care.
"But I'm thriving." He chuckled. "So I heard you found my shooter?" He looked unsure as he said that. Was there even a fucking shooter or was that apart of the plan too?
"I did."
He nodded awkwardly. "That's great news."
"Is it really?"
"What do you mean?" He cleared his throat.
"Let's not play games Geraldo."
I noticed him looked around the room cautiously as he readjusted himself in his seat.
"I don't understand." He said as he rubbed his neck.
"Okay let's get right to the point then. Why were you the last person seen with Luis?" I clenched my fist. "And don't lie to me."
His eyes expanded. "This meeting is over." He stood up quickly heading toward the door.
I stood, pulling my gun out. "Sit the fuck back down." I aimed my gun at him. "I'm not done talking."
"Roman. I suggest you leave. I have other business to attend to and I'm-."
"I suggest you start talking before I kill you." If he thought, he could find a way out of this then he was mistaken.
"It's not what you think." He sat back down. "I was set up."
"Keep going."
He took a deep breath. "It's a long story."
"I have time." I sat back down with my gun still pointed at his head. "Talk."
He took another deep breath as he nodded. "Okay, okay. Well, it all starts with Luis targeting me. He threatened to kill my son if I didn't go along with his plans. He already killed my wife, and my son was the only family I had left, so I listened to him. He wanted me to hire his daughter as a stripper at my club. I wasn't sure if she'd take the job or not. She went to law school for heaven's sake. But when she accepted it, I was shocked. Luis knew she was in debt and needed a job or he wanted to keep an eye on her. After a year passed, he contacted me again. I wanted nothing to do with him. I thought all he wanted was me to hire his daughter and be done." He sighed. "But there was more he wanted. You."
"What do you mean by that?"
He told me to become allies with you, borrow some money, pay it back and I'll be on your good side. But I didn't expect you to come and collect the money so early. I knew what you were capable of, so I panicked. I didn't think you'd be interested in Blake." He rubbed his face. "Once Luis found out I let you near her, he created a plan. I was supposed to get shot and have you take over my club for information about him. The list of names I gave you were fake. He didn't want you taking his daughter and marrying her. He thought you'd do something like that and take everything he owned. He sent his men in the club to kill you, but it didn't turn out how he thought. So, plan B was to kill Blake." He sighed.
"She almost fucking died." I raised my voice. "You fucking bastard." I stood.
"I never expected Blake to get hurt, I swear. He never told me that part at the time!" He quickly said.
I was lost for words. I was fucking played and didn't even notice. I slammed my hand on the desk. My body was trembling from anger. It was hard to keep myself from shooting him in the fucking face right now.
"Look ever since then I wasn't in contact with him until last night, I swear."
"What did he want from you?"
"He wanted to know your status and why you haven't been showing up to the club. He knows you have Blake and he's anxious on your next moves."
"Good." I rubbed my finger across the trigger. I liked that I had Luis in the wind, and he didn't know my full intentions with his daughter.
I wanted to kill Geraldo. But I hesitated as I thought of Blake. What would she think of me if she found out what I did? Why would I care if she cared? I didn't care about anyone's opinion of what I did. But it did bother me of what she would think. I relaxed my shoulders as I lowered my gun.
"Get out of town. Leave and never come back. If I see you anywhere around here, I'll kill you."
His eyes widen as his mouth opened. "What? Are you serious?"
"Leave!" I yelled. "I won't give you another chance."
He stood up quickly as he approached the door.
"Oh, and Geraldo?"
He faced me.
"If I was ever face to face with the man who killed my wife, he'd be a dead man. You're a pussy."
Geraldo swallowed hard as looked down in disappointment.
~~~~~~~~~
I was sitting in my office with my top and most trusted men, Colton, Mike, Kade, and Hunter. After explaining to them what went down in Geraldo's office, we came up with our next moves. There's no telling where we'd see Luis next. With Geraldo fleeing town, I'm sure Luis caught on that I knew. I didn't feel the need to tell them I let Geraldo go. It wasn't important anyways.
"I guess all we can do right now is keep surveillance out at bars and underground clubs until we spot him." Mike said taking a sip of his drink.
"Or I can marry his daughter and take over his empire." I suggested as they stared at me with shocked expressions that I was actually going to go through with it. I didn't know what I was saying, but it sounded good in my head. It felt like the only way to get Luis to show his face. I had no other option. Marrying Blake was the only solution that sounded valuable right now.
"I didn't think you'd actually consider it." Mike chuckled.
Neither did I. We weren't supposed to go through with an actual wedding, but I know my mother never stopped planning even though we told her to this morning.
"I don't think it's a bad idea. Luis won't like hearing his empire is about to be taken from him, so he'll show his face." Colton added while scrolling on his phone.
"Your mom already went public with the engagement. I'm sure Luis heard about it by now." Kade said.
There was a knock on the door as they didn't wait for a response to come in. I was about to yell before my face lit up as I seen Blake. She made me relax from all the stress I was feeling.
She had on black slacks and a light brown turtleneck with black heels. Her hair was down, and she didn't have any makeup on, but lip gloss. And I had to admit, she looked beautiful.
She stood at the doorway as she looked around at all of us.
"You can come in." I said as she hesitated. "They're about to leave."
"We are?" Kade joked.
"They don't have to." She said walking up to my desk. "I'm just here because I need you to sign this."
I looked down at the piece of paper she put in front of me. "What is this?"
"A document making sure your aware of your next court date."
I totally forgot she was one of my lawyers now. As I sighed the paper, I felt her eyes burning through me. I'm sure she was still mad about this morning.
"Blake, about this morning-."
"Save it." She cut me off. "I have to get back to work." She grabbed the paper.
"But-."
"You gentlemen have a nice day." She cut me off once again as she walked out.
"Damn, what did you do." Mike asked. "How did you manage to upset the woman that's supposed to be giving you everything her father owns."
I rolled my eyes. "I ignored her this morning at breakfast, but it was harmless. I didn't think she'd get upset over it."
Kade shook his head. "That was your first mistake. Women don't like being ignored."
"That's true. Maybe next time use that big mouth of yours." Colton grinned as he knew he was pushing my nerves.
"I suggest you go after her." Kade pointed toward the door with him thumb.
"She'll get over it." I shrugged.
"Don't be an asshole." Colton crossed his arms.
Damnit. I wasn't the one to chase after women, I was used to them chasing after me and begging for my attention. But Blake wasn't like that. I pushed my pride aside and stood up, going after her.
