《Angel | ✓》54 - Hospital Run

"You love me?"
What?
It felt as if my heart stopped as I turned around rapidly and see his eyes were open and sitting up as if he wasn't in pain.
I stare in surprise, not knowing what to do or say, but soon enough, I was all over him, my arms wrapped around his neck tightly.
I tried to control my relief of him being awake, but it only came out in tears. I felt his arm snake around my waist and pull me closer, so when I tried to pull away, I realised I was trapped from his force. I laugh to myself, and he rests his face on my shoulder and I could feel him smiling against me.
We hugged in silence and in the moment of happiness, I felt a spike of guilt in my conscious. My hands uncurled and I pulled away from his arms once they loosened, making him grunt as I faced my back to him and hung my head low.
"I'm sorry. If I had just listened to you then none of this would've happened and-" I got cut off by a rough hand grabbing my chin and pushing my head up. Tears trailed my eyeline yet again as I was forced to look into his eyes, and they were broad.
His face blank, I was about to get up to move away until Francis sat up further and gripped my hips harshly and pulled me on top of him. I let out a small gasp as I collapsed on his chest making my face inches from his as I looked up.
"Angel." he snapped. His voice was deep, sounding more serious than I had ever heard him. "Never blame yourself for what happened. I should never have been so naive when Sienna had apologised." he said more softly and leaned over to kiss my forehead and my temples.
He slowly trailed down my face until his lips were brushing against mine. His breath pushed again them and when I looked into his eyes, I could see love coating them. "God, I missed you so much." he said breathlessly as he finally leaned against me and kissed me passionately.
I leaned onto him and a breathily hum leaving my mouth as his hands trail up my spine until he reached my pressure point and pressed it harshly, making my back arch and break contact with him as the wings curled out of me. Francis turns me to have my back facing him and moves to press it against his hard chest. I groan lightly making my wings fall to my side, allowing Francis to press closer to me and kiss me. His lips move from my neck, biting and sucking, and trail down my shoulder, pushing off some of the shirt I had on to go further.
I try to take my mind off of what he was doing before it goes blank and I turn my head to the side and see that he's already staring at me and my cheeks flush as he continues to trail my shoulder with marks.
My eyes wander to Francis's wings and see the loose bandage draped over a dull mark of a bullet wound, but it was already healed and already had small feathers sprouting out of the bare skin. I pull out of his grasp strongly, so suddenly he doesn't have time to pull me back before I'm out of the bed and by his right wing.
Looking at it closely, it seemed more tender and was slightly red swollen with stitches that were overdue to be taken out., I reached out to touch it, but he pulls away before I could, making me frown.

"Are you sure you're recovered?" I ask softly, checking the rest out his wounds and he's silent before I start to walk away from him, and he jumps out of bed to get to trap me in his grasp before I can go anywhere.
"I'm just going to get a first aid kit Francis." I laugh and his mood seemed to lighten but none the less his grasp doesn't retract so I have to make do.
Just as finished and was about to lay Francis back down, there was a crash at the end of the hallway outside the door. I could hear the security outside of the door yelling at someone or multiple people to 'get lost' but it was soon followed by the sound of a bloodcurdling scream mixed with a gunshot.
A shiver runs down my spine and I go to open the door but before I can its already slammed open. Francis jumped out from his bed, the cords ripping off him but puts me behind him carelessly. Four people burst into the room. Francis wings flared and he blocked my sight from them but with a quiet whisper from one of the strangers, my eyes grew wide.
"Holy shit." it was quiet, and Francis was too enraged to pay attention to what I was saying so I quickly grab Francis's hand, making his head whip to face mine, and my eyes soften at the anger on his face.
"It's ok Francis, they're with me." I reassure quietly but before he can react, I leave his grasp and go to Keisha to hug her for reassurance. She doesn't return the gesture as I feel her frozen with fear as she faces the biggest criminal of all time. Facing Chris his lips were thinned and as much as he hid it, he was also afraid. Nala seemed to be unfazed by Francis surprisingly and Xavier just looked at me with an annoyed expression, probably for running away to such a predictable place.
I turned back to Francis to find him glaring at Chris and when he was about to step forward, someone else spoke up.
"Whitelock." My eyes drag to Nala and widen to see her hand out.
Francis's eyes moved slowly, but as they laid on her, they seemed to soften and he stepped forward, allowing them to shake hands. I felt dumbfound seeing Francis acting nicely to a police enforcer and I guess he could see me gaping.
He dragged me to his side again and gestured to Nala. "Nala's husband was a was a help to me and he was the man who allowed me to escape that lab I was raised in." he whispers into my ear and a smile spread on my face.
"I owe Francis my husband's life, this was the least I could do." she spoke up and I nod, it would explain why she was different from the other police force. Leaning onto Francis's side but I feel his body stiffen as Chris stepped forward, making straight eye contact with the beast.
"I'll never understand why Valentina wants to stay with you." he said briefly, a hint of annoyance in his voice, and I cringe at his brutal honesty. "But I know that I never want to lose a friend like her again and for that, I want to join your gang."
My eyes widen in surprise, even more so as Keisha steps forward, slightly behind Chris for protection. She looks as confident as Chris did and when I looked up at Francis, I could see he saw the same.

"And how do I know that you won't betray us?" he said lowly, staring at both of them in a deathly way, making their ego shrink.
I hear Xavier sigh gruffly and pushes himself off the wall he was leant on and stood to the side of the two groups. "They wouldn't, I inspected them before they got here."
Keisha's eyes lit up at Xavier's cooperation and nodded "We would give our life for her."
My eyes stiffen and I looked up at Francis eagerly, and he turns to look back with me, his eyes are then voids as he turns around to the couple and curls his hands around my waist and pushes me into him aggressively, away from Keisha and Chris.
"If you so much as even try to betray her, then I will personally have your head hung." He snarls deeply and I see the corners of his mouth tilt up with intent, but I wrap my hand around his arm, and he snaps out of his daze and looks back at me.
I smile brightly at him which manages to make him loosen his grip on me, but is the mood is broken as I hear a phone vibrate and Nala to frown. Looking up to her she is looking at her phone with furrowed eyebrows and I turn to ask her what was wrong.
"They found Rodger." she said bluntly, and my fists curled but I remained quiet as she continued "They're on their way here now. You all need to leave now." she orders, and I nod along with the others.
Xavier takes out his guns and throws one to Francis which he catches with ease as we sneak out of the room, into the deserted hallway, but I stop at the sight of a bloodied man on the floor, the supposed guard of the room, with a bullet through his head.
The others past over it wearily so I follow them, still walking closely to Francis as his iron grip stays on me. I feel comfort against his warmth as fold my hand into his and everyone breaks into a sprint.
The riots had broken in and they were trampling down the hallways, making the nurses call an emergency, and making all chaos break loose.
There were yells of Francis not being in his room, and security rushed to the doors, attempting to lock all of them to prevent escape whilst they rounded up the group.
At this point, there was no point hiding and the six of us ran through the main halls, making doctors stumble out of their way, realising we were stopping for no one.
Security was catching up as the news of criminals trying to escape the hospital spread and all possible exits were closing quickly.
Everyone turned without a second thought, falling into steps with each other until we came face to face with a wall of a window, facing the city and there wasn't a second thought to what we were going to do next.
Francis takes the lead and kicks his foot out, smashing the window into pieces and catching himself in the wind with his wings. Xavier and Chris jump from the second floor down and land on the ground with ease. I was about to follow Francis into the air until I see Keisha stumble away from the height behind me.
"You know what? Maybe I can't do this." she whispers to herself, and her eyes widen when they see my hand held out to her.
"I don't want to abandon you again" I say and grab her hand eagerly as the security yells drew closer.
She looks down at the height and watches as Nala jumps down and leaving to report to the police station, she had only slightly stumbled when she hits the surface of the ground. Keisha hands shake but they firm on my grip as I drag her to the edge and push both of us off.
My wings brush through the wind and they soften the fall when we drop to the floor, letting Keisha let out a huge breath as I let go and let her stabilize on her own two feet.
Francis's presence creeps up on behind me and places a hand on my shoulder and my heartbeat fastens as he leans over and whispers into my ear.
"Going with them would put all of us at risk, they'll be safe with Xavier." he says tightly, and I nod, knowing he's right.
Xavier had already called a car and it was hidden in plain sight. I hugged Keisha goodbye, her and Chris already understanding the depth of the situation and followed Xavier into the car, only slightly glancing back until she hides in the car.
I let out a sigh and my heart tighten, hoping she would remain safe with the situation she put herself in.
My eyes retract to Francis, and I see him already floating in the sky, so I follow and bring myself next to him before we race off. As we did, there were yells of us being spotted in the sky, so we flew higher, out of sight of them in the clouds. "Where are we going?" I ask and he keeps looking ahead, curving his wings to corner a tall building and I follow.
"To another base." he says, and I keep quiet to myself after that. I'd never considered that he would have other bases, so close to his prime one too.
The loud wind we slice through is the only thing to be heard. We only were just above the cloud, and I was sure that we were safe, until a piercing bullet flew through the air, an inch away from Francis's shoulder, making us both look at each other instantly.
"What-" before I could even get another word out, I felt the breeze of a bullet that streaked through a thin feather that flew away from me and the next thing I hear is wailing sirens.
I dive under and through the clouds to see what was going on, to be greeted with the sight of the FBI and Swat team, all of them armed with guns, tranquillisers, and there were men sticking out from the roof and windows of bulked cars.
Francis brushes beside me but pushes me to the side which moves me from a bullet that would've gone through the middle of my chest in a second.
I don't even communicate with Francis when he takes off from the scene and I follow.
It feels like my heart is beating out of my chest as there are whistles of bullets flying through the air carelessly.
We fly in curvy lines, unpredictable turns to confuse the men but my vision starts to blur as my heartbeat picks up in pace.
My stance in the wind wobbles and my wing strokes become sloppy, making me go slower.
The bullets get closer to me, making my breath fasten.
The black blobs in my eyes only grow but it felt as if everything stopped when my chest throbs.
I stop in mid-air, as my hearing disappears and all I can do is watch.
At this point Francis had stopped and turned around frantically, paling at seeing my state.
I try to speak, holding my chest in pain, and looking up at him breathless.
"Francis-" I say, choking on the crimson blood that pours out of my mouth and dribbles down my chin.
My body throbs as my wings drop beside me and I fall from the air.
I felt stuck. Not being able to do anything.
Francis had dropped after me, reaching out a hand to grab me but I couldn't bring myself to do the same.
His golden eyes glisten with the sun that is slowly rising to break the night.
I smile at the sight, only slightly being able to hear his desperate screams as my eyes droop close.
I wake up in a daze to feel the nurse's dress I stole is soaked to my chest and there's a pang as I try to move.
I mumble curses at the pain and open my eyes to see Francis's face, streaked with tears as he desperately tries to stop the blood flowing from my chest, bloodying his hands in the process, and I could hear him saying my name, over and over.
It hurts as he tries to stop it, so I lift my hand to softly move his arms of me. His face turns to mine, and he stops crying; his face hardens as he tries to conceal his emotions but fails making the sides of my mouth tilt up slightly.
I reach my hand up and rest it on his cheek, making him look from the floor to me.
"Don't cry..." I whisper and wipe the tears from his eyes with my thumb. I chuckle, stopping as it hurts me further and feel my eyelids become heavier making my smile faulter. I slow my breathing and drop my hand from his cheek, making him face me instantly as I close my eyes.
"No, no, no, no..." he whispers desperately, shaking my shoulders softly. "Don't close your eyes." he demands making my smile reappear.
"I'm really tired though" I utter and his grip on my shoulders tightens, but I don't react as I feel myself loosing myself faster.
"Sorry," was the last thing I could say before I was swallowed with the darkness.
