《Angel | ✓》36 - The One That Got Away

I wake up, feeling miserable.
Not wanting to get up, ever, I lay there waiting for someone to make me get up, anyone but her...
My phone starts to ring in my ear, and I groan, having to roll over to answer whatever idiot was calling me this early. I didn't even both look at the Caller ID.
"Why are you calling me this early." I snap and there's faint voice shouting in the background.
"It's 9am man" a voice chuckles from the other side and I grunt, feeling even more reluctant to get out of bed.
"What is it, Alex?" I utter and it sounds like he says something to a screamer in the back and then answers my question.
"Well, I currently have your not-so-secret admirer in the basement, and she will not shut up about you, so can you come downstairs already?" he whines, and I immediately hang up the call and put on my bloody attire not wanting to dress up for a bitch like her.
As I walk down the hallway, I'm greeted with all my workers still glancing over to me in disgust and all I could do was ignore them. I sped to the basement and as soon as I was downstairs, I was greeted with her high-pitched annoying screams.
"LET ME SEE HIM!" her shrill voice screamed. I fulfilled her wish, I slammed the door open, and her face of aggravation was replaced with lust.
She was tied to an old chair with ropes tied around her, cutting into her skin and her skin was already bruised from some of Alex's tricks.
My eyes trailed to her neck, their trailed with... love bites.
I shudder at the thought of that night and her smile widens as I step closer to her. I look over to Alex. "Give me a carving knife." I demand and he nods silently, handing it over.
Pulling up a chair to her, she smiles at me and leans over to get closer to me. "Did you miss me, Francie?" she whines, and I flinch at the name.
"Don't call me that." I say and lean over to her, wanting to get this over with. "I'll be the one asking you questions."
"Ask me anything!" she says, too happy for my liking.

"Why did you get close to her?" I asked, expressionless and hover the knife over her bruised skin.
"You mean that whor- She starts but I cut her off as I push the knife into her skin harshly, my teeth gritted with anger, but my body relaxes and the shrill pain in her screams.
The blood leaked from her neck and stained her skin as it drooled down her body.
What a wonderful sight.
"Don't you ever call her that." I guide my knife under and then out of her skin again, the bit of skin joining the floor with the many more and she finally becomes quiet.
"Why?" I asked again calmly, and I could see the psychotics in her eyes.
"Because I love you!" she yelled, her smile becoming only wider.
"The only reason I got closer to her is because of you! I even tried to get her killed by that nobody for you! Because we're supposed to be together-" once again she was cut short as my knife plunged into her skin, cutting out another part of her bruised skin. Her screams of pain only became louder.
"You're the one that sent Aaron after Valentina." I asked, sounding more of a statement but she didn't reply, instead sickly smiled with me.
"Why are you admitting all of this?" I demand, grabbing her neck, not tight enough to chock her.
"B-because I would never lie to my love." she says, her voice ends up getting louder. "That bitch doesn't deserve your love, I do! I killed that stupid bird for you! I tried to kill her for you!" she screamed and pushes herself against the rope blistering her skin without a care and I lost my patience.
I had finished cutting the hickey's out of her skin and stabbed the knife into her thigh, feeling the nerves I hit burst.
"Don't you dare say that!" I yell and my hands wrapped around her neck become tighter and tighter, but the smile never dropped from her face.
"I-I would love to die from your hands." she whispered with a wicked smile as that's when I lost it. I grabbed a fist full of her hair and the bottom of her chin and twisted it.

Her body fell limp and her smile finally drop and the love and lust in her eyes disappeared, only allowing darkness in them.
What a lovely sight.
I breathed heavily from all the anger being bottled inside of me and I could see Alex taking a step back from me.
"Do whatever you want with the body." is the only thing I say before I exit the room to go back to my office, not minding if my workers see me covered in freshly dripping blood from my clothes.
Everyone that looked my way, their eyes grew in fear, and I smiled to myself.
This is how they should see me, not as someone weak.
My phone rung and I pick it up, looking at the caller, my hopes sparked. Trackers.
"Do you have anything?" a small voice from the other end answered me.
"Yes, it's said a small town north-west has reported that they saw a girl matching the description of Ms Valentina who was signing into a motel for two nights under her own name first name."
I scoff at the information, is she trying to lead me to her?
"Get my best men on her, including Xavier." I say and she complies before ending the call.
I would get her back soon, but I can't face her yet, she would go down with more than a fight if I came along.
Walking into my office I see Tara walking past me, and I could see the fear on her face. I hadn't seen her since she yelled at me, but I could tell she was regretting it now.
Stopping in my tracks as I listen to her pace speed up, walking away from me. "Tara." I called out and she stopped turning around to face me slowly.
"Y-yes Sir?" she says quickly but I could hear the fear evident in her voice.
"Come with me to my office." I say and she looks around, trying to muster up an excuse
"But-"
"Now."
My tone was strict, so she followed me immediately and even started to shake as I closed the door behind her.
"If you think I'm going to hurt you. Then I'm not." I said and she eyes me curiously and shakes her head.
"Why am I here?" she says slightly stern, and I glare at her for the tone.
"Because of what you think I did to Valentina." I explain be she looks shocked as I say that.
"Don't try to deny it-"
"I'm not." I insist and pause before explaining it.
"I was drugged and manipulated into thinking that Sienna was Valentina." My tone is quiet, not wanting to have flashbacks to what happened.
Tara goes silent but after a while manages to mutter out a few words.
"I'm... I'm sorry I said those things about you.. but why didn't you tell her?"
"Well, she didn't give me a chance before she ran, and you yelled at me." Her look was covered with guilt. "But I wouldn't have been able to connect the dots without you, so for that, I thank you."
Her eyes widen and she stares at her feet.
"You're... welcome." She says and still bowing her head not to look for me.
"I'll update you later, you are now excused." I dismiss her and she scurried out of the room.
Hopefully she will tell others. I sigh to myself and look at my desk to see files scattered around the desk, filled with contacts I need to finalize for imports.
But it was impossible to focus on work knowing that Valentina could be in danger or get hurt at any second.
I manage to finish half of the pile but as I start onto the next one, the door bursts open, and I see Xavier with a bloody nose.
He's breathing heavily, as if he's been running for miles.
"Valentina..." he breaths out, pauses to look up at me.
"She got away."
My breath hitched at the four words. She really got away..?
"Boss," Xavier tries to start but I interrupt him.
"Out."
"What-"
"GET OUT." I yell not being able to control my anger anymore.
She managed to escape a whole group of my men.
What lengths would she go to... to never see me again.
My desk breaks from the pressure that I put on it and I yell in agony.
What if I never see her again.

8 181The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
