《Angel | ✓》14 - Midnight Flight

The silence is killing me!
Fidgeting with my fingers as I wait for my lunch to come, hopefully with the pills I requested.
I look out the window longingly and start to fantasize about going outside. Only a few more weeks.
It may be bad to be planning this as I'm stringing one of the most dangerous criminals along, but if I ever want to go back to my life. Then I need to do this.
My head shot to the door, and I saw the same emerald eyes that I despised.
Narrowing my eyes, I turned back around huffing, making him sigh.
Setting the full plate of food down, he walked over to me, his tall and muscular figure leaning over me sending shivers down my spine.
"I feel like we got off on the wrong foot," he said in a soft voice, making my heart ease a little.
He looked like someone who could rip you to shreds in a second, but as he looked into my eyes, he sounded so soft-spoken.
"I'm Xavier" he introduced and held out his hand.
"Valentina," I responded as I got up and took his hand, making his whole face light up.
I smiled at this reaction, and he gave me a wide smile and guided me to the meal that he had placed down and sat me down on the bed.
"Francis and I were talking, and he told me about the.. pills," he stated cautiously and I just nod, making him sigh in relief
"And we were going to give you 1 every Monday, Thursday and Wednesday." He suggested making me pause and I took the first bite of my food.
They were trying to pry me off the pills out of kindness?
"So, you're trying to rid me of using them?" I questioned, wanting to make sure I wasn't overthinking this.
"Yes," he said slowly
"That's very.. considerate of you.." I said as I looked down at my lunch. I didn't know how else to respond. No one had ever tried that, not even me and the people I expected the least were criminals in a gang.
I looked over to Xavier to see that he was still standing there.
"I have to stay there until you finish it," He explained so I just nodded my head again, kind of speechless.
I ate all of it and swallowed the pill, all while having friendly conversations with the bodyguard. It was nice to have someone beside Francis. But I probably did need to apologize to Quinn, right after she told me not to escape, I did. Besides, I needed another friend here, it was lonely.
As I scrapped off the remainders on the plate, I handed it back to Xavier and thanked him for the company.
"Call if you need anything, Valentina," he answered as he left the room, the door closing with a click. Once again trapped.

But I felt better now. The nerves in my body that used to be antsy had calmed down and my mind could finally have a rest.
God, I feel so tired. I've spent most of my nights staying up and waking up early, I've had no time to rest- I'm sure no one will mind if I just close my eyes for a bit.
As Francis paced around the room of his luxurious office there was a knock on the door followed by silence.
"Enter." The boss demanded as the wood creeks opened. "What?" Francis spat, leaning back on the large desk, watching as a nervous worker stepped in, closing the door behind him.
"W-well sir, as you told us to, we knocked to enter Ms Rider's room but there was no answer." the man trembled as his boss stepped forward, looking him dead in the eye with gold glinted eyes.
"I will deal with it myself." The winged responded, breaking eye contact and walking past the quivering man, that was soon to follow him out of the grand office.
Why did she have to be so stubborn? thought Francis.
He arrives in front of his Queen's door. The man knocked gently with his knuckle but was yet to revive a response. He opened the door quietly and his heart paced at the sight of Valentina, sleeping peacefully. He carefully stepped forward, not making a sound, and found himself hovering over the sleeping body.
She looked so content as her body was curled on the sheets, her blush lips slightly parted, and her beautiful blonde eyelashes closed, touching her cheeks.
The killer could feel the red on his face creeping all over, so he covered his face with his hand. She had no idea what she made him feel. The love and lust. He needed to cool down, so she couldn't see him in the state. And that's when an idea popped into his head.
A smile crept across his face, and he reached out with a hand, that he had killed many people with, to gently wake up the girl from being asleep, making her eyelids flutter open.
She groaned softly, stopping as her eyes landed on Francis, making a small smile appear on her face.
"What is it?" She whispered, still too tired to speak clearly as she rubbed her face with her hands.
"Want to go for a fly?" The older smiled making the girl raise her eyebrow.
"What?"
Valentina let out a quiet gasp to herself as she got to see the view that the mansion had on top of the roof. It was beautiful, the only forest to see for ages. But you could see the sun setting ever so slightly on the horizon, letting the moon come into view.
She could feel Francis standing behind her and turned around with a subconscious smile plastered on her face.

"It's beautiful.." the girl breathed out as the man stepped closer to her.
"Do you trust me?" He said slowly as he grabbed his Angel by the hips, turning her to face him.
"Yes?" The blonde chuckled unsurely, peeping into the deep eyes of the criminal "Why?" she asked.
Valentina could see he was hesitating on whether he should or shouldn't say or ask.
"Do you trust me to catch you if you fall?" he asks
"Of course."
As Francis held Valentina in his arms, he slowly moved to the edge of the building, making her heart slowly sink.
"Francis.." she slowly said, looking behind herself to see that they were now on the edge of the mansion. "What are you doing,"
"I'm testing your trust" he replied simply, making the girl hesitate even more.
Letting go of his Queen, Francis left her standing on the side of the building, staring deeply into her eyes, truly wondering if he could trust her.
"Ok," She said patiently, making Francis's eyes widen in surprise, he doubted that she would agree so simply.
Leaning back. Having her heels off the edge. She felt a small breeze. And held her breath.
Pulling her weight back, that finally pushed her off the edge and she started plummeting to the ground. Valentina held her breath, really hoping she could trust the killer she had only known for 2 months. Stupid, she should know better.
Opening her eyes, she could feel herself getting closer to the ground, reaching the height of the buried trees.
"Francis.." she whispered breathlessly as she thought she was going to hit the ground. There was a quick brush beside her, and she was pushed into the air, the tears on her cheeks being brushed off by the amount of wind thrown onto her face.
Letting out a light gasp, she felt a pair of arms supporting her back and knees and a consistent swaying sound.
"You can open your eyes now." a low voice whispered into my ear, hot breath pressing on the side of my neck, sending shivers down my spine.
Squinting them open, I saw that I was now in the darkened sky of night, above the building, and trees. It was a breathtaking sight. Until I looked down.
I was meters from the ground.
I screamed out loud and slung my hands over the broad shoulders next to me, not wanting to plummet to my death.
"Don't let me go! Don't let go!" I screamed into his ear, making him groan.
Out of pure fear, I dug my head into his chest, hiding my sight of the terrifying view.
"I thought you liked the view" Francis chuckled making me whine.
"Not when I can fall and die any second!" I squeaked as I held on tight as he loosened his grip.
I felt the cool breeze on my back increase as the flapping of the wings became silent. Daring to look, I peeked behind myself to see that Francis was now gliding through the trees of the forest effortlessly and I found it hard to look away. The cold air felt amazing on my face, and I let out a little laugh to myself.
Then in a moment, Francis shifted his wings to angle up and spread them out, immediately bringing us into the open sky again.
I felt a giddy smile on my face as I kicked my legs excited, making the Avian man chuckle breathily.
He landed carefully outside the mansion, giving me a full view of the exterior, which I had never seen.
It had the same gold embellishments on the inside with the same colour palette, and grand windows, the gardening was amazing too, well cut bushes and a fountain in the middle of the circular, gravel driveway lined with expensive-looking cars.
As we landed, Francis let me stand on my own two feet, letting me go, but still standing close to me as we got near the entrance.
There were 2 pairs of men on each side of the two grand doors, all armed with guns. I put my head down as we stopped in front of them, making the guards slowly raise their guns, regretting to do so as a growl erupts from their boss's throat.
I look to my side to see that Francis was glaring at them, and his large wings were spread out and up, making his appearance more terrifying.
They stepped to the side as quickly as they could as we entered, making me let out a small breath of relief. I look up at Francis to look at him but see that he's already doing the same to me.
"Thanks for tonight.." I say with a smile, and he nods, returning a small smirk.
We walk up the tall spiralling stairs and were greeted with the long hallways that looked around the whole building.
"No problem Angel." He sighs, throwing his head back.
"I'm not an ang-" I start but stop myself knowing I was just wasting my breath. "Never mind"
He chuckles deeply, as we arrive at my door and opens it, stepping away, for me to enter. I nod and still have my smile that didn't seem to be going away any time soon.
I step through and the door closes behind me. I stood behind the walls, waiting to hear the click I had gotten so used to. But instead, I only heard Francis walking away.
I turn around suddenly, staring at the doorknob, seeing that it wasn't locked.
I stand there by myself, stunned for a second before lowering my head happily and flopping down on my bed, knowing that I wasn't going to be sleeping tonight.
