《Angel | ✓》8 - Rusted Chains

It was quiet and cold inside, just like the night outside and the sound of him humming bounced across his cell, and back into his ears.

He tapped along to his tune with a twisted smile imprinted on his face. It was only a matter of time before it was free, but the only con is that he wouldn't be able to see his dear psychologist anymore.

Francis had grown to like his Angel, maybe even more than like. There was a joyous hint in his dark heart as he thought of the first time he met her.

It was as if he'd laid his eyes on an angel, hence the pet name. And he couldn't get enough of her.

It was a gift to look at her beauty. Her perfectly curved body, tanned skin, and her rosy lips were the final touch making the restraint he had on his demons loosen every time he could get his hands on her.

He had never had anyone listen to him as well as her and it felt as if everything was right, but it confused him to feel this emotion, being unfamiliar with it.

At first, he had fought it and hurt her- for which he would never forgive himself- but now, he would do anything he could to protect her.

When he had heard her cry, he wanted to rip open his cell door and rid the monster that had burdened her, just like he had tried to do with the bastard who dared laid his hands on her, his accomplice had taken care of that.

Francis smirked at the memory of her, but it was dulled by the thought of leaving her. He would regret it, but there was no doubt that he would come back for her.

It's nearly time, he thought as he looked to the small, barred window to see the moonshine pointing to the floor. The criminal waited patiently waited in his cell. Sitting, covered in chains, with a blank face.

And that's when the man could hear explosions that were music to his ears.

"Boom, boom, boom.." he muttered as the cell to his door was kicked down with a strong force.

"About time!" the man sighed, even though he had been the one delaying his exit for a week with an unexpected... obstacle to obtain. His workers came up to him and cut off his rusted chains with a metal cutter. They fell to the floor with loud bangs and it make him smile in sweet satisfaction. The leader let out a relieved groan as he was free of the chain and stretched out his wings, to their full spans which filled the room.

"You," the woman to his right, who had a blank face on, as ordered by her employer. "Give me a report."

He walked on, his henchmen following behind. The bombs had been planted by rats in the workforce and they had caused a fire to spread, flames licking at their feet and the screams of prisoners rung down the halls, the same for the guards dropping to the floor. They had fireproof gear on, unneeded by Francis from his genetically advanced skin.

"5 bombs were planted across the buildings and have effectively destroyed the key rooms with security cameras. There are men all around the building searching for any information possibly useful to them and seeing if there will possibly be anyone else in the building and erasing anything they have on you. " She explained but she was tuned out as Francis was focusing on the familiar voice that could be heard coughing in the distance.

Simple humans couldn't hear sounds as such over the raging flames but with the powers that the criminal was given, he was stronger than anyone in this building and could hear any sound within 100 feet, if focused on enough.

So, when he heard the voice in the distance he knew who it was.

The boss suddenly held up his hand, making the two followers stop.

"What is it, Boss? We need to get out of here now before the authorities show up." the female worker stressed but Francis didn't listen.

His wings stretched out and bent slightly. He looked back for a second to give a command.

"Go to the car and park it out the back and when I get in, step on it." he hissed, and they knew that they had to listen, they nodded obediently.

So, with that, the winged man spread his wings fully and with a single flap, he sped down the hallway, leaving a gust of wind behind him, fanning the fire to reach the caved-in ceiling.

The hallways were burning and crumbling but they were too slow for his speed, so the fire didn't affect any of his movements.

"Help! Please.. help!"

Listening closely to the screaming he heard, it began to become fainter, and he knew he was running out of time. He then saw the office it was coming from.

Her office.

Rushing through the door frame, with the door that had already been melted off its hinges, he looked around furiously and that's when he laid eyes on her.

She was in a corner, trying to hide from the fire and her face and body were covered in ashes. The blue eyes she had were dark with anxiety and fear just like this morning, but she was still trying to get away from all of it to survive.

The villain slowly walked toward the innocent girl, curving his wings into a sort of barrier, as the blocked the fire for her.

He could see that she was about to pass out, so he picked her up, and she fell unconscious in a matter of moments.

He brought his hand to cup one of her cheeks, to tilt her head and make it rest more comfortably. A smirk slowly began to form on his face.

"Let's get you out of here, Angel," he whispered, his lips brushing against her ear and with that the man flew out of the building with an unconscious girl in his grasp.

"No!" Keisha shrieked as the building came crumbled down, as she fell to her knees.

It had only been 5 minutes since Valentina went in, but there were explosions in different places of the building, and she didn't come out when they sounded. There was no way of identifying her voice from the thread of screams coming from inside.

Keisha screamed Valentina's name as the firefighters tried to hold her back from running into the building to save her best friend.

There was nothing she could do as the building started falling, the floor collapsing one by one.

Keisha herself collapsed, to the cold hard floor and tears fell from her eyes onto the cement. Her head hung low and in the corner of her eye, she could see an expensive-looking car exiting the dark alleyway. She couldn't help but get a bad feeling from it.

But all the girls could hope was that Valentina had escaped the building and was somewhere safe.
