《Tears of Blood ✔》XXXVI - The Attack

"What do you mean?" Alexander asked, his face turning frantic.

I gulped as my head started to pound, a lingering pain blooming on my neck. "An attack, to catch Bloodlust at a weaker point, since I was meant to kill you... your torso! What did I do, please tell me you're okay," I asked leaning forward suddenly as I tried to get a glance of his side.

Alexander pushed me back, "I'm fine, I promise, you weren't in control, I understand that. Cassandra, did they say anything else?"

I tried to rack my brain, the time I had spent back at the organisation had returned to a fuzzy blur. I could remember it, see myself there, but anything that actually happened was lost to me."No, No I don't think so, only that they would be attacking regardless of whether I succeeded or not." I said, "Alexander, we don't have too much time, we need to go! Oh god, I fucked us all-" I

moved to get up and out of the bed.

Alexander pushed me back down again, "Your mind is a mess and your whole body is weak.

You're staying here."

I raised an eyebrow, "So when they arrive, you're just going to leave me here useless like a sitting

duck?"

"No, I'm going to leave you here, recovering so that you don't run out into a battlefield and kill yourself because your strength isn't where it usually is." He grabbed my hand. "I don't want to be overbearing, but I have been killing myself with worry, only to find out that your mission to the organisation had turned south and then to have you return to me in a worst state than when

you arrived. You're staying here."

I snorted, placing my hand on the side of Alexanders face. "I think I'll have to cope with the fact that you're a little overbearing, considering the fact that I'm stuck with you indefinitely."His face fell slightly, "I'm sorry. I wanted more time between us, I know that you weren't ready

for it."

I ran my thumb up and down his cheek. "Perhaps. But you did what you needed to do. I think we both wish it could have been different, but it's happened. There's nothing that we can do about

it now."

We sat in silence for a moment before Alexander's eyes went glassy. It was only for a second, and at that moment, I wished I had somehow gone through with the initiation into the pack just so

that I could hear.

He went back to normal and stood up, "You were right, they've arrived. I need to go," He brought nothing with him, only dashing to the door. "Stay where you are, I'll be back later, I promise."He disappeared from behind the door, shutting it behind him before I heard him running down

the hallway.

I grabbed the hair tie that was lying on the bench beside the bed. Quickly, I tied up my

unbounded hair, bringing it off my neck and the back of the chair.

I wasn't connected to any IV's or medication, making it easy to stand up and make my exit. It seemed as if Alexander barely knew me at all. In an ideal world, I probably should have stayed and recovered. But I wasn't in that situation, and most importantly, I didn't want to leave Xander

to fight without me.

I was still in the clothes that I had arrived in. Thankfully, that allowed the transition from hospital bed to the battlefield even easier. In fact, it seemed as if nothing had been changed at all, the only difference being my somehow unbound hair and the punctures on my neck. The hospital was empty, not a soul to be seen. It was so quiet, I could hear every step that I made. My walk turned into a run, hurrying myself as quickly as possible. Once I left the hospital,

I could hear it.

Screams and shouts echoing from the entirety of the pack. I followed the sound, racing as fast as

I could to reach them.

I half expected it to be warlike - set out on a field with blood sprayed against the grassy floor. No, instead, we were in the centre of the pack, people darting in and out from houses and buildings to make their attack. I pulled out one of the throwing knives and sent it flying to one of the familiar organisation members that were a moment away from snapping a twelve-year-olds neck. I ripped the knives out of the body and sent them flying in another direction. It was easy to tell who was who, each organisation member dressed up in the black and grey leathers with a

slit to show off their tattoo.

I could sense Alexander's presence, while he wasn't near me, he was in the general vicinity. I tried acting off that feeling, ensuring that at the very least, we weren't in a position where he

could see me.

How many people had been sent?

There were thousands and thousands of committed members, so it wouldn't surprise me if they sent out a few hundred members just for the sake of staging an attack. But from what I could see

so far, we were winning, significantly.

I unsheathed the sword from my back and sent it swinging, catching at least three people in the

process.

Suddenly, I heard a sound, the flapping of wings.

I gulped, dragon shifters.

They kept to themselves, for the most part, hidden away in the mountains. But the ones that were part of the organisation? They were even more private. I was never too sure exactly what they did, most likely acted as helpers for Master Skotus and an easy connection to persuading more dragons to the cause. But here, two dragons, with endless wings and spiked tails that began circling, the clouds running over their wings as the blue of the sky sent their scales into a

holographic mess.

I could tell immediately that these weren't fire dragons. They all had different abilities, but the fire dragons were the highest ranked, and as if they would send the highest-ranked dragons for

something as meaningless as this. An attack of intimidation.

I was going to deal with them.

I dragged myself up the side of the wall, loading both of my hands with a weapon of some sort. I looked over to the second dragon and tried to figure out the best way to deal with it once I had killed the dragon closest to me. I lowered my eyes to see Alexander, who too was perched on the

room.

When he noticed me, I could practically feel his annoyance radiating towards me. I simply

shrugged with a smile before taking a step back and starting to run.

Just as the dragon flew over the building, I jumped, grabbing onto the leg of the beast before

swinging myself upwards, allowing me to be seated on the back of the dragon.

The moment he realised what has happened, he began to move restlessly in an attempt to send me flying off his back. I gripped on tight, clenching my stomach and thighs as the dragon rolled,

flipping me upside down to once again, try and through me off.

As that happened, I re-sheathed my sword and just as the dragon flew over a large patch of trees, I shoved my sword downwards, sending it through his body completely. It made its slow descent, crashing down against the forest as its breathing slowed. I jumped off, just as the

dragon hit the ground and shifted itself back into its human form.

I didn't even bother to turn around to see who it was, or more like didn't want to.While the battle continued, it had thinned dramatically, making it easier for me to not only assess the situation but jump straight back into it. I darted behind a building to try and get an advantage on a vamp that I had seen skulking against the edges. Just as I was about to jump out and attack with a final blow, I felt something grip onto my leg. I raised my dagger to get rid of it

before I realised.

A small child, his bright blue eyes wide and blond hair ruffled as he tightened his hold.

"Luna," He sobbed, "Luna please,"

He would have only been two or three, I wasn't sure. I guess I was more recognisable than I thought, considering the fact that this toddler had come up and grasped someone in the enemies uniform with complete confidence.

"Hey, hey, hey," I soothed, tugging him into a divet in the alleyway, hiding us from view. "What's

wrong, what's going on?"

He took a moment, "I- I don't know where my parents are, I think... I think."

I sighed. What were the chances that this kid had just witnessed the death of his parents?

"Ok buddy," I ran my hand over his head, smoothing his hand. "What I need you to do is to stay right here. This way, I'll know that you'll stay safe and the moment that we're done, I'll come

back and get you, does that sound ok?"

He shook his head before once again starting to cry, "No, no! Please, can I stay with you?"There was no guarantee that he would stay safe if I left him here alone either. And so, I grabbed

him, popping him on my waist as he instinctively wrapped his legs around my waist.

"Now," I said, moving myself out of the dip. "You need to hold on tight ok? And let me know if

anyone is coming from behind me, think you can do that?"

He nodded his head as he gave me a small salute. I felt fine going into this thing one-handed. I could tell that it wouldn't be for long, though my concern was that I was going to end up putting

his guy into way more danger than he would have been in a different situation.

I couldn't waste any more time.

The vamp that I had noticed before was still lurking, I whispered a quick, 'Close your eyes,' to the kid before stabbing her through the chest and sending my blade through her neck.

However, as I walked even further into, everything had stopped. It was over. I grabbed the kid who was sitting as still as a rock on my hip to move him onto my chest, wrapping my arms

around his lower back to keep him secure.

"Looks like everything's over buddy," I said, "What about we go and find the Alpha, huh? See

what he's doing,"

I was trying to keep my heart as calm as possible, not wanting to stress him out. Bodies were

played out against the floor and some slumped against brick walls.

I tried to create a mental note of a body count, even if that could help somehow.

I felt something tug inside of me, and just like that, Alexander ran out into the centre, his body

heaving a sigh of relief when he noticed me.

The boy had nestled his head against the crook of my shoulder, and I could tell that the body

attached to my front was one of the first things that Xander noticed.

He came up to me, "What happened to the hospital room?"

I gave him a small smile, "Got lonely,"

He raised his eyebrows, yet his eyes were lined with pride. "That's on me, I should have just

taken you along in the beginning." I hummed in agreement, "And who's this little guy?"

The boy turned his head to the side, his eyes widening slightly when he realised just who was

speaking to him.

"Um, Hugo Le, Alpha." He answered back.

Alexander acted as if he knew exactly who this child was. "And where are your parents?"

His eyes welled up again with tears and I shot Alexander a look. "I... I don't know Alpha, but I think," He looked over my shoulders to the plethora of bodies lying behind me.

A look of realisation. "How about you come home with us, yeah? We'll see if we can find your

Mum and Dad."

He nodded again before moving himself back to my neck, and I could tell he was moments away

from falling asleep.

"What do we do now?" I asked, "Clean up? Take body tolls?"

Alexander paused, "I have officials designated for this sort of thing. They'll come in, identify the bodies so that we can make a list up of the deceased. That won't take long, especially since they've most likely already begun. I need to get the guards back on the pack border, tighten the guard to make sure no one else can get through. For now, it's probably best that we head home, hold a meeting and come up with our next plan."

I gulped, staring behind me at the masses of dead. "And? What is that plan going to be?"

He bit his cheek. "I don't know."
