《Stop That Hacker!》Chapter 21

After the quick shower, I got dressed and jumped under my covers waiting for the call.

I cleared my throat and tried to see how I would sound.

Hello...Hey..Hi..Oh hi..oh hey..

Ugh I sounded awful.

My phone buzzed and I juggled it a few times before It fell on my face and I could pick up.

"Hello?" Damn it I sounded too girly.

"Hey." He talked in a really raspy voice. I'm so shook I could have a heart attack. How could he sound so hot.

He cleared his throat and his deep raspy voice was just deep now. Too bad.

"I had a really great time but I'm really sorry that we had to cut it short." He started. "I hope next time, all will go according to plan."

I died. Next time? yes!!! If things went according to plan we would not have had that kiss.

"I had a great time too." I managed to say without my voice trembling.

There was a short silence on the phone and I played with my nails nervously.

"Actually.." I started unsure If I should say this, but I felt it was really important for me to tell him. " Even now I'm still nervous and I keep feeling tingles when I remember. The kiss. Um.. was it.was umm the kiss good for you as well?"

There was no response and I think he had dropped the phone. I waited a bit before I could hear him on the line again.

"Francy..." My name sounded so good as he said it. "*He exhaled a long and deep breath.* The kiss was great for me as well."

That made me smile. Ahh finally air..

"I have to go now and take a very long shower, but I would like to call you again later tonight after I'm done with some work. If that's alright with you."

I smiled, unable to contain my happiness. "I won't mind. But if you can't make it don't worry about it."

"Oh so it doesn't matter if I call or not. How heartless Francy."

"NOO.That's not what i meant." I panicked but I heard him laughing.

"Sorry, I was just teasing. I'll go now."

There was a lingering silence.

"Bye."

"Bye."

"Where are my damn socks?" I ran around the room looking for my new over the knee socks. I just know I left them somewhere around here...

I tossed my stuff around, running barefoot in the middle of October through my room, looking for those damn socks. And if I didn't find them I would be so late..

And suddenly I had the flashback.

The flashbacks that clears up everything.

I ran up stairs and straight to Rehan's room.

"Rehan!" I banged on his door, but still whispering in case I woke up mom and dad. "Rehan!"

He opened the door, just slightly peeking. "Yeeeees?"

"Where are my socks?" I asked.

"What socks?" He played dumb.

"You were in my room yesterday with the excuse to find Momo's toy and I just know you took them. I don't know what experiment you need them for, but I need my socks. They were new!"

"Oops..sorry" He smiled and started closing the door.

I pressed my elbow on the door trying to reach inside, but he managed to push me out and shut the door.

"I will pay you back for this!" I swore my vengeance and ran back to my room to at least put tights on.

Ace banged on my door. "Francy! Come on. Why are you so late this morning?"

I opened my door suddenly standing there whooshing my hair back. "It's because of Rehan."

Technically it wasn't Rehan. I had let my guard down and let that little weasel in my room, knowing he always snatched whatever shiny thing was in his sight.

I couldn't stop thinking about the date nor the kiss, nor the two phone calls. Sunday went quietly, but my brain was chaotic.

We walked to the car and I tripped just as I was going to get in.

"Francy, what's with you?" Kai asked.

"Nothing, what have you heard?" I said quickly and jumped in the back seat.

I saw Rehan running out of the house and he went for the front seat where usually Kai sat.

I tried to reach forward to hit him, but he wiggled out.

"Just you wait until we get home." I glared at him while he pretended not to hear me, turning up the radio.

Once we got to school me and Kai headed to our class together. As always he sat next to the window and pulled out his headphones and a book. The girls in the back which were only in that class with us, as always were taking selfies of their noses while trying to get a photo of Kai.

What ever did they see in him? Should I let them know he used to chew Rehan's hair in his sleep? Nahh, he probably doesn't do that anymore. Probably.

He also used to pen stab all of my teddybears whenever he was mad at me. But he doesn't do that anymore as well. I think..

I swirl the pen in my hand and stretch on the desk. I had a hard time focusing on anything else but the date. Not my responsibilities at home, not school, not even my cats. At this point I might as well be a pencil.

The teacher walked in the classroom and the noise died down. She pulled out her book and started writing on the board. She was one of those teachers who just went along with everything. Considering this was her last year before she retired, she couldn't give less about us, but we still tried to keep it down in her classes.

Not even ten minutes passed, she was still writing on the board.

If I had been any more distracted I probably would have even missed Fin climbing through the back window while everyone was keeping quiet and covering for him.

Fin was the complete opposite of Kai. While Kai was always on time, Fin was always late. Kai studied hard, Fin copied homework. Fin cared about everyone and was the first to help out if needed, Kai would not attend anyone's funeral unless he could get something out of it. But for some reason Fin and Kai were best friends and inseparable since kindergarten. Kind of like me and Rem if one of us was evil and the other climbing through windows..scratch that.

Fin had managed to come through the window but hit his foot on it, the moment he was sliding on his chair. It made a dull but loud sound.

Kai instantly coughed as his life depended on it.

When the teacher turned Fin was already inside but standing. He casually leaned forward and tapped Kai on the back.

"Wanted to help him with that cough." He grinned innocently.

She shrugged it off and turned towards the board again.

The girls gave quiet applause and Fin winked at them with a charming smile.

I wonder how they can be so different yet so close....

Once class ended I, Kai and Fin headed down the hall. I saw Remi approaching us and I waved at her to see me and just like that Kai and Fin were out of our sight.

"Was that Kai and Fin?" Remi asked, peeking behind me.

"Yeah."

"Oh I missed them.." She frowned.

"Why do you need to see them?" I glanced at her suspiciously.

"I wanted to ask Kai if he can help me get ready for my math test next week." She sighed.

I laughed so unconsciously and an uncontrolled snort followed. It was funny from many points of view. Firstly Kai didn't help anyone for free even if he had time, and even if he would want to help her he can barely say a word to her. But explaining it to her would be just ridiculous.

"Sure Remi. Let's go find him." I wrapped my hand around her elbow. "I'll help you."

We went back to the hall where I knew Kai and Fin sometimes sat and there they were chatting to the same girls from class.

Remi pulled my sleeve to go back a few steps.

"They seem busy. Let's go back."

Well so much for that little distraction. I looked at Remi but she seemed a bit discouraged.

"Hey, do you want to come over after classes?" I asked in hopes to cheer her up.

"No, I think I'm going to go home." She said deflated.

"Oh come on, I need to think about something else than..." I leaned forward to whisper. "My date on Saturday." I had briefed Remi about everything on Sunday and she had spent an hour screaming, then an hour explaining to me how big of a breakthrough this is for HER, and then she complained an hour about how this is a betrayal, then she reverted into a normal state asking me when I will see him again. And the matter was closed.

"Has he called since then?" Remi asked.

"Nope." I sighed. "Do you think I should call him?" I asked her with a displeased look. I shook at the idea. It took so much courage just answering, but making the call...

"Absolutely not. You don't want to seem too available. Guys don't like that." Said my non-experience in anything yet an expert friend.

"Yes, I figured. Just checking."

"But..." She plastered an evil smirk on her face that brought chills down my back. "That doesn't mean we can't go and spy a little bit."

"What no!" I raised my hands. "Absolutely not!"

"Come on. We'll just go to that cafe and have a look around. I know how he looks thanks to the picture and he doesn't. We can do a little spying."

"No.no.nono.." I HATE THIS IDEA.

"Come on. They did this back in the days."

"Oh come on! Who did?"

"Everybody. They didn't have the internet to spy on people, so they did it physically."

"No they didn't," I said, a bit unsure of myself and Remi caught that.

"They totally did. After school, we'll go with my car and spy a little bit. Maybe you can see him. charge up on energy and go home happy."

Well...that did sound fun.

"What if he sees me?" I asked worried. "What if he sees me there and it's like what are you doing here when you don't even live here."

Remi raised her brow. "Well it's not like he owns the damn place."

"True.." I sighed, defeated. "Alright. We're doing it."

"Yes!?" Remi grinned. "See you after school." And she rushed down the halls.
