《Stop That Hacker!》Chapter 19

I took one last look in the mirror. I made sure the deep burgundy turtleneck was tucked in my plaid skirt and fixed my hair back so my earrings were visible. I had painted my nails red to match, but now I wondered if it might have been too much.
I grabbed my bag and went to get my coat. After a slight hesitation, I went with the cream white one that hung down to my knees. I put on my slightly high ankle boots careful not to rip the black tights. All in all I felt pretty...pretty damn nervous.
How the hell was I going to go through with this? I felt sick to my stomach from nervousness and I was sure any moment now I was going to pass out.
"Mom can I borrow the perfume again?" I asked from the hallway.
"You can take it, it's yours." She yelled from the living room and then showed up at the door with the perfume. "Your father likes the previous one more." She winked and gave me the perfume.
I spritzed some on my neck and wrists and shoved it in my bag heading out.
The weather was pretty cold today or it might have been that I wore a skirt that I could feel the breeze tickling my knees, but somehow I made it to the station waiting for the tramway.
I got off on the station closest to the October festival vendors and walked towards it, my hands pressed in fists in my coat pockets. Breathe Francy. Breathe.
As I was approaching closer and closer I saw him standing there. Oh god. He was so hot. His hair was up for the first time and he was wearing a coat instead of a jacket. His lips curved in a smile as he saw me.
Oh my god. I am too nervous. I'm going to be sick.
"Hi." He said when I approached him.
"Hi." I said trembling from my feet to my head. My feet were unsteady on the ground.
"Are you cold?" He asked me.
"I'm uh.." And as I stared at him I just laughed out. Oh god. This was crazy.
He stood there waiting for me to stop laughing. Eventually, I got my hands out of my pocket and covered my mouth, unable to stop laughing.
"What?" He smiled.
"I'm too nervous that I can barely stand," I told him wiping a tear at the corner of my eye.

He chuckled and looked down at his feet. "For a second I worried you were regretting that you agreed to this."
I shook my head. "Just the opposite."
We stood there smiling in silence.
"So.." He spoke first. "Should we ...go."
"Yes." I said following him.
We walked for a while until we reached a street full of cafes. He took me to this coffee shop I had never been to before. When we got there the host even asked us for reservations.
As we got in, my breath stopped. I finally knew why you needed reservations. The aesthetics were heavenly.
The ceiling was the rooftop itself. It was over thirty feet and all in the glass. The light was directly over the golden walls and the beige couches and tables. There were maybe ten or more mini living rooms created in the coffee shop. And one large flower swing in the middle of the coffee place, perfect for pictures.
There weren't any TV's, but there were little bookshelves, board games and plants in cute decorative pots.
"This is just..." I couldn't look away for a second. "How did you..was..was this planned?" I finally tugged my eyes off the ceiling to look at him.
"I was hoping I could repent for yesterday." He said, proud of himself that he actually nailed this one.
I was smitten. He was perfect. There you have it, folks.
We picked a table and sat down on the couch next to each other. The couch was so soft and there were mini fluffy pillows on each side.
"Hi,I'm Victor and I'll be your server today." The waiter was dressed in a uniform in a perfect theme to the place. He handed us two menus and stepped back until we made our choice.
After the waiter brought our drinks I finally broke the silence.
"Oh this is so cute." I pulled out my phone to take a picture. "I can't believe I've never been here before."
He smiled proudly and took his coat off. I realized I was still wearing mine and awkwardly got it off. He took both mine and his and stood up to hang them on the hanger in our improvised living room. My eyes sized him up like he was a piece of candy.
He looked so good. He was wearing a long-sleeve black shirt and a white collared shirt underneath. I sunk further down in the couch taking in his hotness as he pulled up his sleeve to his elbows. And that watch on his wrist. Were those visible veins.

Hold up.
My stomach was no longer sick, but now it was doing different types of flips.
He sat back down and smiled.
"So I read Poe's book. Very grim."
"You liked it?" I was still leaning on the couch.
"It was good. But nothing like Oscar Wilde." He answered.
"How dare you say that about Poe?" I laughed.
"I guess you haven't figured me out that well yet to know what I'd like." He said, smug about it.
"Well then tell me. About yourself." I smiled.
"Ah..." He sighed.
"You said you don't want to be strangers anymore so come on." I crossed my legs. "Tell me. Why do you live alone first of all?"
He leaned on the couch to face me. "That is very personal to start with."
I sat there and just gazed at him. He gazed back and eventually gave out.
"My father threw me out of the house." He cut right through the case.
"Why?" I asked calmly.
"I did something very dangerous when I was younger and felt really guilty about it so I did everything he wanted me to. Until one very bad incident that was caused by one of his ways. I got into a fight with him about it. It was the first big fight we had in which screaming was involved from both sides and I ended up leaving the house."
I frowned. "That is so unfair. How can he kick you out because of a fight?"
"That's just how he is." He leaned his elbow on the couch and leaned his head over it, facing me. "Yesterday he came to my house acting like he still owns me and it made me so mad."
So that's why he was so worried yesterday.
"What about your mom?" I asked.
"We talk. From time to time. Being in such a huge fight with my dad really caused a riff. We get so awkward trying to talk to each other, especially because he always threatens her not to call me because I won't learn my lesson."
"I'm sorry. Is it hard living on your own?"
He sighed. "I manage. I was lucky that I'm pretty good at what I do."
"If that's how it is for you I'm so impressed. You have a car and your place and take school and work. But it must be exhausting."
He shrugged. "What else do you want to know?"
Hm.. I relaxed my hands in my lap. "Do you smoke?"
He chuckled. "No."
I nodded.
"What about you? Anything interesting about you that you want to share?" He asked.
I thought about it. "Not really."
He leaned forward. "I want to know more about you."
My cheeks burned up. "I want to know why you ask me to hang out. I have been wondering since the last time."
He smiled. "Really? You're already asking that question."
I raised my shoulders and smiled. "What's wrong with asking what your intentions are?"
He smiled and leaned over closer. I instantly tensed up.
"The truth? I like you a lot. And I don't even know you yet. I just have an idea."
My nervousness was back. He lifted his hand a bit unsure and then softly placed my hair behind my neck.
"So I only have good intentions." He smiled.
"Why?" I whispered because he was too close. "We barely talked and I got the opinion that I annoyed you the first time we met."
His eyes got serious as he observed my face. "You do this thing..I don't think you're aware of it. but your eyes just provoke me so senselessly. When you look at me like that I get chills all over my body."
I covered my face with my hands embarrassed. I peeked through them and he was smiling.
After that he pulled back a bit and I relaxed. We talked about all the other nonsense we could think off.
Then he looked at his watch and pulled out his wallet. "We're going to be late. Shit!"
"For what?" I asked, getting our coats.
"Hurry, hurry. Go to the main parking lot behind the EMP building. I parked the rover there. I just have to pay and I'll come. We're going to miss the movie. " He went to search for the waiter and I put on my coat going outside. It was quite a walk.
Confused, I walked to the parking lot. Did he also plan for movies? I suddenly felt excited. What if he holds my hand in the dark and tries to kiss me. Would I freak out?
I shook my head and looked for the rover when suddenly I saw the road get more and more drops of water.
